Jarrod Backman-Gallivan o man. i feel stupiiiiddddd
I feel ridiculously happier when babies smile at me on the bus
If I smiled at you on the bus, you would feel the same thing.

Omg I thought I was a creep for doing this. I like to try to make the kids laugh and when their parents turn around I act like I wasn't involved.
@@bloodycinephile lol YES!
I once saw a newborn goat who was learning to jump around and naturally it faild most of the time but it was so happy and playful it didn't give up and it was so extremely adorable I started to cry. There were a bunch of kids and moms and my friend... and I totally freaked out infront of all of them and cried because the baby goat was so sweet.
I raise goats - I don't think it's weird at all. Goat kids are just head explodingly cute!
"Om... Not eating it. Just putting it in your mouth."
Ah, it makes sense. "Om" is putting it in your mouth, "Nom" is eating it. That's why the phrase is "Om nom nom nom nom"
I actually didn't know that, thanks.
Lol. Cute comment. I have to punch a wall now.
I put a chick in my mouth. Good thing it didn't poo.
@@renendarkfire this is remarkable.
The idea of our brains using opposite emotions to express and cope with overwhelming emotions is fascinating to me. There seem to be so many examples of it, and I think it would be interesting to study.
So this is how Japan gets us addicted to Anime.
They're so cute you wish that you could glomp them *_*
I just squeezed my speal plushie n "agumon"(its greymon but it feels like a agumon) plushie.

Yh the characters might look cute...but then they open their mouths!..sounds horrible. Adults trying too hard to sound cute & it sounds bloody annoying. ✌
Why do we have dark thoughts? Like, when we're walking down the sidewalk and think about what would happen if we would jump in front of an incoming bus? Or thinking about the fact that you could kill anyone, you are just too scared to do it? Why does this happen?
Those are called intrusive thoughts, and they're pretty common among the general population. You only really need to seek help if you suspect you might act on the impulse, or if you find yourself obsessing over it until it interferes with your daily life. Unfortunately, there's not a ton of research into why they happen. All we really know is that they can happen to anyone, and don't mean anything bad on their own.
I've heard somewhere that you think those things because it is the strongest action you can make in those situations. You might be a little stressed or scared (unconsciously) so your brain plots out the strongest action and disturbs you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Vsauce has done a very good explanation on this very subject. obviously not me, as I should've gone to bed 4 hours ago.
If being scared is the only thing stopping you from killing people then you're probably a psychopath.
Arecaceae791 Perhaps it is exactly to make you think "yeah, better not" to keep from doing something stupid unknowingly
Why do we find other animal babies more cute than a human baby?
human infants basically are still developing, but they take 2-3 years to be a little bit cuter ?!
while puppies will be ready in weeks or even days.
It is just very confusing from an evoluion perspective. The human species wouldnt have survived if we preferred taking care of other animals than our own offspring.
The impression that puppies are cuter than human babies, has it always been this way? Was this something that came over time with animal husbandry or the industrialisation? Or is this even a rather new impression?
Apart from the fact how it came to be : What purpose does this serve to the humans? Why does this trait still exist?
While other people might be disgusted, every parent finds their kids cute, not matter how it looked, and most people will play along even if they didn't agree. as for the other animals,
Vsauce have a video on that matter too "watch?v=Z0zConOPZ8Y"
While your hypothesis is plausible for being a possible advantage to the human species(genetic wise), it doesnt explain why we find OTHER animal babies more cute. More logically it should make it that they dont find ANY offspring no matter the species cute to ensure this mechanism (Its kind of a contradiciton if it doesnt)
The reason we find things cute is because their features (big wide eyes, little nose, round face) remind us of babies.
But for someone that does not find babies cute, it would mean that he finds puppies cute because their features remind them of babies which is a huge contradiction.
I think that's a relic of our apes like ancestors. They certainly find their haired babies the most "cute" and as we lost our body hair really quickly through evolution our brains have not adapt to love baby without body hair while baby cats for exemple have still them which make them more appealing to us. That's my theory. But it will be fixed in some hundred years with evolution anyway.
This makes sense because I love petting and scratching my bird, but I also pretend to eat her. She doesn't mind at all, she's a cuddly little thing.
I am in a Vet Science program and my instructor doesn't allow us to say "awe" 😂🤷♀️
What a monster.
How do your survive
Listen to your instructor, he knows!
thats torture
As soon as the professor said that I would've replied with " I'm in awe of your boldness in the creation of that rule"
As a nanny for two infants, yeah. I cry sometimes because of the cute.

