In this video I restore a rare Bandai Electronics FL Gun Professional console. The console as you can see on the video the console is beige even on the box and my de-yellowing method had almost no effect, so I'm sure this was the original color. However it was still unusable because the battery terminal were corroded so badly. The corrosion had even broken one of the terminals. I didn't even bother to test it before opening it up because the terminals were too corroded to conduct the electricity anyways.
To disassemble the console I had to desolder the battery terminals. One of the terminal was so badly corroded it was hard to desolder. The oxide layer was holding the wire and I had to pull really hard to get it out of the oxide while heating the non-oxidized solder on the inside.
Once everything was taken apart I was able to test the device with external power source. Luckily it worked despite the board having some tacky substance on it. I cleaned the board by blowing off loose dirt and then I washed it with isopropyl alcohol.
The back label was peeled off because it didn't look like it would survive washing and deyellowing process. I don't do that with Gameboys because I know the labels used on those wont be damaged. The label was also damaged and yellowed so I recreated it in photoshop and my good friend was able to print me a new label.
Huge thank you for watching the video. I have added some link bellow to some of the tools and gear needed. The links are an easy and free way to support my work. They are affiliate links and after you go to amazon through one of those links and buy anything (not only the product I've linked) I get a small commision. Also I have link to my Instagram account and to my t-shirts, which are all designed by me.

It's incredible that it doesn't have a volume control. I can just imagine the sounds from the back seat on long car rides through the french countryside......
Considering that the "music" is the first two bars of Hockey Night in Canada, I suggest the Quebec countryside?
LOL I was going to mention the same thing. Yup road trips would be sooo much fun. :P
@@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co That would make sense. He mentioned that the label was in French so I immediately thought of France not Canada
Yeah that game console will be flying out through the window. That sound is migraine generator.
As a french girl i can assure you that this evil object would have passed through the window of the car x)
I'm french, so here is the translation of the instructions :
"Two moving cowboys must shoot each other.
Cactuses are obstacles, three hits destroy them.
However, a stagecoach is passing by regularly between the fighters, and if you shoot it, you lose points."
You're welcome :)
Im learning french and my skills werent enough to fully understand merci beaucoup 😘
@@agustinfigueroa2516 A pleasure to help :D
héhé there is typo at "enter les combattants" classique du Japon
lol i thought the cactus was hostage on their knees and hands up in the air.
Effectivement il y a une erreur à la base, mais il a aussi créé une erreur en refaisant l'étiquette: la diligence est devenue la "diligense". Dommage....

You are the only vintage console restoration dude worth watching. I know you do tons of other stuff, but please always have vintage gaming in your back pocket. I, we, LOVE it.
I never thought id here that "when you die" sound again. Most of the hand helds in the 80s i had came with that sound drove me nuts.
please god dont let me here that in my sleep tonight.
that "when you die" sound is called The Funeral March, part of a larger piece of classical music named Piano Sonata No. 2 by Chopin. look it up!

Nice to see such a unique Console being restored. And it's oddly satisfying to see it's getting back to his former Glory.
Also can we say, that the Duck-tor sounds good and funny, when he speaks? Great Job keep it up :)
It’s amazing how we can reach people in different ways without knowing it. I recently went through a rough patch in my life, I got infected with Covid 19, I spent two months in bed, with a lot of problems to breath. Relaxing was crucial to get air into my lungs and your videos helped me a lot; for real, A LOT. Thank you so much for what you are doing
I hope you're doing okay now 🙏

I know how it feels to lose someone you care about. He better be treated well up there. Wish the best for you and your family
I’ll never have the amount of patience it must’ve taken to repaint the faceplate with a toothpick
fr 🤣🤣🤣
And the balls of steel of not masking where paint was not supposed to go!
Haha! Yes it took a while, but literally biggest job was recreating the sticker with those logos etc. It took several hours to do
@@OddTinkering Very late to the party, but for jobs like repainting the faceplate, you might want to look into getting a small rubber paint roller like they use for printing.
I just love how they managed to make an error in the french translation on the second paragraph :
"However, a diligence regularly passes between the fighters ans if you touch it, you lose points" is what should the sentence mean but
1. It's "Diligence" with a C like in English (this one is false only on the new edition, little typo mistake)
2. "enter" doesn't mean anything in french, the correct word should be "entre" which means "Between"
there you go, here's your french lesson for today
i will add that it's "régulièrement" and not "réguliérement"
That's actually cool piece of info. I don't know any French but even if I did I probably would have still added the errors to the new label
@@OddTinkering yup it's ok to keep the original errors, i remember when i was a child some of the translated text in french were completely incomprehensible. xD
Your right
Je suis français aussi
@@OddTinkering ouais enfin gars, tu mets que des jeux PAL et souvent FR dans tes vidéos ^^
I've been waiting for electronics for a looooong time! Finally another one.
There will be more. But I like doing other stuff too even though they are not usually as popular videos
Your videos are so helpful and informative. Yesterday, they inspired me to take apart an old Xbox 360 controller that had a faulty trigger button. I followed what I saw on your videos and not only repaired it myself and cleaned everything correctly, I also used parts off of another controller to repair the one in question. Now it looks and works like new!! You saved me some money!! Thank you so much!! I look forward to more videos in the future!!

I love the way you keep things like stickers and decals where you can to put them back. It keeps the end results authentic. I also loved the way you checked the colour. It made me feel that you really care about the item you’re restoring.
Your channel is cool. I recommend they play this on tvs at the Krusty Krab

Some kids were definitely have a heated battle in the 80s on this and one of them knocked a full can of RC Cola onto it.

Awesome restoration. Nice to hear you speak during the sponsor portion. Scrubbing the Duckter's bottom with the toothbrush was hilarious! Hearing the "funeral dirge" tune on this game reminds me of my vintage Ideal Electronic Detective game. This game seems like it would be neat to have in a collection. Great job restoring this electronic game!

Writing correctly is a sign of respect.
If someone can't afford the time to proofcheck (or at least EDIT), why should everybody afford the time to read the message?
If you REALLY think you need to write an essay to do what's basically common sense, there's a problem...

I love these videos. I don't know a thing about restoration, but it's pretty fun to watch
19:05 - I've heard that sound on various "Game over" screens before. Anyone know where it's originally from?
it's a piece of classical music by Chopin. Piano Sonata No. 2 has a well-known passage called the Funeral March, which can be heard below. it's commonly used in western culture as a "death song":
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Frederic_Chopin_Piano_Sonata_No.2_in_B_flat_minor_Op35_-_III_Marche_Funebre.ogg

Great video!! Thank you, so cool to watch. I like the Ducktor being involved too, always makes me smile man.

Always cool to see what's inside those old machines. That 4-bit D553 CPU was used in quite a few handhelds of the era e.g. Pacman, Dracula etc. It had 2K of ROM spread out over 8 banks, but only 96 nibbles (48 bytes) of RAM.
That's pretty awesome. I used to play one of these when I was a kid. It belonged to my uncle when he was young and when I went to my grandmother's, I would play that whilst my mom gossiped with her sisters and mom. Great memory thanks!

Sometimes I wonder if people from Sony or Nintendo, etc, watch these and feel gratified that someone else cares about their products as much as they do
I am always in awe that simple metal and plastic can be used to play games and have face to face conversations with people thousands of miles away. we can take metal and make a plane to fly us around the world or launch us to the moon and other places millions of miles away. we can take pictures of planets that would take us millions of years to reach or see the very atoms that make life itself. when you stop to think about it it seems that the very metals themselves have a kind of magic to them allowing us to take them and create with them. (why can I write like this in youtube comments but not in me essays for school)
