Here is my official playlist for this series of videos. ua-cam.com/play/PLPtwr3QSRr7r7pLgktEvWInx6QOQgBAHr.html
That brass instrument is a 5 valved euphonium. I played a 4 valved version in junior high umpteen million years ago.
Levins were good guitars. They were a Scandinavian company that were bought out by Martin before they went out of production. They had celluloid before plastic. It does look like a nice arch top; May Bell, was that a nod towards Ma Carter? She played Gibson arch tops.
Playing for decades
Flat top
No neck tilt
Me happy
Leo did it right
That fretboard wood he didn't know about is zebrawood. It's an african hardwood that's attractive for veneers and fretboards. Too brittle to make a neck with.
They use it for acoustic bodies too. I had an Ibanez in it.
It looks awesome
Muitos instrumentos bacanas e diferente!!
Rising Tide looks great
But ,,,, Buffing Machine needed
I once bought a Martin without the case for $500 and to get the exact case cost me $700 then I sold it for $3500 because of the case.
Rad video man!
Thank you man 😎
Rising tide is nice!
I really enjoy your videos at the Mount Dora Flea Market Hank. Really like Jacobs' guitars...hopefully I can get him to make me one someday. After seeing his work he's got me thinking design ideas!!!
Hi Keith, thanks for liking these videos. If you have the money, check out Kiesel guitars. There is a builder on their site. The "Jacobs" guitars are cool looking, but the QC hasn't impressed me, for the price. Just being honest.
That May Bell was super clean if he was right about the age. Even if he was wrong. 😝
Did you notice the price on that orange double cut Jay Turser? I have one of those with a plain top. I got it for a song and it's one of my favorite guitars.
Concour on baritone. The sigma by Martin that's nice guitar
That was cool. That dude with the crazy neck thrus. The only thing tho is the back of the necks looked like they werent very smoothly sanded. Hills in the back lol. Idk?
That might be from the Tru-Oil... I think it is just brushed on.
Missed this show!!! Arrrggggg
@29:40 ...um. Plastic was invented in 1862. The advent of synthetic plastics for industrial use was in 1907.
The guy was talking about the plastic being called Bakelite. It was referred to as Bakelite instead of plastic back then. That stuff is before my time, I don't know the exact years of the names.
He doesn't have his facts straight, but he is meaning Bakelite to standard plastic. There are manufacture differences.
@@HankCoffey Yes. Invented by Leo Baekeland (hence Bakelite) in 1907 in Yonkers NY. And patented on December 7, 1909 for commercial use.
@@HankCoffey I get it.
Hey that's by me
man if you can have like a band in the background on that stage playing that riff that you can swing the camera on , like on cue during the next vid, that would be BOSS!
I would love to incorporate music in my videos. But UA-cam copyright claims almost everything. I muted the small amount of blues rhythm playing a guy was doing. Because the UA-cam system will find some blues song that matches that and copyright claim my video. "This blues riff is property of Bubba T Jenkins". I'm tired of that ****.
Dammit man, I just missed it.
Long wait til the next one to.
Meant to take my grandson to this one, yea, he lives only 5 miles from there. I on the other hand live an hour from there.
I always wanted an autoharp for the hell of it, but I resisted because I heard they’re a nightmare to tune.
It’s a susaphone!
It’s spelled “Sousaphone,” created by famous bandleader John Phillip Sousa.
And I’m embarrassed to admit that I know that.
It's not a Sousaphone. Sousaphone's are those big circular instruments with a giant bell at the top that wrap around the player and are mostly used by marching bands.
The instrument in the video is a euphonium, and a “duplex” model at that (notice the two bells) which means it's very old, since that style of euphonium is no longer in standard usage.
Fire Brand Gibson
500
I'll take it
Sorry those rising tide or whatever look ruff
That one with the Destroyer type body, had the high e string floating off the bottom of the headstock. And it looks like it was varnished or clear coated after the guitar was already together! Garbage.
...And the one with all the holes and shapes that he said was light enough to throw around!...yeah, throw it right into a garbage can with a match stick for starters. Lol
It’s a double bell euphonium.
Nice 😎👍
I've bought they had it every 3 months. On the second sunday
Not every 3, it's 5 times a year. Check the pinned comment.
Baritone brass bflat
Nice, I thought it was too small to be a tuba
@@HankCoffey yeah very similar. Many think the sousaphone is a tuba. Lol. I called all fat brass tubas back in the day. I stuck with drums but I sat in front being a trumpet Coronet player for a couple of years in junior high and one show I played the baritone solo part. It was rad for a low end brass. Lol.
@@robertclarkguitar Cool man
Nope, it's a euphonium. First, it has two bells, which are only found on euphoniums. Second, it has five valves (very rare, it's usually four) while baritones only have three.
Just a suggestion, maybe you should try Waves Clarity vst on your audio. That one should block all the noise except the voices.
I just checked it out. It seems that Clarity will leave some artifacts on the voice. People will complain about that, they will complain about the silence, if I use background music, they will complain about that. Other than muting copyrighted music, I am just leaving the mic audio as it is now.
Alot of turds there. I remember when The Great Kat was making her rounds to the talk shows in the late 80s/early 90s. Morton Downey Jr. and Geraldo. Maybe even Headbangers Ball if memory serves.
It's a French Horn
And the pickgaurd is bakelite
It’s not a French horn, I think it’s a iPhone!
Susaphone!
Not even close. It's a euphonium.
You have those crate amps in the background. Any way you could do a video on one? I’ve seen them for sale at at pawn shop and they look interesting, you have a shitload so I gather they are good?
They are decent sounding, for mostly stage volume playing. The heads are so rare that there is no reason to review one. I don't think you will ever find one. And the combo I have doesn't work. I've had them over 20 years or I would sell them honestly.
I will think about doing a video on them for content.
@@HankCoffey thanks for the reply. Do you think it’s a good amp for about 200.00 , there’s a store near me that has like 5 in boxes and one matching cabinet
@@seanknp1 Well, if they have 5 heads? Those are unicorns. Because I don't think I've seen one for sale in 10 years. The cabs are even more rare. They are worth $200. But the combos? They don't sell for that. Not a high demand amplifier. $100-$150 is a good deal on the 2x12 combos. If you are in Florida, I might be interested in the cabinet.
I wonder how many stolen instruments are sold there
Mabel Carter... should help out your autoharp repertoire
Guess you are right about the complaining. But I'm glad, you at least, checked it out. Keep it up, I like your videos very much.
Thank you Neoland!
Plastic was first invented in 1907.... Lol not in the 50s
Right, the first plastic was called Bakelite, that is being said in this video. The guy is trying to say other forms of plastic wasn't invented until then... I don't have time to research the history of plastic. lol.
@@HankCoffey That dude should have taken the $500 he claims he was offered. Just because something is old and rare doesn't make it valuable.
@@stephenhawkingsfootballboo7885 If it is laminated like the Harmony and Silvertones of the era, it's made of pretty cheap material. I got mad and busted a 50s Silvertone years ago. It broke into cheap pieces of thin laminate with particle wood bracing. It was a sentimental loss, but the guitar was a POS in reality.
