- "Rick Plush and his 1970 Chevelle SS-454" is an interview segment of the documentary "Decade of Thunder" by Brian FitzGerald of Wichita, Kansas.
With his 1970 Chevelle SS 454, Rick has found his Dream Car. When you hear his story you will really appreciate the care and desire he has put into this machine. There are few Muscle Cars that have been restored to Original Condition to the extent of this beauty.
You really need to see this spotless engine compartment. Matching numbers... original filters... Better than when it came off the dealer's floor.
Where this, and all, Muscle Cars live... Out on the Open Road. We take this Classic out for a Cruise to better appreciate it's beautiful design.

Very nice car Brian. It is nice to see things put together to make the car CORRECT the way Chevrolet built it.
Thanks 👍
This is my favorite all time car. My brother bought a new one in 70. It was a 396 4 spd. Cranberry red, cowl induction hood, black stripes, black interior. After 60 years it still the best looking car around.
I must say Brian, this is the best video's that I've ever watched on the 1970 SS Chevelle. It brought me back to the day my father told me about his 70 SS,although his was the 350hp 396 four speed black vinyl top ,but rapped in the correct red with black stripes as yours. Your car is a absolute beauty.Thank you Brian for sharing this great video with use.
Thank you for that commendation! I put a lot of work into these movies. Please tell your friends about them. I hope you get a chance to look at the other 5 interviews. They are all part of "Decade of Thunder".
I'll be posting more movies, so if you subscribe to my channel you will be informed when they are uploaded.
I will let my friends know and also subscribe to your channel. Have a great night Brian.
Bravo Rick!!!!
She’s a Beauty!!!!
The 1970 Chevelle SS has always been my personal favorite. Love your video, attention to detail, your story about your Dad, and your opinions regarding the era of your Timeless Classic.... yes, gasoline!!! GREAT JOB!!!!
This was my first car in 1979 I need to get one back. Great video Dude.
Lucky. I can't believe your parents let you get something like that lol.
Truly a USA 1 example of a one of a kind '70 454 450 horsepower Super Sport. W had one when I was 4 and sold it when I was 7. Identical except it had A/C, Ivory interior and an 8 track factory mounted. My dad said the color was Cranberry red with the black stripes and I lobed the cowl hood door too! Must be a kid thing!
Beautiful ride.
Sweet ride! Gave me goosebumps.
My father in law has a 70 LS5 just like this, it to has Malibu on door panels, it was a early production car, 38 k miles on it survivor car untouched, and it has no smog pump, never did, one belt to drive water pump an alternator, all on single one groove deep pulley. You got one nice car , great job on it. I too bleed Chevy and my bandaids are bowties.
Nice! I have same color and trim as yours but mine is the L34 396. I just did a frame off paint job but most of car is original as yours. The thing I don't see much of is the front bumper guards. I got 'em also! Car was ordered also with visor vanity mirror which I managed to find (new GM mirror) as it was missing when I bought. I am second owner since 1972. Now has 53K miles. Has original engine and drive train with 4 speed Muncie, been refreshed but numbers match. Thanks for sharing, trying to get a video together on my 70. Oh yes, the tires are period correct, they're only about $280 each from Coker Tire! Probably listed as F70X14-B/2&2-BB--LTR in box 106 on build sheet. That's what's in my sheet anyway.
I’m in love, I had a 70 396/350 hp, silver/black stripes, 4-speed. Wish I had it now.
BEAUTIFUL Car! Please consider pulling those Cowl Grilles. I too thought they were missing on mine, but back in ‘87, Roger Ausleys Red and Beige LS6 cars never had them so left them bare. I made the mistake of putting the SS door panels on mine thinking the Malibu was incorrect, lol.
Mine was the CRR code as well. Code 63 Desert Sand with the 7 shade Beige interior! Ok, I’m feeling another mid-life crisis a brewing. THANK YOU for the great post!
I'm glad you liked it. Rick put enormous effort into restoring that beauty.
There are a LOT of addictions that are terrible, but an addiction to cars, especially old muscle cars is perfectly respectable.
WOW nice car sir and u did a great job.
That was my first car.same color but i had black vinyl roof and the 4 speed.
My uncle was the same way. I don't know him well, but every time I'd go to his house he had some new car and his previous one was gone. He had several Corvettes and quite a few other cars.
Very Nice !
I'm glad you liked it. This is one fine Chevelle.
I bought that tune from Digital Juice. It is called "ChasingTheSun" and comes from their series "Alternative Stacks".
Google/UA-cam is very scrupulous about music accountability. I have to prove I own the rights to any music I use on UA-cam before I can post a movie.
Dear APN,
I think so but not 100% sure. It seems like I did a closeup of the wheels and tires. Maybe you can see some data from that to find out for sure.
Later,
Brian
Beautiful car by the way
This guy has been locked up “over the years” standing with his hands behind his back at all times.
I've been introduced to 1969 Chevy ..but love Buick 455 69 70 ..there sweet .
Nice video production and editing! Of course I love the car! Did you have someone else do the audio video production? Nicely done!
Thanks! I did the whole piece (Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer). I have many more productions on my UA-cam Channel.

It one of those where the dorks on the assembly line put the SS upside-down on the grill.
Brain, beautiful car, ever think about having it dyno tested,i've always wanted to know what the real horsepower rating for the LS6 is.of course, the 450 rating was for insurance reasons.
im sure its over 500 hp if tuned properly
Really nice car. If I had unlimited money though, I would get the same car, except it would be black with white stripes, roll up windows, and 4 speed manual.
I would drive this around with a red headband on like Rambo , and would play rock music
car companies were absolute masters at being able to manipulate people's emotions.
Really? Hard to say so when they create so many failures. More like lightening strikes, they hit once in awhile.
Did they come with leather? In the movie Dazed & Confused Wooderson had a 70 Chevelle SS and as his buddies are piling in his car he says " Hey, hey, hey, hey , watch the leather man" lol. But seriously i never thought you could get leather even as an option.
No they didnt come with leather in 1970.
That’s called bullshittin’
Sweeeeeettttttttt !!!!
cowl induction seal is on upside down
dan fletcher How can you tell ?
Your face is upside frowned
$100,000 car
Looks like this guy doesn't drive this car over 20 MPH....too bad!
I think he is smart. The car is meant mostly for show.
Why own a 450+ hp car when you drive it like its got a 250 six in it?
As soon as you said automatic the video ended. Goodbye.
I'm not sure what that is all about. Go here to see the different cars in "Decade of Thunder":

true but electric puts out more power way faster the new tessla roadster runs 8,8 seconds in the quarter mile with a top speed of 250 mph
A Ford GT just went 300 mph and gas cars are way faster than 8s in the 1/4 mile. Electric cars still have a long way to go to catch gas car.
