Spirituality is one of CCCADI’s core lines of work. Over the past four decades, CCCADI has redirected the narrative around sacred African-based traditions, and has amplified scholars’ voices who educate the public about the beauty and sanctity of these belief systems. On October 1st at 7pm, Elder Priestess of Yemaya and presenter, Angela Fontanez will be leading The Orisha Tradition: An African Worldview introductory workshop about the traditions that survived the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and flourished throughout the world.
Angela Fontanez, an Elder Priestess of Yemaya and the workshop’s presenter, will intertwine the video’s interviews with scholars and practitioners with performances as well. The workshop will also elaborate on Fontanez’s own commentary about the traditions that survived the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and flourished throughout the world.

I am grateful to have found this video. I am African/American and raised Christian. I love the holy trinity and I love Jesus the Christ. But I feel like my relationship to the spirit has outgrown the confines of the religion. I have always been drawn to the path. But was always taught to be afraid. I can no longer deny the power within me and I am seeking to find TMHG.

I felt exactly what you are describing. I found a great community that helped me tremendously. Check out the Orisha Hoodoo Coven on facebook. It is a community dedicated to us for the purpose of learning more about African Spirituality and how it is practiced by African Americans especially those who are ADOS. My life changed after joining this group and interacting with others. I learned so much. Hope this helps you expand your belief system and find what you are seeking. Peace and blessings

Christianity is enforce religion on African People, Africans are People of Nature, the African understand the forces of nature, because the balance with it. That why no where on Earth that endow with nature phenomenal like African Continent, African Continent is the land of beginning every world religion evolve from Ancient African veneration of Nature. For example Christianity evolve from Veneration of the Sun, the name of the Sun was later change to Jesus, when Roman Empire took Control of Christianity. The African were the first to Venerate the Sun, because Sun is giver of life, the Sun give Earth rain, our People understand it, by Venerating the Sun, the role Sun plays in human existence, That why Christian go to Church on Sunday, the day of Veneration the Sun, these day have going on for thousands of years. But the West kept the secret to their Christian follower, because Christianity become organize Religion, because of Monetary gain and Control, which is core of Western Civilization of adore Materialism in the place of nourishing the Mother Earth. That why African Continent is different. the adoration of the nature is very powerful in Continent, throughout it History, That why the Nature and human co exist then anywhere on Erath. We Yoruba we call Sun Oyee, and still Venerate.

Came across this video searching for information on the path I was brought to. I recently found out I'm 53.8% Nigerian. I don't have much support here. I'm born and raised in America as a Christian that didn't work for me. No disrespect to Christian it just didn't work for me. I thank you for this video it was very informational to my soul. I'm learning to do my shadow work and control my mind. Blessings!! Ase'

I just came across this video as well. Who is also live in the States and I was born and raised as a Christian as well. We have a lot too digest. I find myself crying so much because they even tried to strip us of our belief. 😞 but its okay because our ancestors are waiting for us. My ancestors came from Nigeria as well.
@Angela yes please reprint you're books because you know they're doing everything they can to keep knowledge from us.

Very nice! note: Spanish, Lucumi, amd Yoruba, ase __all the names of the orisa are Yoruba, even those inflected/spelled in Lucumi with a Indio/Spanish influence and in Candomble with an Indio/Portuguese influence: mojuba, ase, modupe, orisa, iya, baba, babalawo, apetebi, iyawo, ide, epo. oyin. oti, ebo, egungun, ad infinitum, not to mention, OLODUMARE, Eledumare are Yoruba words. Thus, the African worldview must include acknowledgement of the vocabulary from an African language, which in this case is the Yoruba language, one of the languages spoken in Nigeria where the Yoruba predominantly live.

I am so proud to be a Yoruba woman from Nigeria but living in the UK. It's so unfortunate that the colonial master left many Yorubas in Nigeria with ancestors of other countries through Islam and Christianity(no offence to the followers as am a Christian too 😂 but seeking to go back to appreciating my OWN ancestors). The orisha worshippers in Yoruba land, Nigeria are now the minorities, can you believe it!!🙄🙄Thank you so much for this video and also thanks to those that wrote positive comments too. OBATALA means "OBA - ALA" in English is "KING OF PURITY OR WHITENESS" then also means "OBA TOTE A'ALA" meaning The KING THAT COME FIRST OR FIRST SETTLELER". The word or the Title OBA title which means KING is a Royal title for anyone occupying the highest position of an head of the people & as the custodian head of our Culture/Traditions in Yoruba's Land, that's why all kings or any kingship tittle in Yorubas Culture/Tradition are tittle OBAS, after OBATALA.

Cuba is big and maybe had a really big international influence, but does Santeria really overshadow all of... Candomble.. Vodou.. Obeah... Comfa.. Shango?
This just one example but in New Orleans they could easily make a similar complaint against native-french descended people becoming the face of Voodoo, but there's little need for that as people have instead rebuilt ties with many other practitioners keeping African spiritual traditions alive all around the diaspora.
