Usk Castle, located in Monmouthshire, Wales, is a historically significant fortress with origins dating back to the Norman invasion of Wales. The initial construction of the castle began around 1120 under the direction of Richard de Clare, a prominent Norman lord.
The castle was strategically built on a hill overlooking the River Usk, which provided both a defensive advantage and control over a vital communication and transportation route in the region.
The castle's architecture evolved over the centuries, with significant expansions and modifications reflecting the changing needs and fortunes of its occupants. Key features include the original Norman motte-and-bailey design, later enhanced with stone fortifications, including a great hall, a gatehouse, and multiple towers.

It’s a beautiful place this 😊 the grounds were really lovely and I liked all the plants growing on and near the ruins. Plenty of benches too so you can enjoy the view 😊

Castles - big country homes are gorgeous and often in the nicest spots. I love how the shrubs in the garden almost appear Stonehenge style what a wonderful explore. So my ‘thing’. Loved the wall walk. Using this wet Sunday to do some catch up watching. June wasn’t my best month. Hoping for more happy moments in July. The video is a great start ❤. The research and info sharing is once again super top! Great filming and drone footage. Awesome video. 🎉👌🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝

Hi Alessa & Brett, what a beautiful setting. The round tower was a great strategic invention. Good for attack and defence. Elizabeth sounds like a very determined lady. What a wonderful Christmas feast - peacock, heron, beef, mutton and salmon! Wow! Very gruesome to hear that around 300 were executed and beheaded and that evidence of this was revealed in the amount of bones discovered. I'm impressed by the topiary in the gardens. and I loved the murals within the pergola. I'm not surprised this is a popular wedding destination. Thank you for showing us around this picturesque castle and telling us about its history. A very enjoyable and interesting vlog ❤❤

Sorry I missed the premiere yesterday. The garden area looks amazing. It looks like, it was once a huge castle. The drone footage over the area looks stunning.

Hi guys wow the grounds to this place and the walk up are amazingly beautiful! Love all the topiary and a great amount of pew with a view to park your bum and just take in the beauty of this place! Girl power to Elizabeth and wow that is some Christmas spread! As if they found all those bones 😮 as always stunning, beautifully narrated, loved the murials on the ceilings! I agree one of the most picturesque grounds and castle's...great hearing you give all this history Alessa and double WOWOW Brett this drone footage has been the best yet! Eating peacock hasn't been on any of my menu's as of late but I see they made some topiary's in remembrance interesting ! I would love to get married in that setting, wonder what the charge would be for a 50th anniversary...😂 we'll be celebrating in March, wouldn't that be an awesome venue!😍 again, sorry I missed the time change, I wasn't on my game this week! Haha, that's brilliant Steve, you live in a beautiful area! We did indeed, we paid a suggested donation of £4 (quite happily I might add) and had the pleasure of experiencing the castle! It's only open on certain days as they do quite a lot of weddings there. I think Sunday's they are always open to visitors! Well worth it in our opinion. Come back from 3pm today if you like and you can get a glimpse of the interior as I've seen your aerials over the site! :D
