Can a blindfolded mechanic service my mountain bike?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 чер 2024
- We challenged Pat from Squatch Bikes to do a series of mountain bike repairs blindfolded. The only help we provided was clamping the bicycle into the repair stand and handing him, tools, and bottles of fluids. He actually found most of the tools himself.
Pat, having worked on thousands of bicycles in the same shop for years, would need to rely on his experience and muscle memory to locate tools, identify issues, and check over his work.
Each repair was a step up in difficulty. How many can get get right?

Build a bike while being blind
Actually easier than you think
@@rileyolson1672 riding a bike trail would be hard being blind
@@rileyolson1672 What if he doesn't know what bike it is - give him some full sus completely disassebled, he'll have to figure out how the linkage works, what bearings go where, perhaps some washers, … Also, but that's probably a step too far, could have to build the wheels blindfolded.
@@johnstoddart9026 I remember that kid. One the most impressive things I've ever seen
Ride a bike while being blind
I love how Seth got pat to put parts on his bike for free 😂
That’s what I was saying
Even IF Seth didn't compensate him, this is AMAZING advertising for Squatch and especially Pat
i was thinking the same thing maybe i should go see my mecanics and chalenge him the same way
The idea is kind of goofy but the comments by Pat were extremely valuable. Listening to his thought process makes the video worth a part 2 and maybe more.
I love how Pat looks more comfortable servicing a fork than walking around his shop
That's an excellent mechanic right there!
I have a suggestion for the next go round: install cushcore and seat the tire.😁
@@Michael-fi6ve did they do it while blindfolded?
What’s their channel?
I can barely install Cushcore normally
@Berm Peak Express i failed at it and took it to a mech who cursed me until i paid and tipped him. After that we went on a ride. It was great.
Oh, ok satan
I like it when you promote the local bikeshops and the people working there! It pays for people to know what the benefit is from going there as supposed to order something online.
Wouldn't mind you giving the mechanic the camera for a day, and just let him film whatever he thinks is good to show of and then let you spend double that time trying to edit it into a nice video.
Honestly I'd happily go to this shop
That would make for a really cool video. I hope Seth gives it a shot and credits you for the concept.
"I have never swung a hammer blindfolded before" absolute gold, props to Pat, awesome! :D the first couple swings totally made me LOL! Definitely want a "next time", please :)
Back in the 50s there was a blind small engine mechanic near where I live. In the summer he liked to work on his dock on the lake shore. He never kept regular hours and would be seen out working at all hours of the night and day. Also Kudos to Pat.
This was genuinely impressive! Congrats Pat!
Pat is one of the absolute best there is. He did quite a bit of work on my bike like year. I loved spending time at Squatch Bikes as well. Everyone is super nice and they have great beer!!
I’m legally blind, and do most of the mechanical work for my friends and family. Skill is skill you just learn ways to adapt.
This was very impressive! Pat is definitely a true master of his craft! Would love to see more of his work!
Do this again please. Love watching Pat go through the muscle memory of his job. Great video. Great job Pat.
I LOVE goofy stuff like this!
MORE PLEASE 🙃
This was fun! Not sure which was more entertaining….. the tech playing “Blind man’s Bluff” or Seth channeling his inner David Attenborough😂
And many argue on bike repair prices. A professional mechanic KNOWS what to do. As we can see, even blindfolded. Great job!
That's pretty impressive. Honestly better than some shops do without blindfolds on. Well done.
really impressive stuff!! this video really shows off years of machine experience super well
Would 100% love to see this again!!! As motorcycle mechanic this is a fun but honestly kinda an easy challenge. Once you do it for years it's second nature. This video should have more views!! Great job guys!!!
You should have a cushcore fitting challenge where everyone who comes on the channel is timed and put on a leader board. Professional mechanics have to do it blindfolded 😆
Definitely do more. Im a young bike mechanic (13) and find it quite cool to look up at these people and there skill
Incredibly entertaining MTB content. Pat is the man!
I love the work you do! I got into biking because of you and have built my own trails as well! Keep up the good work!
I definitely want to see more of this!
More of this please Seth. That was incredible.
That was impressive and fun to watch. I’d like to see something like this again!
The grips one is probably the one he doesn't do that often. People usually take their bikes to him for fork service brake bleed new chain etc.. Almost everone changes grips on their own.
But the grips often come off when you do other stuff like changing the handlebars, changing the brake or shift levers.
Awesome video, and Pat is a true professional. Thank you both.
This was awesome, probably one of my favorite videos of yours to date!
Awesome! Please do more of this!
What a great mechanic. Definitely do more!
