      If I let you
      The good (girl) is gone
Acted like you loved me, whatever you said

Do it how much you want, we aren't close
      Tomorrow no more
      Tomorrow we won't have anything
Whatever you have now it ended
I wish you good luck sweetheart
I don't want (him) to come back
      To come back
Cause I care that you talked
      The promise that you gave
And the major of the words from which I'm not being tricked again baby

    Let me explain.
Indonesia has hundreds local languages/vernaculars. In this song it used javanese at the reff of the part. Whic is mean : "kowe ora iso mlayu" (you can't run away) , "saka kesalahan" (from your own mistake), ajining diri ono ing Lathi (the self-esteem are built by the tounge/words =Lathi ). So becarefull with the tounge/words.
And about the sadistic scene ,fire eating , or bulb glass eating , that was one of the traditional skill (similar to black magic things) in javanese / sundanese culture. Usualy used at traditional carnival to entertain common people/netizen.
I'm indonesian , and I speak javanese, and excited to see the whole other country's reaction around the world about this booming MV. Proud from indonesia ✌️😁

Lathi means "lips" or "tongue" in Javanese language (one of many languages in Indonesia), but can interpreted as "utterance" or "spoken words". The message of this song is be careful what you say. Bad words (lie, bullying etc.) and abusive can hurt someone's heart so deeply. This song talk about Toxic Relationship (lie, ego etc.). In this song, the girl's life changed by toxic relationship.

I'm Indonesian, personally I'm not a fan of EDM in general, but I appreciate Lathi so much for existing!! I have always love the Gamelan sound and other traditional musical instrument sounds and styles, there is a spiritual aspect connected to them and thus makes us feel them in a deeper way than more modern sounds. I always feel connected to my roots when in the presence of gamelan music, be it Javanese or Balinese!!
I am culturally raised Balinese, so I was never taught to be afraid of the spiritual or things that could not be seen. I have always been taught to be aware of it and to respect it. Cultural music holds a lot of power in us Indonesians, no matter what tribe or culture we were raised in. We have a lot of history and so rich in culture, food, and language; and thus we should be proud.

Jawa = Javanese is not Japan, Javanese is 1of the 1.001 regional languages that we have in Indonesia because we have 714 tribes.
you can see the Jawa language in the Google translate or in the UA-cam subtitles.
You've heard of java coffee, Java script or OS Java maybe. it started from Jawa or Java.
    Nice reaction...!

    Quick context
    Official language : Bahasa Indonesia
Javanese, Sundanese, Madurese. Those are traditional native language.
Basically, most of Indonesian are polyglots we speak 3 language. Bahasa, English, and our native language.
Oh, you describe "lathi" correctly, it means words or "tongue".
Kowe ra iso mlayu saka kesalahan, ajining diri ana ing lathi. It means, you cant run away from your mistakes (behaviour), self image/pride (often) came from your words.

So pleased that you fearture this MV. I will rant a little please endure,
    1. Weird Genius is mainly gaming channel that often produce good song.
    2. The drop part represents the struggle of female to escape toxic relationships. It's changing yourself, but also enduring, strong, fierce, and elegant. If I explain one by one element it will be too long.
    3. The fire eating and glass eating one is a branch from a martial art of Silat called Debus. It is essentially a form of martial art to enhance your body durability via qi or chakra(please correct me if I am wrong, people)
    4. Yes Indonesia is famous for it's culinary wonder. You can find a lot delicious dishes. Sweet, savory, sour, salty, spicy or mix. From fruits, fishes, chickens, beefs, vegetables, or some wired food. Not to mention cheap for international standard.

the meaning of javanese languages of a part from that song is, " someone's glory lies in his words". That's one of Javanese Philosophy.

