A common problem seems to be that the high torque head motor starts spinning when the vacuum turns on, then stops immediately. This happens unless the vacuum is set on boost mode so there's nothing wrong with the motor. Would be awesome to know what's likely not working in this scenario and how repairable it might be. Great video.

I had this problem, a few months later the motor entirely failed. I fixed it by just replacing the motor with one from aliexpress and its basically like brand new.
Some people have been unlucky getting dodgy motors from aliexpress but my one seemed to be brand new. It cost me $135 australian.

This is the most useful video I have ever come across. Thank you! I also hope that you can do a video on the V10 as I have been trying to fix mine. My V10 only works on Max. When I try medium or low, the motor will only spins for a second and stops. I have cleaned up everything and replaced the filter but still no luck. It must be the control board that gives me problem. What will be the most possible issues, the MOSFETs, capacitors, the hall sensor detecting the positions of that switch (Max, Medium, Low), or other things? Thanks for you help!

First of all, thank you for your interest.
You can examine the following components to narrow down the causes of the problem with your Dyson V10. The problem is most likely in the control circuit or related components. Here are the possible problems:
First, Check the Solder Joints: Cold solder joints can cause such problems.
      1. Hall Sensor
Function: It senses the RPM of the motor and controls the motor speed accordingly.
      Possible Problems:
If the Hall sensor is defective, the control circuit cannot sense the speed setting correctly. Therefore, only one setting (Max) can work properly.
There may be oxidation or openness in the Hall sensor connections.
Solution: Check the output signals of the sensor using a multimeter or oscilloscope. If it is defective, replace the sensor.
      2. MOSFETs
Function: It provides power management to control the motor speed.
      Possible Problems:
If the MOSFETs are partially defective, they may not be able to provide enough power at low and medium speeds.
They may have been damaged due to thermal stress or overload.
Solution: Check the operation of the MOSFETs by measuring them. Replace the defective ones.
      3. Capacitors
Function: Provides voltage balancing and reduction of fluctuations.
      Possible Problems:
When capacitors age or fail, voltage fluctuations may occur, which prevents the motor from operating stably at low speeds.
Solution: Measure the ESR (equivalent series resistance) value of the capacitors. Replace those that are swollen or have low capacity.
      4. Microcontroller (MCU) or Control Card
Function: Controls the motor speed and processes the signals from the Hall sensor.
      Possible Problems:
If the MCU cannot process the speed settings, this may prevent the motor from operating at low and medium speeds.
There may be breaks or cold solder in the circuit traces on the control card.
Solution: Check the signals from the MCU and the solder connections. If the microcontroller is faulty, it may need to be replaced.
      5. Motor
Function: Provides the suction power of the vacuum cleaner.
      Possible Problems:
The motor may not be producing enough torque at low speeds.
There may be an internal winding short circuit or problems with the carbon brushes.
Solution: Check the connections and general condition of the motor. Replace if faulty.
      6. Battery Management System (BMS)
Function: Provides the energy required for the motor.
      Possible Problems:
The BMS may not be providing the current required for low and medium speeds.
Solution: Measure the battery voltage and current output. If faulty, check the BMS board.

My Dyson vacuum makes a short sound and shuts off immediately. It runs for less than a second. I have already replaced the battery with a new one and cleaned the filters and the machine thoroughly. I am unsure which component might be causing the issue. Could you please help me identify the problem?

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  11 днів тому

If your Dyson vacuum cleaner starts but then immediately shuts off, the problem is most likely related to one of the following components:
      Motor or Motor Control Board:
Symptoms: If the motor control board is faulty, it may not be supplying the correct voltage or current to the motor. Similarly, if the motor itself is damaged, it may be triggering the protection circuit due to excessive current draw.
Solution: Check the motor control board for damaged components (burnt resistors, capacitors, or MOSFETs) and inspect the motor for wear, debris, or internal shorts.
A Blockage in the Airflow Path:
Symptoms: A blockage can cause the vacuum to overheat or momentarily overload the motor.
Solution: Double-check the airflow path for hidden obstructions, including the hose, wand, and cyclone assembly.
      Bad Battery Connections:
Symptoms: Loose or corroded battery contacts can cause intermittent power delivery, leading to instantaneous shutdowns. Solution: Make sure the battery connections are clean and secure. Check the terminals for corrosion or damage.

