- Video begins in the Plaza, looking at the Sphere and a pan up looking at our favorite twins. We cut to find ourselves in WTC 2's Lobby, showing a beautiful piece of artwork hanging off the core. With another cut, we find ourselves in an express elevator. Now you may think it's going to be the usual and we're going to be in the Observatory but- WHAT???? WINDOWS ON THE WORLD?????? With some video of the restaurant being very busy, we're now inside the WTC Mall, looking at the Warner Brothers Store. The video ends with us standing in front of WTC 6, looking at the North Tower and its lobby.

In an alternate universe, the Twin Towers are still here and being rennovated to remove all of the asbestos in them.
they were too lazy to renovate it...
@@ang695 I said in an alternate universe.
@@ang695 The terrorists did it to hurt the USA. Their DNA was found near the remains of the towers how do you explain the terrorists? Your conspiracy theory is debunked.
Actually they likely would have deconstructed the towers down to the plane impact zones and then rebuild up from there
@@kevinmorris3200 it was destroyed because asbestos
Hard to believe that nearly everything we saw in this video doesn't exist anymore. The old WTC was an amazing place.
Man it's very likely that even up to 80% of the employees present at that restaurant on this day were the very same people working the restaurant on the day it was hit.
i would imagine it wouldn't have already been open at the time of the attacks. but I don't know anything about the restaurant but if it served breakfast hours then maybe.
I think they did serve breakfast
Indeed. Actually the restaurant was open, especially because the “Risk Water Financial Technology Congress” conference was taking place on the 106th floor and at Windows of the World they were serving the appetizers for the “Check-in and Breakfast” that It started right at 8:00 a.m.
@@whiskerbiscuit6209It was already opened , they had morning , evening and night working schedules. Wasn’t “the falling man” wearing what looked like a chef’s uniform? That’s what I always thought. Unbearable horror for initial survivors above or near impact zones, my English teacher had me write 9/11 themed essays for weeks afterwards and it really was horribly depressing, can’t imagine the families or the briefly surviving victims feelings, to this day.
When my mother was on vacation in NYC in September of 2001, she booked a reservation at the Windows On the World restaurant for the night of September 12th, 2001.

The only thing I’d ever want to visit if there were Time Machines would be the Twin Towers… Just have a touristy tour of them! Maybe eat a snack at Windows on the world that would be amazing… I wish they were still there today!!
We all do. 😔🥺
And avoid the tragedy
Yeah man seeing the wtc in movies and shows and watching videos like these taken before the attacks makes it's seem so unreal that they're gone...wish I could've seen em with my own eyes but i was a newborn then
Nooooooo
Could you warn them of the impending tragedy while you are at it?
Looking at everything inside furniture, railings ,art..all was gone turned to dust..crazy

Me and a date had dinner at Windows of the World on July 3, 1990. It was a beautiful night in Manhattan. Naturally, I'll never forget the experience and ehat came after.
Donny boy got laid after the dinner.
I’ve become really interested in the pre-9/11 WTC. It seemed like it was a real architectural marvel when it was still standing. But also seeing all of the employees who most likely never made it out that fateful day… eerie.
You just want to shout at the screen "get out and don't come back."

This was about six months before it happened , so many of the people who operated / ran those boutiques and shops in this video may well have been there on that day . I hope that they all made it out .