  • @pisaukaratan
    @pisaukaratan 4 роки тому +7

Literally, "Lathi" in old Javanese means tounge, but in the context of the lyrics it really means someone's "speech". Basically one's integrity or self-worth is reflected through someone's speech; either it's truthful and helps your loved ones grow, or full of lies and let him/her down. There's an Indonesian proverb with a similar message: "one's tongue can be sharper than knife."
Java is the main island of Indonesia, and Javanese is one of 300 ethnic groups in Indonesia. Their culture is a concoction of indigenous, Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist influences. The Javanese language is distinct from the national Indonesian language (called "Bahasa Indonesia"), but has a rich literature history and influence to the national language.
In conclusion, let's celebrate the beauty of the internet and UA-cam in particular; we all get to learn about each other through the coolest way possible!
    Peace from Indonesia

So I kind to explain some stuff from that video :
    1. Lathi is from Javanese language some Indonesian traditional language it means tongue or words .In the reff we can hear the lyric "Kowe ra iso mlayu saka kesalahan, ajining diri ana ing lathi" it means "You can't run from mistakes, a person selfesteem comes form his words". The sentence is a Javanese proverb.
    2. There so many kind of Javanese culture on that video . You can see a man riding horse that called "Kuda Lumping",
a man who eating some glass and blowing fire that called " "Debus", a woman who dance that called "Gambyong Dance"
and some kind like a doll there is called "Wayang"
    3. Javanese is just one from many culture and tribe in Indonesia.
Btw, thank you for your reaction indirectly you show up the culture of Indonesian to the world .
    Love & Peace from Indonesia✌🏻

Indonesia is not english speaking country but english is spoken as second language mainly in Jakarta as the capital city, also some other cities like Bali and Yogyakarta since both cities are tourism cities
However English is quiet widely spoken by Indonesians in general. Mostly we speak 3 languages, which are Bahasa Indonesia and Regional lamguages, such as Javanese, Sundanese, Batak (depends on the region) as our mother tongue, then English as our second language, esp in business and social media activities
Anyway... Thanks for reacting to the video.. Im so grateful!!

Each island occupied by people of different etnic, speaking different language, playing different musical instruments, practicing different traditions. Imagine visiting a country with its people speaking hundreds if not a thousand of different language. For those seeking something new to implement into their crafts, Indonesia is the place to be.

I think it's about toxic relationship. These extreme performances (they're actually parts of indonesian traditional attraction) with fire, glasses, and the unhinge dances are metaphor to the suffering the guy puts her in. That's why when he showed up the first time he held her in a choking position. You could see he mouthed 'i love u' before the chains appeared.

Indonesian people are very famous for their mysticism, if you realize in the video there are people who ride horses (kind of dolls) in Indonesia it is called "kuda lumping" it is a person who is possessed while riding the horse, and many Indonesian people having special abilities or usually known "black magic" they can eat glass, break thick woods and more. Indonesia is a country that has a lot of culture and languages too.

OMG I watched all your EXO reactions, nd finally you react to Indonesia song. That's so special coz I'm Indonesian and my ethnicity is Javanese. Tongue (lathi) in this song refers to "words or the way you speak". Wish I can explain more but my English suck.

Indonesia has almost 1000 indigenous languages and dialects spread all over 17000 islands with Bali Island as the most famous Internationally.
Javanese is the biggest tribe in Indonesia meanwhile Jakarta now the capital city of indonesia is also located in Java Island. When you look for Javanese disease in Jakarta, you can check Ndjaweni at Instagram.
The title in javanese "Lathi" meaning the tongue, the way we speak to others...
Kowe ra iso mlayu saka kesalahan = You cannot run away from the mistake (you made)
Aji ning diri ono ing LATHI =
Our dignity reflected in our words spoken to others...

    Lathi in English means tongue.
There are poets in the song that use Javanese and people who eat fire and broken glass are real, not edited or engineered.

Based on Wikipedia, More than 700 living languages are spoken in Indonesia. These indicate that Indonesia has about 10% of the world’s languages, the second most linguistically diverse nation in the world after Papua New Guinea.
As for me, I speak Javanese, sundanese, Indonesia n understand English.
