Enjoyed your comments on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment.
Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on UA-cam. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of UA-cam 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers.
Her first song at the competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing, transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation. Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic. Diana was the last singer to perform .. The judges are other singers who are competing against Diana and each other .. and their reaction then is from her peers. They guy with the beard who stood first is a one time guest - he is a famous Opera Tenor in Russia. (the nine singers are the same through all 9 shows with a different guest judge each time). She took a ballad and turned it into a dramatic aria of obsession spiraling into madness. At least that was my interpretation. People are going to recommend other performances by Diana on this same show. I'll go the road less traveled and recommend another great Russian singer named Pelageya. My two favorites are "Under the Green Willow" and "Canção do Mar".
Crow would be a great follow up it’s really up her alley

He said something like the following .... I've seen a lot of artists and musicians, I sing myself, but this girl is special.

Diana sang this Elvis Presley song in the first episode of the 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMASKgoon) competition. Diana is the youngest participant (18 ys) and with her first song she tore the participants and viewers from their seats.
9 winners of the previous shows 'The Mask', 'Superstar' and 'Du bist Super' take part in this new format and they have to sing in 9 categorys: Folk-Hit, Song at the End of the 20th Century, Soviet Song, Pop-Hit, Song of your Choice, New Music, Song from Cartoon or Film, Rock-Hit, Grammy
The man who jumps up is the famous opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and husband of the world-well known opera singer Anna Netrebko. He is a guest of honor and representative of the operatic genre in this first episode of the competition.
Those competitors have to evaluate each other and they have praised Diana in the highest tones: “Diana has no competition on the show, she amazes with her talent, it is impossible to tear yourself away from her, you want to listen endlessly, they have tears in their eyes and are even afraid to blink”.
8 out of 9 participants (Diana cannot give herself any points) gave Diana the highest number of points (9). She won the first episode. I'm looking forward to the next episode, next saturday.

That said, I think this is a great companion piece to “Wicked Game” in many ways, and it is one of my top two or three of her nine performances on this show. Hello Adam and thank you for your fine reaction. This was the first song of a new TV show in russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well knows artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. november. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18) won this competition. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow is her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion.

« Mama I am dancing » is an upbeat performance. «Personal Jesus» was a showstopper. « Crow » was epic, « Not yet evening » was mesmerizing, « Twist in my sobriety » was seductive and sensual, « Road » gives the notion of fatality. In « The little prince » she was a little girl again. She is an intergalactic singer and an outstanding performer. She could easily win Hollywood if given an opportunity!

There are 2 versions of this song. The Light Version, in the major key, which was sung by Elvis Presley, and the Dark Version, in the minor key, produced by Tommee Profitt, and sung by Brooke. Diana sang the Dark Version, and added to it half way through to the ending. Could you do a reaction to this song? By singing this one, she is able to show her extraordinary range and tones.
