Pauli Marttinen: Armour

A little something I composed last spring for a composition course in 2012.
This is an unprogrammatic fantasy for symphonic band. Composed using archaic modes and harmonies: main theme is in E flat lydian, there are lots of parallel fifths, orchestration brings out fifths and fourths, subdominant is more important than dominant, contains an optional part for bagpipes (solo at 1:37) etc.
This is a synthesized performance. Hasn't been performed yet for realz. Trumpets are quite quiet and saxophones are poo, but I hope you can stand it. (I wasn't going to publish this until I got a real performance, but it's the national day of Finnish music today, so I will now.)

Nice codpiece.
The music is pretty nice too, especially the beginning (before the change around 1:10) and the end (after 3:20).
