Years ago, if anyone managed to have a _perfectly_ styled hairpiece, the old school pageant girls would actually spray the wig with furniture lacquer. It never moved again, but it was rock solid. As a bonus, the refreshing scent of pine would slightly conceal the fact that so many queens rarely launder their drag (it might damage the feathers and the rhinestones they applied with only hot glue). A tip for those that can relate to what I just typed: To freshen up a costume, take a note from both theatre costumers and even pop stars on world tours: They spray the garments with vodka.
Now that almost every trick of the trade is accessible on UA-cam, there are but a few things drag queens hold onto with an iron grip just to maintain even a fraction of the mystique we enjoyed prior to _Drag Race._
@@giggles7179but it makes it high level drag to people in third world countries, we do not have ANY professional drag queen wig makers in my country there is like literally 20 drag queens that are constantly performing in my city lmao, so these videos are a very big deal for us
Yes! I like.to use wood glue and water. But thats really for a permihold on the wig. Cant wait to try the way you did the back to hide the whefts. Beautiful work
As both a drag queen _and_ someone who experienced this firsthand, it truly is a very bad idea to pull zip-ties with your teeth (see 36:25, 39:47). My mother always warned me about opening cans of soda with my teeth (because my _other_ awful habit at the time was biting my fingernails down to nothing). and I really, _really_ wish I would have taken that advice to heart.
thank you so much for this review, mother is serving the children with knowledge. If you ever have time I'd love to see you style pig tails!!! Seems so much more complex
Omg thank you SO MUCH! I do wigs here in Brazil for my local girls too, I often use epoxy resin for these permanent hair styles, it is amazing for really locking the style forever, if you apply it in the end you can actually perform in the water with no worries 😅
Heya! I've played around with resin before doing some of those gravity-defying swirly wigs before. There is a couple reasons why I moved away from resin. My wigs are a little on the expensive side with the HD lace and the other features so I like to leave the option of re-styling it for my clients if they want so they get the most usage out of their wigs. Another reason is that the resin is so hard i don't want any of my customers injuring themselves (let's say doing a deathdrop in a performance or whatnot). I still have all the resin so i could offer this extra layer if they desire but for now i think i'm happy just using the glue What's your insta? i'd love to check out your wigs!
@brookekhaki OMG, I never thought about it being a safety hazard, you're so right 😳 😆 I usually work with resin on the wigs for my drag since my clients usually want a wig that they can re-style also. You can find my wigs and other works on my drag profile @licorinaimperia and my wigs only @portaldasperucas Keep up the work, it is truly AMAZING 😍
Another way I have seen to thin the braiding hair is to split the bundle in half and put them back together a little bit staggered, and doing this a lot of times gives a nice fade in density.
My only question I still have is taking the wig down before hand , do we stretch it a certain way (when I style I usually have to stretch my wigs out on the head
I'm not sure if this was mentioned already but is this just water and white PVA glue or something more specific? Do you air dry or do you dry in a wig oven?
I hope you don't mind the smallest bit of constructive criticism, but an alternative to the toilet paper rolls and glueing hair onto them, I might have considered wrapping the base of the ponytail with a _second_ braid made from the remainder of the Yaki hair or even with the chopped pony, very much like Madonna at the peak of her fame with _The Blond Ambition Tour._ If that's a reference anybody reading this doesn't get, shame on you. Go look it up. NOW.
May I ask a question I tried to follow the video for two times now I face a problem where at the back of the head, the hair didn’t really forming like a one piece helmet But there are thick bunch of hair glued together, but still there are space in between them and cannot cover completely with my hair at the back And also it doesn’t look like it’s hair that growing from the back of my head Am I not applying enough glue? Or what is the problem here
Heya! thanks for your loveeee~ It could be a couple of things- If it's an old wig the elastic might be stretched out, if it's new your wig block might be too small for the wig itself or maybe you just need to pull it tighter onto the wig head (be careful with the lace). hope this helps!
@@brookekhaki thanks lovely, gonna try this. ❤️❤️ Think I need to pull the wig down fully on on the stand and hopefully works!! Thanks for not gatekeeping these tips as well lol x
I sort of wonder how style with 2 ponies (or I guess pigtails, sorry dunno exact name) it’s all sort of the same but a bit questioning how would the hairline be hidden

This comment had so many interesting factoids and antidotes

You are a genius! I love you, thank you for this!
Can you show how you would do this using a switch base with the PVC attachments?

I love the balck one, with. ponytail i hope u can teach us that
honestly it's pretty much the same but instead of attaching a braid you attach a topper- i'm not sure a whole video will be worth it 😅
Your voice is so smooth and you are so cute
thank you!
Can we get a tutorial on that ginger colored unit!!
Ask and you shall receive! The next double-stack updo I do I’ll make a tutorial for 😋

how would you do this with a straight ponytail?

You might not be using enough hair from the ponytail? I’m not too sure- send me a message on insta with a pic and I’ll have a look!

Hi love, what tipe of glue you mixed with water?
Elmers school glue :)
Thanks love
Quick question does it matter if u use white glue or the clear version of the glue??
i don't believe so- to be honest i haven't tried the other one but i don't see why it would

What kind of glue do you use??
hey hey! just Elmers PVA glue! works a treat!
How far do you pull the wig down in the back?
until the elastic straps running down the wig are flat and tight against the wig block! :p