the boutiques were undeground so they were easier to evacuate
2 kinds of people survived that day. Those who work there that were on vacation, and those that called in sick.😮
I miss those beautiful buildings 😢
I was conceived in late July 1968 weeks before tower 1 began it's journey skyward and was born 3 months after tower 2 started going up and grew up with them,
It was 1976 and i was 7 yrs old and off school sick and was watching a documentary on the construction and my mind was blown when i saw them on the screen.
Also i'm autistic and led a lonely childhood and even tho i had a younger estranged brother and sister, i considered the towers my brother and sister and it was my dream to go by the time i'm 30.
I turned 30 in 1999 and wasn't financially stable enough to go, so i made a promise to go in 3 to 5 years, and 2 years later i watched them collapse, i couldn't believe it and my heart sank because no matter how rich or successful i become i'll never ever stand on the top of the world and that makes me so sad.
I almost cry this beautiful tower is no more
Just 6 months later all this beauty would be a pile of rubble.
So beautiful ❤️! Always wanted to visit, but the opportunity passed me by.
I'm pretty sure the black waitress at 2:35 was one staff member of the Windows On The World team. I have seen her picture on the 9/11-obituary-website. She did not survive 9/11. May her soul rest in peace.
Was was her name?
That’s sad
I think she did survive
I think she survive
That waitress is Tabitha - she is alive. The video showed only the bar (Greatest Bar on Earth) where Windows on the World or Wild Blue guests would have cocktails before and after t heir reservations. GBOE was open to the public for lunch and dinner; no reservations required and dress was casual attire. There was live music or DJs in the evening. Thurs night was Mambo Night and the line would queue up around 4pm at the ground floor lobby level.
How were cockpit doors not secure in 2001? That is madness!
I remember when they'd invite people to see from the cockpit mostly kids but parents would be there as well.
Edit: mid flight
@@FrankieWilde2021 This happened to me as a kid in New Zealand.
They were secure, they gained entry by unknown means, they make out like the doors were plastic.
@@rowdyelitehater8595They must have took people hostage
The cockpit doors were locked and flight attendants had a key. The hijackers observed on previous flights approximately what time flight attendants would open the door to ask the pilots if they wanted anything to eat or drink. That is when they made their move. That is why the planes were all hijacked about a 1/2hr into flight.
Thoughts on the black employee at 2:34? Did she perish or was she not working that day?
I've been a server for 10 years now, and for some reason seeing that footage from inside the restaurant somehow made the thought of 9/11 even more terrifying. I can really imagine the sheer terror and chaos that must have insued for the all employees and customers...
This makes my heart ache
I wanna believe the Twin Towers and everyone we lost are still having a grand time in heaven . I just hate they had to suffer all that to get there
This is sad…….I wonder how many of the people going to work didn’t make it out six months later.
72 employees and 92 customers were trapped in the restaurant on 9/11, multiple calls came from the restaurant for help. Many of the people seen in the footage falling to their deaths were from the restaurant including the famous Falling Man image of the guy falling head first in the restaurant’s uniform. Windows on the World was on the top two floors. The head chef survived because he was waiting for the elevator up when the first plane hit.
@@osatocooley7080 wow that head chef prolly stared at the ceiling lying in bed at night that first year after 9/11 thinking how? That survivor guilt has to be brutal...

i have never seen a video of the inside of windows on the world...
I use that restaurant at the World Trade Center as the wallpaper on my computer, and I imagine looking out and having dinner with a woman I met there by chance.
Anyone who was at Windows on the World at the time of the attack would have perished. There was no way for them to get out of the building and no way for someone to get to them to be saved. All of these people would have died a horrible death full of pain and suffering. Many of them would jump. No one deserves to die like that. Absolutely no one.
And to think I had pending plans to visit end of Aug. 2001, & that restaurant was 1st on my list. I couldn't wait to see the view. O, well....
I hate that 9/11 happened and so many people from these towers died that day. May they rest in peace.
I hate it too! I use it never existed
Thanks for sharing - my first time watching this. I saw one of the waitress "Tabitha" in the video.
Did the World Trade Center have a movie theater? It’s the one thing I haven’t read about so far
I'd consider it to be more of a cinema. In observatory inside World Trade Center 2, there was a small room where visitors would sit in to watch a video called, "Manhattan Magic", basically a trailer for the Observation Deck.
Even before 9/11, I absolutely hated massive skyscrapers like that. There's no way I would have been able to eat an actual meal up there, that's for sure.
I had a business lunch up there in ‘91 and I know what you mean. I felt vertigo whenever I walked from the table.
Imagine that.. sitting eating breakfast and BOOM your life is over....
And people were jumping off this mug. I can't right now. I got vertigo. Yeah man.. it's now 23 years ago 😢😢😢
I remember the Warner Brothers store in the basement showing at 3:40. We bought a Batman pen from there!
I can only pity those who grab a bite to eat while they're in the current One World Observatory; most of their cuisine options are comparable to any generic food court. Also incredible is the fact that their only restaurant (if it can even be called that) is accessible from a ticket to visit the observatory, meaning that, effectively, someone's paying for both an observatory ticket and their meal, even if those customers don't care for the former. I just miss that Windows On The World gave diners a view without the additional surcharge; just pay for the meal while also having a panoramic view that's $0.00.
I do want to visit One World Trade Center and the memorial site one day. But a part of me feels like I'll be disappointed, because I was born before 9/11. I wish I could've had my parents take me to the Twin Towers in the time frame of 7 years I was around to.
R.l.P. to aII these peopIe six months Iater♥️
Just looking at the footage of everything and to think that after the collapse would be only fine grey dust and twisted steel beams, its as if all the furnishings of every floor including all the people were pulverised into a fine powder, takes some getting your head around when you think about it.
It’s interesting how much it looks like the new windows on the world in the new World Trade Center. I went there in September 2021
1/2 year before the towers went down.
At 3:07 I see Cerberus Pyrotronics MXL fire alarm speaker strobes. Did those alarms go off on 9/11? Because all I ever hear is that loud one in building 7.
Those alarms were probably all the people who were trapped could hear before dying or the sirens outside as they jumped out.
2:13 were they ordering beers lol?
Pretty surreal me and my family were there on that Summer of 2001
Pierces the heart,

