It's a programmed using soundchip and isn't accurate as the original SNES. I can't see ANY point of vinyl record from 8-bit to 16-bit. Only 32-bit PS1 or more. Using some "CD" quality record.
Erm....no it’s not it was recorded directly from the console, and then professionally mastered in a studio. It comes directly from the console, not a soundchip recording.
The audio is phenomenally clean. It's amazing how much richness this recording brings to music I've heard almost all of my life. I'm hearing tones and effects that I've never caught before.
Originally bought from selectstartrec.bigcartel.com Sold out for a very long time now. If there are any copies available on the site it’s not this specific one and the audio quality won’t be as good
I can't believe you actually got a record from this guy, I ordered $100 worth of records from him a few years ago and I never got them. He kept lying about "they're on hand" and "shipping next week" until the time period where I couldn't get my money back from PayPal had surpassed, then he just ignored all of my emails after that. Don't ever order from Select/Start Records, it's a total rip off.
Not sure to be honest, I don’t own the lathe. I hear some people say it sounds ok enough, heard others that don’t like it. Hard to say any which way, but it probably goes without saying that it’s not gonna compare to the pressed sound. If it’s your only option, might as well get a copy of any version you can find
Anthony, got a question regarding your setup/prep for the records. How do you keep it so static-free and clean sounding? I have a Denon DP300F, I use the carbon brush but it's ultra static-y when I flip it, and it doesn't always "brush out" the static. Hope you can share your method/ways of maintaining it, I'd love to hear my records without static like your vids!
I first wipe the records with a soft microfiber brush to eliminate fingerprints or grease or anything like that. This usually builds up some static. I use a cheap Audio Technica anti static brush to get the static off. While holding the record in my hands, I wipe it in the same way you would with a carbon brush and it surprisingly does a good enough job. It’s impossible to get it completely clean without using a professional machine, but for me it does the job well enough. The static goes away nearly instantly which always impresses me
$220 isn’t too far off from what I’ve seen it sell for in the past. I had a second copy I let go for $200 more than a year ago, so if you’re wanting a copy, $220 isn’t too bad of a price I suppose
If you’re selling it, $220 is great. If you’re buying, $220 is about as fair as you can get, it’s unlikely you’ll get a price lower than that. If you have a connection to the soundtrack or it means something to you, it’s worth the price
We don’t have a Bandcamp, we have a bigcartel. This was sold on our bigcartel quite a long time ago and sold out whenever that was. I think there’s a few copies left as extras so your best shot is to message @selectstartrec on Instagram and ask there
@@vgmvinyl thanks! i'll send em a DM right away and test my luck haha. also thanks for the great content and fan interaction, as someone who is trying to get more into the world of game bootleg pressings i always check up here to inform myself more on certain releases and companies
No, this was years ago and we’ve all moved on. Select/Start obviously still exists from the original creator but I have not been involved since this release I make my own stuff for fun, but those are outside of this
I actually helped make this! I did the art for the album jacket and both of the labels on the record Super Mario 64 is being pressed by another company but all preorders have been sold out for a long time now
I did the first 4 releases, so Link to the Past, Yoshi’s Island, Sonic 2, and Super Mario World. Only the art though. There are some other albums I’ve been involved in that I have on this channel too (Twisted Metal 2 and Um Jammer Lammy) I like to keep busy :P I’ve helped many others get started with doing their own lathe soundtracks as well Super Mario 64 is being done by Raygun Records, find them on Instagram :)
This was 2 years ago. Nowadays many lathe places offer colors like milky white, transparent red, transparent green, transparent blue, and many places do picture discs as well. Most of the companies at the time of the comment only offered basic black or clear colors It was a different time
