  • This is a video tour of the uncommon Leslie Model 600 speaker cabinet, designed specifically for multi-channel organs (such as the Conn 651 theater organ) back in 1971. I couldn't find any clips on UA-cam about this model, so hopefully this will be a good reference for anyone interested in these! I think these are truly underrated.
You can find out more about the Leslie 600 and Conn 651 over at my web site:

Thank you for this video! There’s not enough quality footage of the space generators like this on UA-cam.

Very well done! Conn definitely nailed the theatre sound, and the 600 is a beautiful compliment!

Thank you so very much for making this video. Incredible sound. Your ears are so very very lucky. Probably less than ten people on the planet have that sound. Incredible!

    Finally, someone else will say
that the effects spin at different
speeds, and the horns spin up
    more quickly than the drum
    reflector does.
That is what the electronic boxes
cannot do. And, the sound of the
    motors and transmissions NEEDS
    to be there. (Transmissions, are
what is between the drivers and
    the driven.)

That space generator is a hoot to watch working!! I’m going to have to get a schematic to see how it ticks.

Nicely done! I had no idea those components moved that fast. Obviously you've done your homework. I wonder what a guitar would sound like through that rig.... hmm.

this is basically a "222" version of the 710 or 715. I've never seen one of these, but the "record player" version of the 122 was pretty common.

The 222 is a single channel Leslie with a standard rotor. The 600 has a Rotosonic drum and consists of 3 audio channel inputs (actually 4 amplifier/loudspeaker channels), with the inclusion of a space generator and a tremolo generator for the two stationary channels. The 222 is a horizontal 122.

I noticed the treble horn and bass drum both spin anti-clockwise, rather than on other Leslie models, where the horn and drum spin in opposite directions. I wonder why?

It has all the goodies of my taller X77 Leslie - same 4 channels. X77 just one rotating drum speed.
Space Gen- Tremelo Gen processing the sound input as selected. One way is 'Celeste' tab. 'Tremelo on Percussion' another way.

Could you do a video explaining how you connected the leslie connector kit to the Conn? I've got a 652, which has a place to plug in a 255 Cabinet, which can be hard to come by.

Conn has always been my favourite electronic organ and I do like the chorus effect which Conn provided to affect the tuning. However the 'Space generator' has me intrigued and to tell you the truth I couldn't hear any difference but maybe that's due to me playing the sound back on a TV set which I use as a computer monitor. I know what a multi-rank effect should sound like as I play pipe organ, Wurlitzer theatre pipe organs etc. so I know what to listen for. Was the Space Generator a phase shifting device or something of that type? I once connected a bucket brigade device to a Conn 650 which gave a very nice celeste effect on the non-tibia voices (pulse channel).

Can you do a Video on different ways to connect the organ Pipes to the Leslie’s . I’m trying to have the same configuration at my church but with a Hammond. Please and thank you

Dear Christian Willis! I'm making a video on my small channel where I'd like to use a few small snippets of your video to illustrate the Leslie effect. Can I do it?
