You can't really just use "Because Japan" in this case, because even Ghost was like "-- The hell?!" when Captain Ghost and his gimmick were introduced during their episode.
It's funny, because both the ship and the Iguana suggest that they are tied to Darwin's Damashii (as iguanas were part of him formulating his Origin of Species)...except they were introduced far ahead of his Damashii.
I'm getting both this set and the "Figure-Rise Standard" Ghost model kit for Christmas 2023, so hopefully FRS Ghost will be in scale with the Iguana Ghostriker as well.
Given the season is all about Ghosts and spirits, I think the galleon part of the set is supposed to represent the most famous of Ghost Ships. The Flying Dutchman. Would make sense, though granted it's not stated what it's based on, but it may as well be. If not, I'm sure the Dutchman had a part in the influence of the design. Just thought I'd put it out there.
+Strike Revimus it is more likely to be based on a yokai (japans version of a harmful spirit) i watch some anime that is based around yokai and i remember seeing a flying ship with arms on it
That's also possible, they tend to come in all manner of shapes and sizes. Though given that the Eyecons are based on historical figures all over the world, be they real or fictional, I tend to think the Dutchman has to have had some influence. No idea where the bike is inspired from though... I don't know of many ghost horses or unicorns(It does look to me like a horse to some extent), save for the horse that the world famous Headless Horseman rides. Someone probably has some idea though. That or it's a Hell Hound. It's more horselike though to me. As for the Iguana... It is kind of draconic... but I'm stretching at this point. Must be some kind of legend that involves a ghostly iguana out there in the world...
Strike Revimus I see your point, but this show is stationed (don't know if that is the right word) in Japan so some of Japans culture would be referenced in it . Since the current show is about ghosts and things of the sort, I believe that there is some yokai stuff thrown in. I do agree on your thoughts about the giant iguana and the horse like motorcycle.
I think you're right about it being stationed. Japan is the home of Kamen Rider, but the team is not above looking around the world for inspiration. They did something similar for the villains of Kamen Rider X, combining historical figures, both real and fictional, with animals. Creating combinations such as Genghis Condor, Ant Capone, and one over the top villain, Hitler Starfish. I kid you not. And two years ago with Gaim, they took armor motifs from around the world, and combined them with fruit. Another unique series for that fact. So there is precedence for looking the world and history over for inspiration. But I don't doubt you about Yokai and Oni. We already have two clearly Japanese Eyecons, Musashi and Nobunaga. So I'm sure we'll see more Japanese stuff if we haven't already. Especially if hacking of the Ghost Driver has given any indication.
Strike Revimus That's a really good point but no matter where they take their inspiration from there will always be a reference to where the show is started or stationed (I don't know the right word but you know what I mean).
+Tank Kill No, rider has very really had and mecha. Usually the show is focused on the characters rather than the gimmick of the year. Rider don't typically have robots, they have cool bikes. Also, the concepts of Zords is a purely American conception. The sentai robots are referred to as simply mecha.

This thing is so weird yet so cool!!! Thanks for the review.
Also the sketches always crack me up.
Even the magic Iguana bike has a hoodie!
Thats adorable!
