  • Ben mentions the recent confirmation of bluetongue in a cow in the South East of England and the need to continue to monitor worm burdens (still more worms than fluke). He talks about the disease risks around stress and diet changes at housing for cattle. Ben touches on the importance of continually monitoring lambs, as persistent wormers such as moxidectin are not equally persistent for all worms. Ben encourages checking that your wormers are working through a faecal egg count reduction test after using them. He recommends using EID tags on lambs and monitoring their growth rates as an earlier indication of worm burdens. Ben spotted adult egg laying Flukes in a bull that had died of other causes, explaining the dangerous consequences of this, even on sheep health.