Hi, I don't have power on the vacuum cleaner brush (dyson v15 detected absolut). I've already changed the mosfet, but it has no effect. What can be done?

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  13 днів тому

Dyson V15 Detect Absolute vacuum cleaner brush no power problem can be caused by a variety of reasons. If the problem persists after replacing the MOSFET, you can check the following steps:
      Check the brush connection
Check the connectors where the brush bar connects to the vacuum cleaner. It could be due to rust, dust or looseness that is cutting off the electrical flow. Clean the connectors with a clean cloth and make sure they are securely seated.
      Cable and circuit connections
The cables between the body of the vacuum cleaner and the brush bar may be broken or damaged. Carefully examine the cables, especially around moving parts.
Test the cable continuity with a multimeter. If there are any breaks in the cables, they should be repaired or replaced.
      Motor Control Board (PCB) Problems
There is a motor control board inside the brush bar. This board consists of components other than the MOSFET (for example, driver IC, capacitors or diodes). Check the other components of the board.
Inspect for visible signs of burns or damage. Replace any damaged components.
      Brush Motor Test
There is a small motor inside the brush. This motor can fail over time. Test the motor by running it directly from a power source. If the motor does not turn, the motor may be faulty and should be replaced.
      Check the Vacuum Cleaner's Motherboard
The main control board located in the body of the vacuum cleaner manages the power to the brush. If there is a problem with the main board, the brush may not be receiving power. Check the connections, fuses and switches on the board.
      Brush Sensors
On Dyson vacuums, the brush head is sometimes controlled by sensors. If the sensors are dirty or faulty, the motor may not start. Clean the sensors carefully and check the wiring.
      Firmware or Software Problem
Dyson vacuums can sometimes fail to work properly due to software problems. Try a "reset" by unplugging the vacuum, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. If this does not fix the problem, the software can be installed by an authorized service.

Sorry to bother you , What is the resistance of the gate mosfet?

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  2 місяці тому

In MOSFETs, the gate drive resistor is a resistor connected to the gate terminal of the MOSFET and is an important parameter that affects the switching performance. This resistor is usually added externally and has several functions. Here are the details:
      Purpose of Gate Drive Resistor:
      1. Control the Switching Speed:
A current is required to charge and discharge the gate capacitance (Ciss) of the MOSFET. Adding an external resistor limits this current and thus controls the switching speed.
Low resistance → Fast switching (shorter switching times).
High resistance → Slower switching (increased switching losses).
      2. Reduce Noise and Oscillation:
A resistor added to the gate can reduce unwanted oscillations and electromagnetic interference (EMI), especially in high-speed circuits.
      3. MOSFET Protection:
A gate drive resistor can prevent damage to the MOSFET in high-frequency operation. It also limits the current from the gate driver, ensuring safe operation of the circuit.

Hope you can help, V10 just starts and stops on speed 1 and 2, but it starts and runs on speed 3 if intake is fully blocked. Under normal operation it should start pulsing if intake is blocked. So looks like it only runs if motor is under a high load. I’m thinking current sensing resistor could be at fault or mosfets. Any idea?