Well if I ever get a time machine I will definitely go back to see the towers. And steal that tapestry right before the big ones hit.
I've never liked being in tall buildings like that.
It bothers me more now than it did then. How.fast time goes. It still doesn't seem real

Very eerie, haunting, interesting all at the same time. Part of our tragic history unfortunately....
Between visits to this grand restaurant, I had read about the wine steward - the man who ran the fantastic wine cellar there, and on my next visit, I asked our server to mention this to him. Shortly thereafter, the steward came to our table and was appreciative that I took the time to share what I had learned about him. He graciously invited us inside his cellar, and gave us a grand tour. My date and I were transfixed as he pointed out their incredible selection....some wines well over 100 years old, and explained the inner workings of his cellar in the sky. At the end of this spontaneous tour, he gifted us a bottle of a very fine wine, which was easily the finest wine I had ever had the pleasure of tasting. It was a wonderful addition to an already beautiful evening at WOTW. Naturally, I wonder...to this day, if this gentleman survived the attack. I remain so very thankful to him for taking the time to introduce my date - who has since passed away, and I to his world. The entire staff at WOTW were extremely kind & courteouss to us, and.........🙏🙏R.I.P. to all those who perished.
A wine cellar?? 😁😁😁
@@lassedk4955 Yes, a magnificent wine cellar in the sky, but nothing you can imagine. Most diners at the restaurant never saw it, but I was fortunate. Everything at WOTW was on a grand scale, and my late companion & myself were invited inside the "cellar" - which is a relative term, by the man who ran it, for an exquisite evening of discovery....1450 feet in the air.....me, this kid from Newark, NJ, who saw the towers going up over those years....
If you're referring to Kevin Zraly, of the "cellar in the sky," then yes, he did survive.
@tenplusten1116 I have forgotten his name, but if that is he, I am thrilled that he did survive. My guess is that at such an early hour, he wouldn't have been there yet. Still, he lost many people that he knew & worked with. The tentacles of the murderous tragedy spread wide.
Lovely story, and a reminder that there are still nice people around.
This is absolutely surreal to witness. Wish the towers were rebuilt despite the controversy
There were plans for it to be rebuilt, having the memorials where the original towers were (similar to the memorial fountains) and have the towers rebuilt next to it as they were, but even taller!!! And was even financially backed by Donald Trump and many family members wanted it too!! But corporate greed, politics and back room deals got in the way and we got was is built now :(
@@lapsitexillis I can definitely see how it would be distasteful. I would’ve thought rebuilding them would’ve given off a message of solidarity but I suppose that’s why they only built the One World Trade.

Seeing the staff and knowing none of them made it out alive (except one but that was bc he was getting his glasses fixed in the lobby) 😳
My friend worked in the restaurant and overslept that day. He has never been the same since.
Don't forget the hostess directing customers up to the restaurant from below the point of impact. She had been ordered by the head manager to go a few floors below because the express elevator was out of order. The hostess was the only employee to clock in for work and survive that day. The head chef had not yet reported for duty.

That explains some things (e.g. the people wearing jeans at the bar). My dad went to the WTC in '01 and told me he wasn't allowed in the Windows on the World restaurant because he was wearing jeans.
@azariacba exactly, it was extremely formal (and expensive) but the WTC had these affordable options, especially for tourists
No one would ever convince me to get in a skyscraper like that, let alone have supper there.
