Lease can be 30, 60 & 99 years. Religious buildings are all 30 years. 99 years is a long time. If you buy the flat at 30 years old and live till 100, there's still a balance of 29 years which your descendants can sell for a tidy sum. If you want to buy a second hand flat, then you have to do your calculations. BTW my relative bought a 99 lease condo. The owner of the piece of land is a private individual and not government. At the end of the 99 years the land owner or his descendants will take back the land. Not only that the condo owners have to flatten the land when returning the land to him.