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  Місяць тому +1

Hi, I have never repaired a Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner before. But I can give you an idea about your problem.
      Problem with Clogging Sensor
In Dyson vacuum cleaners, the motor load detection is activated when the air flow is blocked and usually exhibits a "pulsing" behavior to notify the user. However, your vacuum cleaner seems to only work under high load.
Possible cause: The blockage sensor may not be working properly or may be covered with dust/air.
Solution: Clean the sensor and make sure it is connected properly.
      Types of Clogging Sensors
      Pressure Sensor (Differential Pressure)
Measures the pressure changes in the channel through which the air flow is provided. When there is a blockage, a pressure drop or difference is detected.
Location: It can be in the air duct, near the filter or motor.
Working Principle: There is a piezoelectric sensor or membrane that measures the pressure difference.
      Air Flow Sensor
Measures the speed at which the air is moving. If the air flow stops or slows down, this is detected as a blockage.
Location: It is usually located in the airway near the motor inlet.
Working Principle: It works with a hot wire anemometer or other air flow measurement methods.
      Electronic Load Detection
In some Dyson models, instead of a physical sensor, the electronic control unit (PCB) on the motor analyzes the load status of the motor. When there is a blockage, the motor draws a higher load and this abnormality is detected by the control circuit.
Location: This type of system usually does not require a physical sensor; it is integrated into the motor control board.
Locating and Cleaning the Blockage Sensor
On Dyson vacuums, this sensor is usually located near the filter or in the air inlet/outlet.
If it is on the filter, the sensor may be covered in dust or dirt. You can remove the filter and visually inspect the sensor.
      The sensor looks like this:
A module with small holes (for measuring air flow).
A part connected to the electronic circuit.
Fault in the Motor Control Board (PCB)
The motor control board contains the circuitry that controls the motor speed and power. The MOSFETs, optocouplers, or microcontroller on this board may be faulty.
Probable Cause: The load sensing or speed control circuitry may not be working properly, which may cause the motor to stall at low speeds.
Solution: Visually inspect the board. Check for burn marks, swollen capacitors, or cold solder joints.
      Battery-Related Problems
If the battery operates normally at high loads but fails to provide sufficient power at low loads, this may also indicate a problem.
Probable Cause: The battery voltage may be low, or the battery management system (BMS) may not be working properly.
Solution: Measure the battery voltage and try with another battery if necessary.
      Motor Failure
The motor may not be operating properly at low speeds and may be operating stably at high loads.
Probable Cause: One of the carbon brushes, bearings, or coils inside the motor may be worn out.
Solution: Inspect the motor and replace if necessary.
      Airway Blockage
The cleaner's airway may be partially blocked, preventing the motor from providing adequate airflow at low speeds.
Possible cause: Blockage in filters or pipes.
Solution: Clean all filters, pipes, and connections.

Can I ask you which component could be faulty if the engine turns off 3 or 4 times when cold but after a while when hot it works perfectly and continuously until I turn it off completely. • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  2 місяці тому +1

This issue may indicate a thermal or voltage-related component failure in your Dyson V11 vacuum cleaner. The fact that the device works intermittently when cold but runs continuously after warming up suggests that some components may not function correctly when cold but perform better as they warm up. In such cases, you may want to check the following components:
      1. Cold Solder Joints: If there are cold solder joints on components or connection points, this can cause contact issues at low temperatures. As the device heats up, expansion may create proper contact, allowing it to work correctly. It's recommended to re-solder all electronic components on the circuit board.
      2. MOSFETs or Transistors: MOSFETs or transistors in the power circuit may be unstable at low temperatures. These components may begin to work more stably as they warm up. It is advisable to check the components in the power section and also re-solder these components.
      3. Temperature Sensor: Temperature sensors connected to the motor or battery may produce incorrect readings when cold, potentially triggering a shutdown for protection. When warmed up, they may provide accurate readings. You should check these sensors.
      4. BMS Board (Battery Management System): If there are components like MOSFETs or capacitors on the BMS board that behave erratically in cold conditions, this could cause the device to malfunction when cold but work correctly as it warms up.
      5. Capacitors: Some capacitors may not provide sufficient capacitance when cold. As the device runs and warms up, the capacitance may return to normal, allowing the device to operate more stably. Check the electrolytic capacitors, particularly in the main power circuit.

I have an issue with the low/medium/boost switch on my V10. I dont know if it has something to do with the magnet in the switch but: When I'm on boost, everything works fine, lot of power. When I'm on low or medium, it's like the vacuum puts itself on boost for a second, then returns to normal, then it does it again, and then it's like a machine gun of low/boost/low/boost. Sometimes it stays on low for a long time and sometimes it's a machinegun. It's a pulsating sound but not the same as when the filter is blocked, it goes to boost. Did you experience an issue like that? What connections could I override to delete boost mode?