Princess Gaming Care to use words? I don't speak internet.
I cry when I watch kittens
Is it just me or why do i find babies creepy? Maybe due to the fact that they don’t have hair.
Every second child is an unwanted pregnancy. I only have negative thoughts and feelings when I see babies and toddlers.
the baby in 3:02 makes me want to run as fast i possibly can and as far away as possible...
*KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!!*
I recently figured out that by looking at cute things (especially when I hold my crested gecko) my pain almost completely goes away for a little while. I have fibromyalgia (a chronic pain condition) so I'm always in excruciating pain, so finding something that helps is great
Georgia Bence I wonder if that has something to do with dopamine? Maybe the gecko feels good being held, too
Georgia Bence my kitten does the same thing for my fibromyalgia. She also helps relieve my anxiety and depression too.
I thought you meant you have depression, I don't know if I should consider the reality better or worse ._.
well activating reward center generally stimulates neurotransmitters that relieve pain so make sense
All I know is faux biting the baby makes him laugh like crazy and it makes me happy too.
Trust exercise and adrenaline = Oxytocin and dopamine rush. It's a pretty normal thing for many animals in some form or another.
i'm glad this video was made because every time i try to explain this feeling to people they act like i'm crazy or something.
I want to squeeze a Chipmunk,Turtle and Penguin.

The cutest thing in the universe to me is a fat healthy hamster. I even have a cute song for it.

That's why Baby Yoda is so irresistible 💚
I always have "cuteness aggression" whenever I mess with/play with my cats (...or other people's cats).
My first reaction is to bite down hard and grit my teeth, all while talking the typical "baby talk" to them (my second reaction)
Unfortunately, I grit my teeth SO hard, my dentist noticed and, well, I couldn't just tell him "I grit my teeth and go into a minor epileptic fit while baby talking to my cats", so I lied and said I grit my teeth while I'm asleep....so now I use one of those soft mouth guards.
So NOW, I put it in my mouth BEFORE I start playing with my cats (or any cats).
I have to hide my reaction from people out in public, whenever I'm in a pet store: So I'll just QUIETLY grit my teeth and talk "baby" to the cat(s) in the cage.
And don't even get me started on how I react with kittens and puppies...
Omg I also grit my teeth when I see my own dogs because of how cute they are!! Its just like cuteness overload and I can't control it sometimes because of how cute they are!
You should have told your dentist the truth and have seen their reaction 😂 would have been funny
OMG! Same!
I call it softing! I like to squeeze and soft my GSD and cat. They are so damn cute and their fur is so soft!!
Wow, thanks for this. When I was quite young, I had a reaction like this that was so strong it disturbed me. It's nice to know I'm not some sort of psychopath.
I hear you.. When I had my son my anxiety was so high because he was so darn cute and I thought about throwing him like a football.. I thought I was crazy for thinking this lol
human babies dont make me feel this way but animals do, what is up with that?!
Yeah same. Babies are gross. Animals are cute.
I don’t want to squeeze it but my brain squeezes up.
Kaylee Rahman hello!
*Babies are cute*, until they grow up...
*Puppies/Kittens are cute*, and they will always be.
Nope, I find only small baby kittens and puppies cute. The adult femines I find quite repulsive. But not as much as dogs which are disgusting smelly slobering animals and when the cuteness wears off, all they've really got going for hem is the ability to be an awsome friend.
Rem nah, dogs are loyal, cats dont have empathy.
Dylan, I hope you know that loyalty is NOT the same thing as empathy! Basically, dogs are dull sheep and cats are elegant assholes. I prefer cats. (Not that I like assholes, but if a cat comes to comfort you when you cry, you know it's real empathy, not just loyalty.)
Jimin will ALWAYS be adorable
@vin 950 Baby pigeons are especially ugly.

