That vinyl runway look was my top look for the season. Somewhat unrelated, but the way you said it felt like Chanel was playing a character is how I felt about Majesty on Dragula S6. That was also a fun season. I'll be sure to check out your video on that season.
I think why La Voix didn’t win is because people have been seeing that they’ve been crowning queens based off their US counterpart. 1: First winner you get a pass 2: Young queen who is actually really good at the competition and beats the runner up who is loved more 3: Fashion Queen 4: Alt Queen 5: Ginger haired comedy Queen They knew they couldn’t keep it up and they love Kyran, but what I missed opportunity to crown a legend and an icon… I don’t care if they’re crowning people this way La Voix is will always be the Bianca of this season. The moment she was on I knew she was going to get the three wins in a row. She’s your fun gay uncle you just love her so much.
loveddd this vid, especially ur take on the finale results and the toxic positivity surrounding winners! it especially feels so prevalent in 2024, where i genuinely have not felt narratively satisfied by a single winner pick, from nymphia to kyran to alyssa to angeria to tia -- despite loving the drag & personalities of each and every one of those queens! would honestly be super interested in a whole video about the odd winner picks of 2024, and the reasons production may be choosing controversial winners more and more often.
I think that the difference from la voix vs kyran and nymphia vs sapphira, is that throughtout season 16 nymphia at some points was snubbed from getting positive critiques or winning the episode and i think in the finale lipsync Sapphiras proformance just didnt land where nymphia’s did, on the other hand Kyran consistently got praised for literally eveything during the season even if sometimes it was a but much and she flopped in the finale comapred to la voix
8:37 except for that weird make 3 seperate looks and present them all within a day challenge (for lack of a better way to word it) on UK 3, there hasn't really ever technically been a true ball challenge on a regular UK season
What solidified Kyran as the winner to me was in Episode 8, the makeover challenge 35:20 ; she put a bin over herself and her partner and called it a day. How that wasn't in the bottom and called out for it actually being trash is crazy - yeah it's silly and crazy, and that's literally all it is. At least Rileasa and Charra's outfits fit a body shape. The moment Kyran wasn't even considered being in the bottom I was like, "yep. Production love Kyran and want her to win." I also found the challenges seemed quite geared towards La Voix. No dance challenge, the chat show, a sewing challenge but no design challenge (and La Voix said she hates making things herself), getting the Shirley Bassey role in the rusical (that was clearly written for her in mind, having said she's known for doing a Shirley Bassey prior to the show!)... Speaking of the rusical, the roles were clearly unevenly written. How can anyone expect Geri Halliwell to compare to Shirley Bassey? Why on earth was Kylie Minogue in it - it should've been a celebration of British pop divas: Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, Jessie J, Lulu etc...
I've tried unsuccessfully to get my mom to watch drag race with me throughout the recent years...and after this season I was like, I NEED to try again. Now she's totally hooked and I'm having so much fun rewatching this season with her. UK6 is just THAT girl (I may have cheated and shown her the makeover episode first...but hey it WORKED)
I'm kinda shocked how you didn't even mention Kyran's makeover. Not only she did terrible (with one of the easiest partners), the way they clearly twisted the placings just to avoid putting her on the low is ridiculous. It was SO clear that Marmalade and Lill were the strongest, while La Voix had a good night with a hard partner and. It was so obvious Kyran was low (or even bottom tbh). But they couldn't. They had to keep her track record incredible. Same thing in the roast. Kyran should've been low two episodes in a row.
I feel like something people are forgetting is: the uk tries to crown different winners from season to season, Kyran was a young confident kween who did good in the season and we hadn't actually seen that since Krystal, and again, Kitty possibly would've won season 2 based on Ru's love for her, if she wasn't so similar to Lawrence, which yes, Bimini could've won and fill the young kween space, but Lawrence gave a lot more personality and emotion on the show, which was something that people complained Vivenne didn't show. So we have: (I'm simplificating a lot but go along with me) Vivenne (Professional, a little bit too serious) Lawrence (Emotional, rough around the edges) Krystal (Confident, young, fashionable) Danny (Alternative, sensitive, confident) Ginger ("Old Lady" type of drag) If Le Voix would have won then she would have been too similar to Ginger. Also, the interviews with Ru at the top 4, you could see her genuinely enamoured with Kyran, and I feel that was when she won the crown.
