It's impossible to count the number of times I've driven along this road in the last 20+ years, and I never saw this place... And I thought I was observant...!
Top marks, Kevin...
Next time you'll be driving a bit slower i think !
Hi KEV Great video Those Jeeps reminded me of when I first visited Pattaya in the late 70s early 80s there were dozens and dozens of ex nam Jeeps as rental cars , all painted in bright yellows blues and pinks etc. mostly converted to 2wd with Mazda diesel engines, mongrels to drive, but the looked great and really suited Pattaya in the early days..Keep up the good work, hope to catch up on a meet night soon .
Did the phonebox have the original stale piss smell as well? 😂😂😂😂
That hovercraft looked cool
Looked like someone had laid a cable in there as well mate ! 😜😜😜👍👍👍
Kev-In-Thailand lol I'm not sure I want to know who has been laying cables😂😂😂
EJECTOR SEAT FOR A HELICOPTER????? That one will haunt you forever Kev. lol. CLASSIC!
I once laughed at a bloke for suggesting that helicopters could be refueled mid air. We looked it up and apparently they can but very carefully.
American invention
Hi Kev, There is another ( smaller ) salvage yard with U.S. Military trucks on Highway 1 North of Bangkok. I used to pass it often on the way to Navanakorn Industrial Estate. It is North of the end of the Tollway, and South of the Industrial estate. On the Right as you head North. Also on the back roads in Chon Buri there are several places. One has several DC-3 aircraft left over from "Air America" the CIA airline. None if these on the scale of what you found. On Google Earth you can see some carcasses of DC-3's still sitting at U-Tapao Air Base in Rayong. I used to sit on the Beach there and watch the U-2's return from missions as well as the B-52's come over. ( This was in the Early 70's ). Back then I Drove an old Military Dodge 3/4 ton Power Wagon between Satahip and Samaesarn. We had a Communications site at the Port in Satahip, and was stationed at Samaesarn. We also had a Com's station on Thelsaban 99 Alley on what we called hill 292. Thai Military still has Comm's there visible on Google Earth. Bangkok had mostly buildings under 5 stories back then, and lots of jungle still left in the area. Spent nearly 19 years in and out of country in the 90's to 2000's traveling in and out for work. Now planning to sell up and move there for retirement. Who knows, may cross paths when I get there.
What a great reply. Would love to share some beers one night in Pattaya and tour a scrap yard with you.
Now my friend, that is a plan...….Should be moving in about a year. Can't wait.
Hi Kev, Great vlog. My uncle served in Vietnam and I will definitely go visit the grave yard when I'm in Thailand. I also plan on visiting Vietnam to do a vlog to honor my uncle Joe. Do you know the story about the secret war where Thailand took part during the Vietnam war? All the best my friend.
Hi Kev 😀Wish you hadn't told me about this place 😂I love places like this and I might just have to go for a visit. My family were in the Army Surplus business for decades and I've never lost my love of all things Olive Green 😂
Thank Kev!
You got a truck to test out on a country spin now Chris, This place is massive to look around, Thanks for watching mate !
Get back up here soon Kev. You're missing all the action!
I can't believe you asked him if it was a ejector seat for a plane or a helicopter😂
I got more stupid questions coming in future vlogs i'm sure ! 😜😜😜
turn it into a sex swing- strap the girl in and off u go if she gives u any greif ,press the ejector button
What an awesome place, thanks for sharing 😀
Thanks for watching Farang Travels, I love finding these places especially the Vietnam War places !
Great video Kev ! And congratulations on getting 300 vlogs up!
Korat was a huge USAF Base during the Vietnam War.
One Country's war is another Country's store... Unbelievable, simply un-frik'n - believable and WOW !!!! Thank you, kind Sir!
Drove those jeeps when I was in Thialand, a long time ago. Would fly into Udon from Da Nang, then fly into Cambodia.
Thank you Kevin. This is a place I could look at for hours.
Kev , thank you very much
For this video I have a jeep,
Very interested in army jeeps
When I get there, love building

For me 👍
Thank you, Pleased if it helped you in any way sir !
Did you get a price on the bike and sidecar, would love that
Those old British red telephone boxes seem to get everywhere. Certainly looked an interesting place to have a look round.
Awsome place. Thanks for finding it. I have to go there one day.
Fantastic video it’s amazing how much is left behind thanks heaps
As I understand it, almost everything is still available to rebuild an old jeep (willys) In the states. There's lots of businesses making pretty much everything for them but bits can be expensive. So it's rare to be completely stuck on a rebuild. Equally most of the jeeps there could be fully restored, but import duty on the required parts could be a bit steep. It sounds like an interesting project in a place like TH but original jeeps (like Land Rovers) really are built for off road and are generally bloody uncomfortable in usual usage. Not a vehicle you'd want as your only form of transport.
I think a willys would be kept in the garage and only brought out on occasions as they would be murder on the back using it full time !
Yes. Anyone that's driven a SWB Landy knows how uncomfortable they can be. But lots of people haven't and think it can't be that bad. In a hot climate they can be an attractive idea if you don't appreciate that.
i had a landy once andrew-a series one
wern't the willys side-valve?

The Yanks buried a lot of jeeps and equipment around the mountains where I live Kev. But certainly a very interesting place to visit and thanks for sharing mate.

Kev-In-Thailand luv your work keep it up ... Let me buy you a beer soon , my shout swap you for a spain story
Very nostalgic Kev... Yeah.. I missed the draft... lol.. only three...and technology was such.. we heard little about the war, which ended in 75.., growing up...Nice find ..I suppose the US had lots of bases in LOS...from which they launched attacks on Laos and Vietnam; hence these left overs. Tums Up
The US Army had to get out quick and tons upon tons of stuff was left behind !
Cheers Kev.. Yeah.. i did some research of sorts.. apparently 80% of bombings on Vietnam were from US bases in LOS.
this is boss even better than combat dealers on quest ! hed love this place for a massive nam pick . really loved this one amazing what you find on the side of the road . !

Sorry tony h, I'm back in Pattaya now !
This is the place: goo.gl/maps/sBHRfq4PFzy
Yes that's the one, I updated Google Maps before i put this video on, Its great to see they have updated and using it already !
Interesting but why the secrecy about the rotor from the Huey.
The rotor was still attached to the whole Huey in original condition they wouldn't allow me to video it !
Its hot
FFS Kev, make sure Donald doesn't find out about this place existing......lol
Might have been able to pick up a surplus razor Kev
Yes, I did notice the need for a shave while editing, Sorry !
yeah--a cut throat (it's a joke kev)
hey kev you said your going to korat are you going any futher like udon thani.
Hi Gavin, No i am back in Pattaya now !
Must be worth a fortune!
Some is but probably most isn't, It should have some historical value as it was actually used in a conflict !
I've seen rebuilt army Jeeps for sale in Saigon for around $2,000. Most of the American Jeeps were either returned to the U.S. or intentionally destroyed . So most of the surplus Jeeps available in Nam originally belonged to the South Vietnamese army.
In Thailand they drive on the left side of the road & in Vietnam they drive on the right side so the steering wheel placement would vary depending on location.
How does a British Phone Box find its way here ???? they weigh a ton
Quite amazing what you find out here sometimes !
The owner wouldn't be happy if too many people come sniffing around by the sound of it.
Unless they were buying !!!
What will you do in Korat? You never tell if you have dates there, you meet a lady in Korat?
I took a lady to Korat to visit family !
I'll take one ejector seat for a helicopter and some fly screens for my submarine windows.
Did i miss the submarine fly screens ? 😜😜😜
Here's what the place looked like 4 years ago (according to Google Maps):