Ok so I've seen some comments wondering why people may not find babies cute considering that seems evolutionarily counterintuitive. So I'm a fourth year Biology major and have taken a number of course covering human behavioral ecology and evolution so my idea as to why this might be the case based on that knowledge (I am unaware of specific studies pertaining to this phenomenon so this is just an educated guess).
Maybe it's just we don't find babies OTHER THAN OUR OWN cute. I have NEVER heard of someone NOT finding THEIR baby cute. From a biological perspective it would actually make sense for us to not find other people's babies as cute. For example if there is a fire and we see a crying baby in a burning room, from a callus evolutionary standpoint, it would be "adaptive" to NOT find that baby "cute" and thus be more willing to save ourselves and thus have the possibility of having offspring OF OUR OWN. There is NO DIRECT fitness increase from saving a baby we are not related to. The only fitness we stand to gain is that by rescuing the baby we may gain a reward of some sort that may increase our fitness (ex: the parents give you money or people who've heard of your heroics are more likely to mate with you). Again this is obviously a quite cold scenario but at its core evolution is the result of which traits cause the greatest reproductive success, nothing more and nothing less.
Funny you bring up that example I just watched a SciShow video that talked about people and sacrificing themselves for their offspring, family member or being in the position to have to choose who to save and what evolution says we would do in a general stand point. Actually Hank hosted that video. I think you would find it informative.

That's what I was thinking too. Unless you have one of those sad rare cases where you don't connect with your child, generally every mother and father finds their kids to be the most adorable thing ever.
I also don't find babies cute usually, though sometimes things they do are cute, especially when they feel more like tiny adults with expressions or things they do.
We also tend to find things super cute if we can anthropomorphize them, like a dog sneezing, cat huffing after stretching, baby dancing. Anything that we can go "Hey, I do that too, but this thing that has big eyes, small nose and is totally helpless does too." Definitely an empathetic response.
I would like to add that it might be possible that cuteness is an indicator of health and youth. Usually something with clean eyes, small nose, shiny fluffy fur/skin is healthy as well. We tend to like things that are healthy looking. Another persons baby might not be, and with most animals it's pretty obvious when they are sick.
It does explain why I don't find babies cute despite being such a huge fan of adorable animals that I've managed to start the trend with every computer desktop at my work featuring bunnies... =3
Another possibility as to why a portion of people might not have the cute response is because they are more comfortable with the baby animals and that incites the response. If is happens more often then the brain will associate the response and make nerve pathways stronger, versus the baby which has little or no effect.
This seems to explain why I am disgusted with all human babies and not with baby animals. Yes even my own baby picture, I find honestly revolting to look at.
I only think animal babies are cute though...
The Brony Notion Ikr. Human babies don't even compare to other baby animals. Hmm

Ikr human babies just aren't cute to me but baby animals are
Ikr human babies just aren't cute to me but baby animals are