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  28 днів тому

Hello, thank you for your interest. I haven’t encountered such an issue before, but I can provide the following assessment regarding your problem:
The issue could be related to the electronic control board, switch, or sensor.
The switch that changes power modes might be faulty.
      Battery Voltage Fluctuation
If the battery is at a low charge level or has an issue, the device may fluctuate between power modes. Ensure the battery is in good condition. If possible, test with a different battery.
      Filter or Airflow Issue
A problem with the filter or airflow could also cause the vacuum to switch to boost mode in low settings. Remove and clean or replace the filter. Check for blockages that might restrict airflow.
      Control Board or Software Issue
There could be a fault in the software that manages power modes on Dyson’s control board. Additionally, issues with circuit components (e.g., MOSFETs or resistors) could cause such fluctuations. In particular, solder joint cracks on the circuit board may result in this kind of problem.
I’m not sure how to disable the boost mode either.
      Have a nice day!

At what battery level charge will the brushhead stop working pleasr

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  Місяць тому +1

The Dyson V11 vacuum cleaner can stop the brush bar for protection purposes depending on the battery charge level. This usually happens when the battery level drops below a critical threshold. In order for the Dyson V11 to maintain its full working capacity, the device can disable the motorized brush and switch to basic suction only. This threshold usually occurs when the battery level drops to around 20-30%.
However, it is worth consulting Dyson's user manual or technical support line for more specific information. If your vacuum cleaner's brush bar does not work even when the charge level is high, there may be a fault with the bar and this will require separate examination.

If one day Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner comes in for repair, I will record a video and share it on my channel.
If your Dyson V10 vacuum is making a humming noise and shutting off, the issue could be due to one of the following:
      1. Blockage
There might be a blockage in the vacuum's hose, filters, or airways.
      Solution:
Check all airways, hoses, and attachments for obstructions, and remove any debris.
Ensure the filters are clean. Dyson V10 filters are washable, but make sure they are completely dry before reattaching them.
      2. Filter Issues
Dirty or damaged filters can cause the motor to strain.
      Solution:
Remove, clean, and fully dry the filter. If the filter is old or damaged, replace it with a new one.
      3. Battery Problem
The battery may be degraded or faulty, causing insufficient power for the motor.
      Solution:
Check the battery's condition. If it's weak, replace it with a compatible one.
      4. Motor Issues
The motor might be damaged. Humming noises often indicate motor problems.
      Solution:
Inspect the motor for any damage and consider replacing it if necessary. Consult a professional if you're unsure.
      5. Air Leaks
Air leaks in the seals or connections can cause the motor to work harder and create unusual sounds.
      Solution:
Inspect all connections and seals, and replace any that are loose or damaged.
      6. Sensor Problems
Faulty sensors regulating suction power might cause the vacuum to shut off as a safety measure.
      Solution:
Clean the sensors or have them checked by a professional technician.

    • @electronic7979
      @electronic7979  2 місяці тому +2

      Merhaba ilginiz için teşekkür ederim.
MOSFET'in (gate) sürücüsünü sağlayan devredeki sorunları da inceleyin.
      3. Motor Kontrol IC (Sürücü Çipi):
Motoru kontrol eden entegre devre arızalı olabilir.

It would be more accurate to remove the R001 resistor from the circuit board and measure it. If the resistors connected to the mosfet are faulty, your mosfets may also be faulty.

Intermittent operation of the motor at medium and low speeds on the Dyson V11 vacuum cleaner can often be caused by a faulty motor control circuit or power transmission component. You can check the following components for this type of problem:
Battery and connections: Check the voltage of the battery to make sure it is providing enough power. If there is looseness or oxidation in the connections, this can also cause the motor to operate erratically.
MOSFETs on the main circuit board (PCB): MOSFETs are used to control the motor speed and can cause intermittent operation when faulty. If there are signs of heating or burning, you may need to replace the MOSFETs.
Cables and connectors: If there is poor contact or looseness in the cables or connectors between the motor and the circuit board, this can cause the motor to operate intermittently. Make sure that all cables are secure and properly connected.
Capacitors on the motor control board: Electrolytic capacitors in particular can lose value over time. Replace any swollen or leaky capacitors.
Soldering cracks on the circuit board. There may be solder cracks in SMD components on the specific circuit board. Renew the solder of all components.

      @electronic7979  11 днів тому
