As an owner of the 2021 Maruti Suzuki S Cross petrol 1.5, I can confirm that the S Cross is faster than what the specs suggest and has phenomenal high speed stability, plus it gives decent fuel economy. The older 1.6 DDIS was a beast with 320nm of torque and was a wolf in sheep's clothing whereas the 1.3 was the sensible option as seen here.

+ this aerdodynamics and power to ratio is on par with bmw m series because s cross is based on SX4 which was originally designed by team behind Lamborghini

using revs will not damage engine if it is well maintained and reg oil changes, most car makers set hard rev limit, the car rev off the clock if allowed so what you see is ok to use. biggest problems bumps, holes in road they cause far more issues. more harder you use something more maintenance is required. i don't say stay at max rpm all time you may run in to cooling issues but using more of a gear as you build speed is what the car built for, and good hard run is not a bad thing with diesel, baby a diesel to much things get clocked up esp the eco stuff so esp modern diesels they require hard use every now and again. talking about speed, weight is important too, my car tank fuel and me is 1.1 ton, only 1.2 hatch i20 but still top out at 190km 119mph more than maker says it do but less stable higher speed corners but loads fun and its 100% stock, light weight adds fun and 78hp 120nm ive left bmw M car behind on twisty mountain roads, had slow fiesta diesel 1.4tdci it was light weight never had issue keeping up on back roads the car handled well but diesel heavy motor so had to be more aware lift off overs tear, nose heavy on braking but can also use that advantage too helps rotation in corners but also easy over done so light lose back end not what you want busy public road. sadly in uk these fraud clean air zone charges to enter city and cannot afford brand new diesel so will not be exempt from charge, petrol euro 4 and newer are exempt diesel euro 6 and newer and that is £8-12 a day in places just to enter so petrol be my next car, has to be lightweight a tad more power low road tax, Toyota or Hyundai top list, yaris i20/ or kia version gt line they look a lot fun. reduce weight reduces costs like brakes and suspension cheaper, tires cheaper, lots nippy cars around the low 1 ton mark