I love cute things and I see cute stuff everyday

Ohh look a recomended video
i sometimes choke back tears of joy thinking about the wonderful people in my life
When my cat gave birth to her kittens, I would get very upset and annoyed by looking at them, although they were obviously extremely cute. But they were also very helpless and fragile, which made me anxious and it was really weird to have all those feelings T_T thank you for this video, it explains everything now
I wanted to punch something when my crush flirted with me last night... Does that count?
Mykel Walters What do you have against your last night?
No
Mykel Walters With my... friend (I suppose?)
I believe it is "me" not "my"
Literally the current generation cannot tell the difference between "me" and "my".
I think I'm broken I can't get a reaction with human babies.
are you m or f?
Babies are really ugly, stupid and disgusting to me.... I dunno why, actually, i just hate them.
@@user-je7dk4mq1o Babies are cute, but they have no chance against puppies and kittens.
Yeah I feel the same way I don't know why
I just feel disgust when I see a baby. I don't have this with older children, just babies.
This is why I only venture outside at dawn and disguise my cuteness with glasses and a hat.
I stopped watching cute cat videos for this.
Mohammed I stopped squeezing my fluffy cat for this...
I think animal babies are cuter than human ones
Honestly I never saw babies to be that cute
But animals were always adorable
Most gang members think it’s OK to hurt baby animals but not OK to hurt human babies proof that human babies are cuter than baby animals, also, we’re happy and relieved to see our baby animals grow up and become less annoying, human babies on the other hand they can just stay a little their entire lives, and not only would we not mind that we would actually prefer that, that’s just how adorable they are, or maybe it’s just me who is happy and relieved to see baby animals grow up
IS there a name for whatever this emotional state is... when you find yourself contorted into squealing, having a good meltdown, and forget everything in the world but the cute that is attacking your brain... And you just want to pinch / squeeze / hug / loveup / and gobble up such cuteness? THERE MUST BE A NAME FOR THIS EMOTION.....
fantastic segue there, hank!
Fun Fact:
In Tagalog, the word for cute aggression is 'gigil'
In the Thai language, it's something like 'mun-keeow'
What happens if baby like traits such as big eyes, a small nose and a small chin are morphed onto an adults face? How does this influence attraction across sexes?
thats called having a baby face. lots of people have it.
I feel like that sort of crosses the boundary between being attracted to someone because they're cute, and then feeling like there's something amiss. Maybe not something as strong as saying feeling like a pedophile, but it probably would definitely cross into that boundary.
This probably also depends on which sex is the one looking like a baby; if the female has more of a baby face, more men probably wouldn't care - because our society values women to have softer features in general, which is a more baby-like feature. Conversely, most women seem to prefer men to have a more "matured" look - in terms of facial hair, and overall rugged features.
If I had to take a guess, i'd say we can notice Photoshop in adults better, with the uncanny valley and all, while babies sort of distract us with their weird baby looks? So in adults it might freak us out? Or not, we are pretty used to photoshoped models after all.
just look at most snapchat filters.
60 Second Success anime characters are based on the traditional Japanese interpretation of beauty, and a notable feature of anime characters is that they have huge eyes (and lighter skin but that's not pertinent to the topic at hand). perhaps large eyes are considered beautiful in Japanese culture because they remind them of babies, sparking a family oriented urge. either way, those two characteristics of beauty are somewhat unfortunate and furthermore ironic, as the Japanese aren't exactly known for having big eyes or light skin, and they have historically distained westerner.
Wait, people literally feel like eating cute things? I thought that was just an expression.
There is no thing as "just an expression" in fact, nothing just is. As the merovingian said, there is olny cause and effect.
Yes. I always want to eat my dogs every day. They are too cute to be alive.
I bite my cat nose gently everytime. But sometimes i feel the urge to bite my cats nose harder then i stop 😬
I literally get an urge to just tickle the crap out of them, my little sister now hates me😂
You don't have feelings?
Does wanting to hug something tightly count as wanting to squeeze it, I find birds really cute and I always want to hug them.
I was thinking that, too. I don't squeeze, but I hug. And I don't want to bite or put cute things in my mouth. I want to kiss them instead. (Animal babies. Not human babies.)
So why do I find other animals adorable, but babies disgust me..😷 like get it away
Because you've realized that human larvae are cancerous to the planet.
i find small animals adorable but my thoughts at seeing a human baby are usually that it's loud and probably smells like poo.
Oh my goodness Hank... you are a goober and I love it! thanks for the smile and info early in the AM.
I love softing my GSD and my cat. They are so cute and soft!!!
Nice video! Keep it up!
my guy thought he would get free likes for doing nothing just because of an verified channel 😂😂
I love parrot and god knows I want to squeeze the hell out of them
I had gerbil babies several times when I was younger, and I always said I wanted to keep them safe inside my mouth because of their cuteness. Always felt weird about it, but now I kind of get it
It kind of makes sense, because mothers will carry their babies in their mouth. Maybe they think their babies are cute. Lol!
shout out to squarespace ! thanks for funding amazing youtube channles.
Well, we already have "kitten huffing", so...
Humans - "Aww! It's so CUTE!!!! >.< Ok time to SQUEEZE THE LIFE OUT OF IT! 👹"

XD
When I feel "cuteness overload" I just

just
yell at the wind
Any reactions I had to babies died after my fourth little sibling became an annoying toddler. I’ve vowed never to have children. However the cute aggression feeling is violently noticeable when I see one of our three cats. She is mouse grey with lighter points, her für is very soft, she has large eyes and a sweet face. Her belly is also really fluffy. The only way to sate the feeling to squish her is to hold her and nuzzle either her face or her belly. Preferably the belly. Lucky for me, she actually enjoys belly rubs, unlike most cats XD.
In our language we have a word for this, it's "gigil".
I've actually bit my dog a few times. She's just too stinking cute!!
I have a burst of energy when I look at cute things
This channel answers all my unanswerable questions in life
it's also cute how you pronounce "kindchen" :3
JanaGD21 "Kindschn-Scheema" :D
haha indeed, I was only listening and didn't really get that Austrian scientist schema. I don't blame him, German is somewhat hard to pronounce as English native speaker, but be assured the other way around is also quite difficult ;)
Fenryr Grey I know that. German is a really difficult language and it's impressive how good he nailed it. But for me it sounds funny and I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just cute.
Filipino's have a word for that emotion, its called "Gigil".
Mikko Ranido i think you spelt that wrong
Ooooh, so that's what that word meant.
@@MrMoon-hy6pn it looks right