I think the reason La Voix didn't win is because her drag isnt particularly uniquie - not in a negative way, but if you saw a picture of kost of her runways they'd look like they could belong to The Vivienne or Ginger Johnson or Ella Vaday. On the other hand, Kyran has a very unique perspective and brand, and every one of her performances was infused with her personality in a way nobody else could copy
what i don't understand is why tf everyone is mispronouncing charra tea's name. it's charity, just pronounce it like charity, it's not charred or charlotte cmon y'all
I adore LaVoix and I’d be happy with any of the top 4 winning. But to be fair I disagree with the discourse of “she’s young she’ll do even better on all stars” because… well she did fantastic on the season as is. Both did equally well so the only “fair” outcome would be a double crowning. Since they didn’t do that, either winning is equally as fair
@@dezles6056 I was finding myself laughing at Marmalade's a lot more than La Voix's to be honest, La Voix had good material but I don't think she let the jokes breathe as much as she should have which made it less effective (just a personal opinion)
I completly agree with your comment about La Voix and Sapphira.. it makes a bit sad to be honest that they were so perfect on their seasons and did not get the crown 😢
Lill knows how to sell a lip sync with her face as well as her performance and look she just radiates absolute charisma it’s impossible to take your eyes off her ❤
My only critique of the UK seasons is that they always tend to give queens multiple wins in a row and it tends to make the season only slightly less entertaining and more so predictable.

42:58 "To me, this felt like if Anetra won Season 15"... I adore Anetra & Kyran, but this here absolutely bulls-eyed my feelings on this. Early in the season, I thought Kyran was winning, LaVoix also did great but *devoured* the latter half of that season, along with the final lipsync. It seemed like the edit of the season was to recognize & crown a veteran of drag for decades, so I will admit the result was a bit gaggy lol. Of course, LaVoix is gonna be just fine. She got a showcase to show her many talents to a wider audience and she's gonna be booked & blessed for all time. ❤
The only riggory this season was not making Actavia and Kiki Snatch lipsync to freaking TENSION BY KYLIE MINOGUE! HELLO NINE ONE ONE I WANT TO REPORT A ROBBERY THE SUSPECT IS RUPAUL CHARLES!!!!!
An all time great season of Drag Race. The cast deserves all the flowers and praise they have been getting and then some. I wasn't disappointed that La Voix didn't take the crown, but I was shocked. We get to the winner announcement, I'm cozy and comfy, expecting to see La Voix get crowned (even though I was team Kyran) and the rug was pulled out from under me as Kyran is announced as the winner.
The makeover episode indeed was excellent. Just one reflection: how come all cast members got a family member, and Kyran exceptionally got their partner..? Was there no available, or willing family member for Kyran to invite?
Honestly, I know they probably wouldn't have the resources for it, but the storyline of this season had me thinking it should've been a double win with that top 2

1: First winner you get a pass
2: Young queen who is actually really good at the competition and beats the runner up who is loved more
3: Fashion Queen
4: Alt Queen
5: Ginger haired comedy Queen
They knew they couldn’t keep it up and they love Kyran, but what I missed opportunity to crown a legend and an icon… I don’t care if they’re crowning people this way La Voix is will always be the Bianca of this season. The moment she was on I knew she was going to get the three wins in a row. She’s your fun gay uncle you just love her so much.
That’s actually crazy, I’ve not noticed that before! Kyran and La Voix give such Adore and Bianca energy as well
FULLY agree about the finale, such a great point of it feeling odd when those who do best in the finale aren't picked to be top 2 or win.
The way kyran done their runways reminded my of uticia and it annoyed the hell out of me that she couldn't just walk and had to act goofy constantly.
hi violet. I just saw violet girl
loveddd this vid, especially ur take on the finale results and the toxic positivity surrounding winners! it especially feels so prevalent in 2024, where i genuinely have not felt narratively satisfied by a single winner pick, from nymphia to kyran to alyssa to angeria to tia -- despite loving the drag & personalities of each and every one of those queens! would honestly be super interested in a whole video about the odd winner picks of 2024, and the reasons production may be choosing controversial winners more and more often.
I honestly liked Lill the most this season. I never care who they crown because if the person i like isn't, they get to come back for All Stars.
Yeah I've seen 44 seasons of drag race and this is in my top three, which I never thought I would say this far into all of the franchises' run.
I wouldn’t say Koran’s cockiness was an arc, she was unlikeable to the end lol
UK Season 6 was also the first UK season to have queens from all four constituent countries of the UK 😊
Lill carried the season
i think the number 6 is blessed to always have great seasons in drag race
Is there a season 6 BLESSING for Drag Race?
Yep, this basically shows that December has been a great month 😅 So happy to see another video from Derek again
UK s4>s5 by far and I will die on this hill
Yeah I had to stop watching s5 halfway through
The lip sync song choices were amazing, like we really could use some more iconic male songs on usa instead of so much ava max no shade to her lol
my personal uk ranking Best to worst imo:
UK1 (First Drag race season i ever watched along with season 12)
UK6
UK2
UK5
UK4
UK3
8:37 except for that weird make 3 seperate looks and present them all within a day challenge (for lack of a better way to word it) on UK 3, there hasn't really ever technically been a true ball challenge on a regular UK season
Ooh perfect. Just in time to watch during lunch!
