This song is full of emotion and melancholy. I can't stand people who sing this song smiling. Alongside Lady Gaga's version which is also amazing, this version is my favorite. Very well done!
I'm floored .. I have been listening to all the various versions of this song today because I love it so much - Natalie Cole, Linda Ronstadt, Queen Latifah... but your beautiful perceptive interpretation was like I was really hearing it for the first time. Thank you so much for sharing your gift.
You have superb taste. And this kid….. everyone younger than me is a kid now.. I’m not being disrespectful. I’m just so happy that this beautiful music lives on! When he sings the line “I’ll forget you, I will” my heart breaks … in a beautiful way.
Usually this song is performed as a spotlight battle between accompanist and singer but this is a true collaboration. One of my favorite interpretations hands down.
Seventh Heaven is made a reality with these two wondrous MEGA TALENTS...I fell into heaven and cannot figure out how I came upon these ....it couldn't have come at a more incredible time for me. Sigh...tremendous gratitude for this joy. Thanks my dears. xxoo Trudi
This is a crooner's dream song and Tony's take on it is a favorite of mine (along with Lady Gaga's) over the more established jazz icons. But, as a fellow crooner, it is Tedd Firth's exquisite and flawless accompaniment that gives this version a 10. Beautiful job gents!
Stunning. I came here from a Coltrane search and am amazed I did not know of this guy. Fantastic and moving arrangement, interpretation, and confident approach to the melody. Nat King Cole-type confidence. Truly, a beautiful voice. Thank you so much, Tony!!
What a combo. Tony's interpretation of this wonderful classic tune takes your breath away. And as I've commented elsewhere, I'm such a Tedd Firth fan. Those of us who are wanna be musicians who get to hear him perform in venues around NYC are so lucky (I heard him the other night at Carnegie Hall w Michael Feinstein). I can't even figure in my head some of the changes he is playing here, and Tony is so good in that he can lead and expound on the melody over his voicings. Bravo.
They make such an amazing team. I'm so jealous that you get to see them live. I'm going to try to get him to come to Toronto. He's been to Vancouver and Calgary - time he came east. Toronto and Montreal both have good jazz audiences and summer jazz festivals!
This is a difficult song to sing well. But you nailed it, Tony. Technically brilliant and emotionally piercing. Bravo!!(And kudos to Tedd Firth for his ace accompaniment!)
Wow. Before I've thought of two recordings competing to be the definitive rendition: Johnny Hartman with McCoy Tyner and John Coltrane, and Ella Fitzgerald with Oscar Peterson. Now there's this, right up there. Simply wonderful rendition.
Just incredible ! Excellent voice, very tuned and a beautiful tone. Bass without any difficulties. I notice a little resemblamce with the voice of the singer Harry Connick Jr. Congratulations. Forgive my intrusion, I am a sufferer jazz pianist and a try to vocalist.
Can anyone spell S.U.B.L.I.M.E.? The thing that strikes me about this singer he is not just singing. He is living the song, which is very hard to fake. This guy is a true blue man and a bona fide singer. Rather, a bona fide artist.

@@TonyDeSareMusic Gotcha. Have been listening to the album on repeat for a couple of weeks and I am loving it. I'm a jazz performance minor with a vocal primary, so I am trying to adopt this smoothness and easiness in the voice. Listening to you has been very helpful. Thanks so much!
And I thought Gaga did the best version, but hmm, thanks for keeping it slow. Did you know Sinatra opted out of singing it because it was too challenging? Gorgeous. Even better than Billy's and he wrote it!!!!!
Count this song a privileged to perform. Unless you can put your best out there don’t bother. This thing ran on too long you need to compress it. Less theatrics and more music focusing. Your meter tic between words is too slow I’ve noticed that on many of your selection. You cannot convince us by hanging on words that will not fly. This song start to finish could compress to 3 minutes with same results. You’ve got this nice voice don’t get careless with your delivery. Reading press clippings even makes things work. Big fan of you here, don’t fail me.
Finally a man singing in a baritonal key. All the richer for it.
Flawless rendition. He really understands the lyrics, and his phrasing delivers them in a sensible, coherent manner.
This song is full of emotion and melancholy. I can't stand people who sing this song smiling. Alongside Lady Gaga's version which is also amazing, this version is my favorite. Very well done!
This is good. I like your diction, so important in such a complicated song (musically and as far as the lyrics are concerned) Great!

Very good Singer. Sing with the heart. Keep doing Man.
Just beautiful. I'm speechless.

Really amazing version!
That was amazing!
Well done. Beautiful diction. Considering the giants who have gone before us and performed that song... you sir, have some cojones.
BRILLIANT rendition Tony! Sublime really.....you are so natural! THANK YOU for recording this classic...I'm buying it as soon as it's available!
Fantastico !!!
I would finish 3 martini's from start to end. Great singing.

This was the best yet. Very difficult song to sing. Shows off his great talent.
Once again you prove you are the master. You just did what Sinatra couldn't do and it's exquisite, simply exquisite. Thank you for this.

Brilliant work as always, Tony. We hope this is on the set list when we see you in LA at the end of this month. Oh, and "The Nearness of You" as well!

DeSare deftly picks up what Sinatra postponed in 1958.

Alberto Francisco do Carmo nice
Une chanson pas comme les autres.
Do you have sheet music for this specific piano arrangement or was it mostly just improvisatory?
This was just improvised, Josh!

Tedd Firth! Didn’t you go to High School together?
KT Sullivan I’ve known Tedd since 3rd grade!
And I thought Gaga did the best version, but hmm, thanks for keeping it slow. Did you know Sinatra opted out of singing it because it was too challenging? Gorgeous. Even better than Billy's and he wrote it!!!!!
F*ck. And I mean that in a good way.
Nailed "wrong, again."
Donna Summer does it best

Nice but It's suited to the female voice, nothing beats Lady Gaga singing it
Reminds me of Gaga
He kinda looks like Jo Calderone
Beautiful!
Thank you!
You welcome brother!