I can't be the only one who thought of that Key and Peele skit...
"Cute Aggression" is a good name for a band. Debut album: "Squeeze the Baby".
I love you hank!
I now understand why I must squeeze my puppies

Hank's teeth are so cute and adorable that I want to squeeze him
you're amazing guys
But I don't like babies at all, yet I looooooveeee baby animals. So how does that make sense?
stephan2796 you hate humans.

Same. I say it's just because humans are kinda boring, especially baby humans.
stephan2796 Because human babies are disgusting.
I guess I have no nurturing instincts. I'll hold a kitten before i hold a baby and smile.
the puppies made me cry they so cute
I'm watching this video with a small kitten crawling all over my laptop and I'm dying of cute.
I don't find human babies cute at all, but tiny animals get me. It's so hard to hold back the urge to squish them sometimes!
Same here. Someone should make a video explaining why we don’t feel much for our own species’ cubs.
True 👏
It seems to me that a very small amount of human evolution has occurred at this last stage where we are hairless, tailless, virtually earless, etc. When this fondness for cute fluffiness formed in mammals, our ancestors were still cute and fluffy with pointy ears, waggy tails, etc. Our perception of cuteness hasn't caught up with the fact that we have become the ugliest mammals except for vampire bats and star-nosed moles. So we don't find ourselves and our young that nice to look at.
You know, Correctrix? that could very well be the root cause. At least, it's the best hyphothesis I've heard about this weird preference for animals. Ugliness though, is subjective, and I don't find myself and the human species *that* ugly. But still, not particularly cute either. Especially babies, can't really get all the fuss about babies. They behave in funny ways but still aren't aesthetically that much to me...
Only the pretty ones are cute....for me, it's not until I smell the baby that I fall in LOVE., like when someone plops the baby in my lap, baby's hair smells nice....triggers a hug...then, well.....aaaw!
I want someone to research the connection between people who feel cute aggression more often/strongly, and the way they nurture as a parent, if they're better nurturers/parents, etc. etc.
Hank, ur so crazy😂😂😂😂good video!
I've never been so not annoyed by an ad as when Hank seques into one.
Yes, we all get it. You don't find babies cute.
ThatOneJay123 it's actually a good thing to bring up in a channel like this. Why do so many people find baby animals cute, but babies ugly? Biologically that shouldn't make sense.
Niko butts. That is quite true.
Well maybe it's just we don't find babies OTHER THAN OUR OWN cute. I have NEVER heard of someone NOT finding THEIR baby cute. Again this is obviously a quite cold scenario but at its core evolution is the result of which traits cause the greatest reproductive success, nothing more and nothing less.
Jane Doe. I can understand why you made that assumption about protecting other's babies not being an evolutionary advantage, but it actually *is* beneficial for many social animals. Many other animals other than humans do this.
Animals who protect others of their species, especially their young, will help the species survive and flourish. That's why some animals who live in big extended family groups will sometimes risk their lives for young that aren't even their own direct descendants. It helps keep their species alive, so it's favored by evolution. Some animals even adopt other's young.
Even if this were true, though, it still wouldn't make sense why so many humans find human babies ugly, but instead find animal babies cute. It doesn't make sense either way. If I go into that burning room to save those kittens, *and I will,* that certainly isn't helping my species or distant family survive.
ThatOneJay123 Babies are ugly
In our language, we have a word for the feeling and it's called "gigil"... :'D Any Filipinos around?
Ako XDD
Same reason I laugh when I'm nervous and cry tears of joyful bliss while listening to Slayer.
This is super interesting but I think I just died laughing at the way you said "Kinchenschema" ITS SO CUTE- ... I need to squeeze you
I find dogs very cute, even my 20kg adult buddy, but I never thought human babies are cute. Does anyone else experience the same? 😮
Yup, they're pretty creepy. I'm good once they're around talking age but babies themselves freak me out.
One of the weirdest. Hairless baby rodents are ugly as hell.
Kindchenschema xD
Hank trying to pronounce it was adorable :D
1:37 Nice thingie for boosting me up!
So basically: cute thing -> brain gets overwhelmed -> brain wants to fight it -> brain calms down
My cats head has been in my mouth
*yes*
I was surprised to know that "cute aggression" was a thing - my daughter often says my dog is so cute she wants to squish him, but I thought she was uniquely weird haha
There are a disturbing number of unhinged or misunderstanding comments here...
Ah so this is the origin of the Titans' urges
"not eating it, just putting it in your mouth" 😂😂
OMG I WANT TO PUT KITTENS IN MY MOUTH FOR FUUUUUUUUUUN XD
Got something fun for you to put in your mouth here. Small hint, it's no kitten.
Elmyra Duff and Hugo the abominable snowman had this issue in spades!
Anyone else have memories of their parents saying "I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George"? Even if that isn't your name?
Yeah, I kept thinking, who the hell is this George guy and where the hell is MY hug?!
His faces were so funny throughout the video 😂
The way you prunounced "Kindchenschema" makes it sound like a dog-breed :D the channel improved upon itself the past year or so, keep it up.
i have absolutely no urge to squeeze something like that... :I
I'm kinda afraid of babies. I have nothing against puppies and other small animals, but babies are a no no. Every time I see a baby's face or hear the sounds they make, I get all tense and shaky... The younger the kid is, the worse it gets :/ And I really can't stand the smell of the newborn's skin. it's simply disgusting
It's not like I hate my reactions, cause thanks to that I can be sure that I won't mess up my future. :P
...but I really want to know how and why did it form. :/
Head Dog have u had any past experiences with babies?
Yea, I kinda feel the same way. I don't really shake or anything, but F you if you want me to ever hold and or touch your baby... Although part of that might be not wanting to break another person's new little person. But also yea, I don find them cute in general, nor like the smell, nor so many other things. Like I absolutely can't tell babies apart unless they are completely different and even then it's only if they are like, next to each other. If you showed me one and then the other and asked me to pick which was which I'm terrible. It's like all their features just go right out of my head.... Also I can never say with any truth if a baby "has someone's whatever." And I don't enjoy the cute baby videos either.... I would protect someone's baby like I would most other living things but I'd much rather keep a good distance from them.
Puppies and all kinds of other animal babies I can find cute and playful and enjoy though....
Anxiety.
Not all things i want to squeeze are cute ;)

