The average knife collector has no idea what a sharp or thin edge even is. A guy i watch on here (mostly for comedic value) made a video yesterday going on for 5 minutes about how microtech's absurdly named "m390MK" is an amazing steel because the factory edge was so good. He made 3 cuts in heavy card stock as his example of how great the edge was. Most of his videos are so uninformed, they almost come off as satire/parody, but this one was even more hilarious than usual. You’re right . Learning to sharpen is a good skill . I never got an edge so well done as a fixed angle sharpener and really enjoy laying back some bevels .
I like 17 degree as well 👍. Soemtimes 15 .