He is truly a master of his work, well done
One of my favorite episodes for sure... This was so entertaining. Thank you !!
that was the most entertaining and satisfying video on MTB maintenance ive ever seen!
That was way more fun then I thought it would be. Def be back for more!
Dude that was the most impressive and funny stuff on the channel in some time, insane! More please!
Amazing Pat! I would love to this again! Great challenge.
This was a really good video, guy is def a skilled mechanic!
This was awesome. I'd love more of this!
He’s definitely a pro. Amazing work. Would love to see more. Great video

that was so fun!!! love to see another one!!!
Hell yeah we want more of these videos!!! That was amazing!!!!
Love watching you seth, keep up the good work!
I definitely want to see more of these.
Yes, I want to see more of these video's!
That was awesome. YES. Do another round of that. Very impressive Pat!
hella impressive. Love the way he talks himself through the checkpoints. That's when you know you're dealing with someone who's committed to quality rather than someone who just wants to get the job done as quickly as possible (to save money and maximise profit).
Yes Seth I would love to see another video like this!
Yes please more of this
An excellent entertaining way of showing repairs. Come back with more challenging stuff and perhaps a prize?
That’s next level wow! Just the fact his tools are so organized. Seth you’re the man! I always look forward to your videos.
Next episode I agree should be putting a entire bike together! For toppers a blind downhill run. Ha no pun intended.
this was great! Love this content.
Yes Do this again. Fun to watch.
That was a wicked video! Definitely more!
Hell yeah we want the next one! Also the idea of building a bike fron ground up blindfolded would be interesting, although really hard
Awesome video! I definitely want to see part 2 🙌
Loved the video! Stuff like this is always welcome
Awesome - more of that yes please - that was fun
Pat is amazing. Good job pat. Wish you lived near me. I could learn so much. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Definitely fun and entertaining! Let’s see more of those
Flippen amazing Pat.... kudos to you ... top notch exhibition !!!!!!
This was a great video! Fun to watch, would love to see more blindfolded challenges!
man Squash bikes are real they love having fun :D alot companies could learn from this.
lmao would love to see more blindfold repairs, oh my, the hammer the forks was so funny , as i had to watch a few more times ty
brilliant idea with brilliant mechanic...!!! enjoyed it every second....👍👍
This was amazing, I would love to see this again!
Fun video! Love it! Must’ve been a lot of work to put this together.
There is a bike mechanic at one of the local shops here in Provo Ut that is blind. It is amazing to watch him work. The guy trues wheels by feel!!!!
very impressive, now do a full bike build blindfolded! lol You can tell he knows his tools and workshop area!
I'm totally impressed!
this is really entertaining, I would like to see a complete series!
Great content! Pat is such a good sport!
this was an awesome video! would love to see another
this video was so good, its like a small documentary. he did such a great job, hope to see him back for more challenges 🥶maybe a one handed challenge or using those glasses that turn your vision upside down😂
That was a lot of fun, thanks Seth!
That was a great video, definitely wanna see more
Such a fun episode!
This was totally awesome. Going to have to show this to my 7 y/o who just did a full service on his new (used) hard tail. Tubeless conversion, new derailleur, new cassette, new chain, new shifter, new pedals, new bars, new grips, and hydraulic brakes (with bleed). Oh, and it’s internal cable routed.
That guy was sick. would love more of him
Pat is an awesome dude. Enjoyed talking with him when we visited Brevard.
Im upset that i didnt get a notification for this video. Awesome idea and incredibly executed. Good job Seth!
Pat built my Ripmo AF a few years ago and it rides like a dream. He’s awesome!
Great to see another vid keep it up :D
this guy is good, would love to trust any mechanic like this.
Yeah absolutely ready for next time
Absolutely love this! Incredible, I would love to see him strip and re-lace a wheel.
yes we want a next one
great video would love to see more just like this
great episode!
Pat is the guy! Fork service blindfold! Pat's got ninja skills.
Awesome! Loved it! Would love to see a competition between two mechs with a real price on the line or even loser has to do a punishment.
I think you need to show the whole entire video cause that’s impressive and a good bike mechanic.
This is amazing. Do it again but it's a competition between 2 mechanics
I've been putting off a lower leg service for a while but this has just given me the power!! 😂
Honestly once the fork is off the bike you're halfway there. It's really just a clean and reoil job after that. As long as you follow the instruction manual for torque values and oil weights you got it.
Amazing skillz! Such a good mechanic!🎉
Again again it was such a great video!😂 u should do a part 2!
Great episode
hell of a mechanic..nailed it.