acting on cuteness aggression but without hurting the animal is one way to suppress the intrusive thoughts
"not eating it, just put it in your mouth," sorry but it is a golden quote
ugh hank is so hot.
Eh more like cute
What about people who see babies disgusting and overall never cute - but cute animals otherhand are so beautiful and adorable?
This nurturing instinct theory have never made sense in that way. As a human you're suppose to find other animal babies cute because your own spawn is cute.. But too often it's not the case.
Just because some people don't see babies as cute doesn't mean the majority doesn't as well. No theory is ever going to fit everyone. There are so many factors that come into play like personality and instinct and hormones, etc. It isn't a perfect theory but none are. And the human psych goes through evolution too. We don't need to all like babies, our species is at 7 billion - even if 6 billion don't want to have babies or even be near them the species is going to continue on just fine although social security probably wouldn't. lol Science wise not liking babies would be like a natural way of population control I guess. I don't get either why many like baby animals more either though and I personally do prefer baby animals to babies - although maybe this is a reflection of me liking animals more than people in general. Maybe they're like a substitute - something to care for instead of the usual baby. A lot of things we find cute in animals is stuff humans do too (sleep, "smile", play, cuddle, etc.) so we're definitely connecting to them because we relate to them. So oddly enough maybe those who like baby animals more think they do "baby" better than babies themselves.
I experience dimorphous expressions a lot; especially with music, if I hear a piece that makes me really happy I laugh and tear up. X'D
I like how you pronounced "Kindischenschima". It is of moments like that when I start thinking about how my german colored english might sound to natives :D
