Not being an experienced mechanic I rely on really detailed tutorials such as this when working on a project for the first time. Thank you for your excellent camera work and well thought out explanations. I will come back here when I have other projects and recommend others to your channel
This is exactly what I needed. My unlock button on the outside wasn't working anymore. The instructions to remove and replace the outside handle are perfect! An easy task. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this! Helped me fix this issue. IMPORTANT INFO: When you're placing the window glass back into place, make sure the glass sits back into the rubber clamp before tightening the screws back down. Otherwise, you'll find yourself in my situation where the window can go down, but falls off into the door panel when rolled all the way up. Had to take everything apart again, but luckily the glass did not break. Honestly, this was the hardest part. Replacing the actual actuator and taking everything apart was simple. Just spend extra careful time to make sure you have the window correctly back in place!!!
Dude! Your video helped me so much today. Mine was the rear left door, but most of the steps were absolutely the same. Thanks for your great step-by-step and may your daughter find ALL the diamonds!

Works for a 2018 Hyundai Genesis G80, slightly few extra bolts on inside door panel to remove (the silver metal ones (2) must come off for the panel to come off with lock assembly) but very similar! Part number for Genesis G80 is 81310B1000

First video I see of you and your very detailed explanation, you already have my like. I have the problem that the safety of that same door does not open when deactivating the alarm, will it be the same part that I have to replace?

Good video! Still trying to find a tutorial for how to open a car door that won't open from inside OR outside. Trying to find a solution that doesn't require cutting out the panel to access the cables😭
I has a 07 Altima in 2010 and the door wouldn't open from inside or out. Never fixed it. How would you have fixed that? You cant open door trim or anything
Something has to give and it's usually the door panel. In cases like that unfortunately you might have to destroy the door panel to get into the door and do what's necessary
Great video. My door works (opens and locks) with the key Fob on a 2015 Sonata limited. The issue I am having is the exterior door handle button does not work nor does the courtesy light lights up when key fob is close to open/lock door using button (intermittent issue works 1 out of 20 tries). My passenger side door works and recognizes the key fob, lights up and allows to open/lock the door. Is my issue the exterior handle or actuator?

Great video. I think I have the same issue but worse. I have a 2013 Santa Fe. I cannot get the door open at all. Neither the inside or outside handles work. Do you have recommendations on how to get the door open to begin the process you lined out? Thanks.
That sucks. It was strange. The door worked fine the night before then the next day nothing worked. There’s got to be a way get it open without tearing up the panel. I’ll let you know if I figure something out. Thanks.
Lower the glass and pull the panel back from the center to get your hand in . See if the cable came loose from the handle. Even if you take it to the dealer, they may tell you they have to damage the inside panel to remove and get the door open

Awesome video but I have a side question. What resources do you use to find sensors on different engines you working on. I currently working on a 2009 Kia Sorento v6 and having hard time finding camshaft position sensor which this car has 2 sensors.
Well cam sensors are always going to be on the head of the engine so they're not too difficult to locate them. I usually try Google or UA-cam when I can't find something
Thanks for the video. I used the video to fix it on a Elantra. After doing everything, the door still doesn’t open from outside. Before I would bang on the door few times and it would open but now it doesn’t open at all. Any suggestions?
@The mech a nic yep. It doesn't open the 1st time when the car is unlocked. I open it from the inside and after that I can open it from outside as long as I don't lock the car.
I have the same or similar problem as gtr-smokes: 2017 Hyundai Elantra... key fob and handle button will lock and unlock the car...but the outside drivers handle will not open the door. Once I open it from the inside, then I can open it from the outside over and over again...until I lock it. Then the whole process repeats -> if unlocked electronically door opens from the inside, but not from the outside (until you open it from the inside first). Could this be related to something mechanically broken in the actuator? I'd like your opinion please before I go ripping things apart and possibly buying unnecessary parts.
Great vid! So my door actuator seem to work (doors lock and unlock) but I just can't open the door from the outside, I can from the inside, is this still a latch problem?
@@themechanic6117 ya turns out it was the actuator. Your vid was really helpful although I went with an aftermarket one, it still worked but the main issue is the holes where the clips slide in seems slightly smaller so the fit is very tight and tough to remove. Most stuff you can figure out but sometimes there are ways to detach the actuator from the plastic molding that you have to know how or risk damaging or breaking the piece, for example at 6:20 where you detach the cable for the outside door handle with your fingers, isn't as simple on the older version where you need to slot in a door trim remover tool to pop it out.
Hyundai is tedious when it comes to certain replacements. My wife has a 2006 Sonata that she has owned since new and I have underestimated several times the work need to replace some parts. Now I just pay someone to do the work on her car unless it's something less tedious and simple I can do lol

If I open the drivers door with the inside latch and get out the door will keep reopening with the outdoor handle until I lock it with the fob or key. Then it won't reopen until I open it again inside. Is it still the door latch that is the problem?
My mom's car does the exact same thing. Only the back driver side door will unlock with the fob. Three of the 4 doors will open from the inside once she's gotten in. I believe this is a defect and there should be a recall to replace the locks and latches.
@@themechanic6117 I managed to get to the cable without breaking anything! Took the plastic surround off the handle and fit my screwdriver in and removed the handle's retaining screw.

It worked for me! But now when I Lock and then unlock using the key. The door does not open from outside. Once opened from the inside, then the outside latch starts working again i.e. I can open door from outside using the handle. Any solution for that?
Mybad let me say that again. So to unlock and lock the car that part works. But when it comes to opening the door that part only works from the inside. When I try to open the door on the outside it doesn't work
It could be the handle it could be the cable that connects to the handle or the actuator like in this video. Only way to find out is to take it apart and see what's wrong. For this car I had to take it all apart about a week before we ordered the part
Hang on, why go the original part? The original parts are the ones failing prematurely. If only it could be replaced with a Toyota part, that'd fix it.
I opened door from inside and used a stick to flip the latch and it worked and opened by using the outside handle several times. But locking must change something inside to not allow the outside handle to open the door.
