its crazy to realize that this is so relatable for so many as an adult. I remember having a panic attack in elementary school, like 3rd grade, over a timed multiplications table worksheet in class, I was so scared I wouldn't finish it in time or get enough of them right and was terrified to have to go home with it and show my dad in fear of being berated and having my life threatened. I remember everyone staring at me like I was crazy, and when I tried talking about it to a close friend she didn't believe me or understand how serious it was and why I was so scared.
Jack's just progressively becoming more and more relatable. Eventually he's going to be doing a documentary on each of us, comparing the relativity between his videos and our lives.
As someone with an engineer dad I can relate, he's really aggressive when teaching about math and tools, but it's good discipline atleast. His quote : "Math is literally just logic!"
Lucky kids here. ^^^ Your dads may be rough at times, but you'll be light-years ahead of most kids who don't have that influence and don't feel that pressure to be great at what they're doing.
Whenever I ask my Dad for help with one specific math problem for my homework, instead of helping me with the problem he says I got every single other problem I’ve already done wrong. It does often end with tears though
This unlocked a painful childhood memory that I think everyone or almost everyone can relate to, especially with math. Except it was more crying and yelling than sweating for me. Why do dads or parents or guardians do this to us for?
For me it’s the other way around, my dad was so smart and helpful about it but my mom clearly didn’t know and would always take it out on us because she was embarrassed 😞
So relatable lol whenever my dad helped me with my math he kept sighing really loudly, rubbing his hands over his face like he was super stressed, and pretty much just looked like it was the last place he wanted to be in. I once cried and my dad didn’t understand why so I told him that he was being intimidating and he literally looked at me like he had no clue what I was talking about.
When I was 8, I had written an essay for English class, and when I proudly showed it to my mom, she read through it with anger in her eyes, and finally shouted “WHERE ARE THE COMAS???” I had not learned comas yet, but from that day, I never forgot to write a single coma
Literally this opened memories I did not want to open lmao. I remember this one time my dad was helping me and I was doing math like he told me to do it, and he was trying to convince me that all my work is wrong. He was yelling so much until I changed the answers to what he was saying is the right ones, and I went to school finding out that I was the one that did the math right this time and he forced me to write something that was no where near right. And then I never asked him for help again
My dad always gets really frustrated, googles the answers and spends an hour on a singular math problem in hopes to prove that he is capable of solving middle school math homework.
my dad is usually a really fun and loving father but every time when he helps me out with my math homework, he completely changes his personality 🥲 plus he’s an engineer, pretty much the genius in our family so y’all can imagine how he acts while he helps me with my homework 🥲

My dad, bless his soul, is a computer engineer and worked as a basic informatics teacher for old people for a bit. His issue isn't that he barely explained the problem, it's that he overly explained them in great detail to the point where he derailed from the actual thing that I had difficulty with to show me each and every step I had to do. I learned the stuff he taught me, but it was always so boring I only asked him when I was completely lost rather than when I had a specific question
My mom used to be a math teacher for 34 years (now retired). She was actually a great one; her students loved and respected her! But she sometimes complained about the parents _”helpin”_ with their kids a little too much with the homework, wich made the teaching of the *_correct_* method more difficult, lol. Too bad my mom used up all her compassion and patience for her students, so this is how she helped me at home. 😅😤😭
