- Basketball, football, tennis and even darts--see every time the short-lived sports game On The Nose appeared on The Price Is Right.
Here it comes, television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes the fabulous sixty-minute Price is Right!
We are showcasing episodes not viewed in decades. Starting from Season 11 (1982), this is the first season when animal furs were no longer offered as prizes, supporting Bob’s advocacy of animal rights in memory of his wife Dorothy Jo.
To celebrate what would have been Bob Barker's 100th birthday, the channel is also featuring episodes from the debut season of The "New" Price Is Right in 1972.

Can I just point out how much BETTER the comments look here when you don't have bots like James spamming everyone and starting with other people here? It's NICE! PLEASE consider sticking to compilations and shorts for this reason.

This is from various episodes of The Price is Right featuring EVERY playing of On the Nose. On the Nose was on the show from 9/14/84 to 11/22/85 and had a total of 7 wins and 12 losses.
Holly is a sweetheart and Bob picks with her. ☹️
This is amazing. I would love to see more compilations of games like this! Telephone Game, Professor Price, or Shower Game next?!
Horrible game for the contestants. Almost impossible to win. Trash.
As a P{rice is Right nerd, I love things like this. More like this! I would love to see all the plays of Gallery Game! I haven't seen a play of it since I was a kid.
Yeah me too! I'm hoping for some other compilations of short lived games like Telephone Game, Professor Price or Shower Game!
I figured it was played too many times for a compilation like this, but apparently it was played only 24 times (and in only one season).
The first time it was played may have also been the first episode of TPIR to air in most of the San Francisco area (the parts that didn't have Sacramento's CBS station on their cable) in almost a decade.
9:28 "This game could create problems for the show." 🤣
Bob Barker was a very talented athlete. He played college basketball. He enjoyed golf. He got a black belt in taekwondo. Roger Dobkowitz in an interview said Bob always wanted to talk sports, depending on the season.
no wonder he did well in Hole In One (Or Two)
Great collage but never cut out the car prizes!
Contestants Alexa, Roy, and Laura should've been awarded MLB contracts and the cars.
24:41 tennis was just an awful idea. If you had never played tennis, you had a 0% chance. Absolutely cruel.
My main beef with this game was there was no advantage given to the contestant that got them closer to the goal. Like in Hole-in-One, the better you do at getting the prices in order, the shorter the putt is, but here, you just got more turns, but in the same spot. If you have no hand-eye coordination AND you are nervous from being on live TV, that's a nightmare scenario, and it doesn't matter if you have 1 turn or 20, it's going to be very, very hard to do what is necessary to win. If they changed the rules to make it so the better you did, the closer you get to the target, I think that would have made the game much more fair.
This is exactly why the game belonged on another show. The Price Is Right is not a show about athletic ability. It's about knowing prices. This game was rightfully retired when they realized that the athletic ability was the only thing that mattered. If they wish to bring it back, they should do it your way. Two chances regardless, but if they get the price right, it's a foot away from arm's reach. If they're the farthest away, good luck.
The current products don't ever give this game any thought, however. They weren't even in showbiz yet in 1985, after all.
I said it before and I said it again. Stick with the darts and it maybe stay longer like in many international versions
To me, doing well in the pricing part of this game does not give a contestant the same advantage they would have in the Hole in One Game. Naturally, you were going to have more losses than wins. But I still like it and wish they would bring it back.
That was a difficult game.
15:44 "One chance is all you need, really." Roy was like, "Challenge accepted!"
And baseball and basketball were the only two sports that had wins...
good game, but poorly executed
The reason that they retired On the Nose because not too many contestants were athletic and ended up losing the game.
Seven wins and 12 losses was *not* a good enough record if you ask me.
Woow! What a treat this morning! Thanks for the compliation, TBE :)
At the risk of sounding critical, TPIR is most fun when I can participate in the 'bidding'. By editing out the introduction of the car, you've eliminated that aspect of the game (kind of hard to guess the price a car/trailer if I know nothing about it.)
It's a small gripe, but I feel it is justified.
With the On the Nose gone, no more hearing about Bob talk about his time as a pitcher with the Springfield MO Retreanders
The different sports may have been more involved than it was worth. Softball seemed the fairest and Barker was good at it. Football may have been fair if it were a circle without the player’s head in the way.
👍💯
I watched hundreds of episodes of TPIR in the 1980s and 1990s, and I thought I must have seen every pricing game from that era. But I'm pretty sure that I had never seen "On the Nose" until I saw this video. It makes me wonder if there are any other games that I missed.
IIRC, there were five games besides Gallery Game retired at some point in the 1990s: Bump, Give or Keep, Split Decision, SuperBall, and Super Saver. How do I know this? Except for Give or Keep, Bob mentioned this during the 1990s episode of "Decades Week" when they played Cover Up; the logos of the other five games were the initial symbols at the bottom.
Nice work doing this compilation!
But yes, this game was awful. Physical events only work for racing and mini-golf on Price.. making them play baseball, football, tennis, etc to win a car just doesn't work, especially if a contestant is frail or not talented in sports, and ends up losing easily.
don't forget your Skee-Ball skills you were brushing up on at your local Chuck E Cheese's (SuperBall)
@@smashwhammy I like your profile picture
I loved that game! They need to bring this back for the premiere 😤
