As a Hardcore SSF POE2 player, playing all 6 classes for a new game to me was the smartest thing you ever did. I’ve done the same and I got to learn the intricacies of each class and incorporate both the skills of my favorite class as well as my favorite alternate weapon and alternate skills. Without a deep understanding of each class and their primary weapon and skills, it would have taken me much longer to figure out quickly what class and skill combination I truly love.
I could see that a game with so many currencies and upgrade mats would benefit from a main/farming character for the others. Any time a game has this many tools and variables of power creep, best to have a "farmer" build early on for the rest.
I started new characters when I could not pass the act 1 boss. Eventually got them all near the Dreadnaught and then broke through to Act 3 with the Witch. I don't mind having spent that time because it helped me understand the game better and get a grasp of what skills and gems do. I can help the others and make the dreadnaught easier for them now.
