A noise gated drum cuts off during its reverb, so it stops prematurely, and compressed means that the quiet parts of an instrument are made louder. With a drum featuring both of these, it's got a very 80s style to it, and sounds like a big noise hit that you'd have in old video games for example, but richer. You can hear them super clearly at 1:33.
I remember when Jasper was first introduced and absolutely loving this theme, and her as well. Still to this day, I don't like steven universe as much as i used to before, but i still can't deny the craft and amazing work that went into the score.

I mean, Jasper sweeps in, with a kidnapped Lapis, and with the Peridot that we saw back in the Kindergarten, and the Galaxy Warp, who says that the CG have been "breaking her things". Would it mean that she was the one that sent stuff like the Roaming Eye? Sounds like it. Then Jasper, this cocky, buff gem, proceeds to WRECK Garnet, kidnap Amethyst and Pearl, and HEADBUTT STEVEN. Their arrival had been foreshadowed since episode 44, and with each passing episode, the atmosphere got heavier. It was GLORIOUS.

To me, it was up there with 'Mirror Match' from Episode 26 when Lapis stole the ocean and they had to fight their way through the water versions of themselves, the music on that scene was IMMACULATE and by far one of the best compositions ever produced by aivi and surasshu. The first season of SU was truly something else, it was special and compared to the ones that followed it, it's top tier.

I always liked how even PERIDOT AND LAPIS stood back in fear as soon as Jasper whipped out the Destabilizer to poof Garnet. That in my perspective, Was enough to show how much of a Complete Psychopath Jasper was before she Corrupted herself.

I hear Lapis and Peridot's themes, but I don't hear Malachite.
Malachites theme is mostly Jasper and lapis's themes mixed together so I guess any time that lazuli's theme plays, it gives off malachite vibes

It's still pretty bad if she gets poofed by a Gem who isn't new. Without Garnet, many things could go wrong.