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALL WEEK YAY
IDK to me the Sapphira/Nymphia situation is completely different
La Voix was out of this world! She's my winner. ❤
Lill was such an unexpected lip sync assassin. No choice but to stan
I hate how much I laughed at “beg the network for another episode” cuz you and I know they said WE ALREADY GAVE YOU THE EXTRA EPISODE 😂😂😂😂😂😂
kyran immediately disqualified on the spot for that finale look was my french vanilla fantasy
It would be iconic but I don’t think they could justify it after letting Ella do the final lip sync after wearing… that
Kyran winning felt like finally getting justice for her drag mom, Charity Kase, for me.
I love how Ru refused to call Rilesa by her full name 😂
Dude I think this might be one of your best videos 😂😂❤🎉
Thinking UK6 is better than UK2 is... a choice
Especially since UK6 got the finale so wrong. It was so clearly La Voix's season and then they crowned Kyran. Ruined the whole season for me
Yeah uk 2 is still better for me, but this definitely comes second
@@bigwelp3870 but then again Uk2 got the finale wrong too lol
I've tried unsuccessfully to get my mom to watch drag race with me throughout the recent years...and after this season I was like, I NEED to try again. Now she's totally hooked and I'm having so much fun rewatching this season with her. UK6 is just THAT girl (I may have cheated and shown her the makeover episode first...but hey it WORKED)
You dropped this right when I’m about to paint for a show…bless you
I'm kinda shocked how you didn't even mention Kyran's makeover.
So we have: (I'm simplificating a lot but go along with me)
Vivenne (Professional, a little bit too serious)
Lawrence (Emotional, rough around the edges)
Krystal (Confident, young, fashionable)
Danny (Alternative, sensitive, confident)
Ginger ("Old Lady" type of drag)
If Le Voix would have won then she would have been too similar to Ginger.
On the other hand, Kyran has a very unique perspective and brand, and every one of her performances was infused with her personality in a way nobody else could copy
i gagged when you said actavia was the sixth top spot of episode 1 LOL to me she was an absolute third best after the top2
what i don't understand is why tf everyone is mispronouncing charra tea's name. it's charity, just pronounce it like charity, it's not charred or charlotte cmon y'all
I adore LaVoix and I’d be happy with any of the top 4 winning. But to be fair I disagree with the discourse of “she’s young she’ll do even better on all stars” because… well she did fantastic on the season as is. Both did equally well so the only “fair” outcome would be a double crowning. Since they didn’t do that, either winning is equally as fair
It’s so refreshing to see a fairly judged season
43:14 - if she shows up.
bahahahaha
The fact of the matter is that the last "professional" queen they've crowned and will ever crown was Chad Michaels
In my opinion Marmelade should have won the roast, because she was the one doing an actual ROAST 😅
It wasn’t funny tho. LA voix was literally like the best roast I’ve seen on drag race
@@dezles6056 I was finding myself laughing at Marmalade's a lot more than La Voix's to be honest, La Voix had good material but I don't think she let the jokes breathe as much as she should have which made it less effective (just a personal opinion)
I guess we're not getting 'the riggory of global all stars'. I understand, would be kinda impossible trying to figure it out how to fix that season.
I completly agree with your comment about La Voix and Sapphira.. it makes a bit sad to be honest that they were so perfect on their seasons and did not get the crown 😢
your reasoning for crowning La Voix and comparison to Seasons 16 and 15 actually opened my mind period
Lill knows how to sell a lip sync with her face as well as her performance and look she just radiates absolute charisma it’s impossible to take your eyes off her ❤
So when is we gettin global all stars
My guess is he just gave up as he would have to spend an hour for episode 💀
My only critique of the UK seasons is that they always tend to give queens multiple wins in a row and it tends to make the season only slightly less entertaining and more so predictable.
in what world la voix did better than kyran in the lip sync? 😭
am i the only one who loved chanel’s verse it was one of my favourites it’s so catchy
This and a bowl of spaghetti is exactly what I needed today. Thanks!
100% agree with everything you said. If u offered me a ticket to either la voux or kryan show it would be la voux ticket I would take. There would be Singing comedy good audience interaction.
The makeover episode was probably one of my favorite episodes of Dragrace ever!! ❤
Every episode I was hoping for a double shantay 😂
The Aneyra/Sasha comparison made it make so much sense to me
I’d love to see you do a video on which seasons you think RuPaul loves the most and which ones she hated
Amazing season! La Voix saved it, that roast was one for the books
Dragula riggory episode WHERE
I feel like the Boulets don’t even pretend to be fair a lot of the time. It’s their show they do what they want!
@ I 100% agree which is why I REALLY want to see Derek’s review of it. It’ll be a truly alternate universe haha
Honestly, I know they probably wouldn't have the resources for it, but the storyline of this season had me thinking it should've been a double win with that top 2
kyran won that lip sync but ok…
I'm so glad international viewers see the riggory us Brits see/feel.
