Indeed the first main vocalist was Vaam Ntxawg. I was fortunate enough to see him sing live when I was younger. The band in the 80's was mostly comprised of my cousins and brother inlaws. As a teenager my cousins and I would setup the equipment for the band on stage and travel with the band to some extent. My brother is the bass player on the band and he is currently a Pharmacist. Many thanks to all the faithful listeners.
imma cry. omg. i remember my parents listening to these songs when i was younger. it brings back a lot of memories of being hmong in a new nation. having no country of your own. LOVE it. great legend they are indeed. THANKS.
Don't no how I bounced unto this but hey, it's my dad's time all over again. Hehe. Used to wake up on weekends with his cassetteplayer jamming to this song!
Anybody know this Hmong song that I'm looking for, it's a duet (a man and a woman singing it), some of the middle phrases go something like this in Hmong: man--"Why am I called John and you are called Mary" woman--"Don't know why you are called John and I am called Mary" both--"Cannot think through who we've become" I listened to it as a kid in the 80s. I like to find that song again. It might even be sung by Kaab Nqausvas...??
Kab nqos vias, in the early days, they called CRICKET. Wrong meaning, kab nqos vias should have defined as CICADA or closed to that. Kab nqos vias=Cicada Kab npis=Cricket

These guys are the best. Over 30 years and their music is still relevant. The first popular Hmong band in the U.S.
