Divine Love
I grew up in Christian Science, attending the Sunday school. I still value everything I have been learning in that beloved little place -- with a value far above amethysts or rubies.
Even now, as an adult, I value it even more and more and MORE.
In my growing years, I have faced ceaseless tribulations and have waged war with countless erroneous suggestions -- spats with family members, false ideas of health, the tendency to get angry or succumb to despair over stuff I hear in the news, willfulness, harsh language, the tendency to freak out over little things, and even the belief of me having what they would call "autism." All these things I struggled with. Sometimes, too, I had family members needling me about my appearance before, and a family member confronted me again for the umpteenth time on something she didn't like about my looks (this has happened before). I felt like I had been unjustly spoken to, to be honest. Can you imagine the hurricane of material beliefs whose eye I had been fumbling around in?
This was the one final thing that opened my eyes to the enormity of what I had been through -- I had become so wrapped up in the testimony of the material senses, that like the Prodigal Son, I had become "destitute" and had to be humbled. Humbled by serious heart-searching, plus a thorough overhaul of my thinking -- the unmasking and correction of every error. Humbled even by the realization that I had to turn back to the Truth.
And so it turned me, like a tired child, back toward the arms of Father-Mother God, back to our divine Parent, who guides with patience and wisdom and both expects and enables the same of all of us. Now I am on the path to spiritual rebirth. I am working on learning to know the Truth for everyone -- including those whom human will might deem hard to forgive. I am working more on learning better to love everyone as I know God would love, and learning how to be a better "porter" at my "door of thought", as Mrs. Eddy says.
Clinging even more firmly to Christian Science as a drowning man clings to a life preserver, I am aiming to watch my thoughts more closely and, should any tribulation come my way, face it down with what's spiritual, not material.

Your profound explanation, recognition, and exposing of the blatantcy of error has certainly catapulted your understanding that it is most assuredly doomed to "vanish into it's native nothingness". I grew up in a church that spoke of the great 4 Charles filmore Ernest Holmes Mary baker eddy and Emma Curtis Hopkins
I’m currently reading Science and Health and I’m very much into it. So when I ran across this video I was really excited to see what it had to say. Evan is an excellent speaker with a lot of enthusiasm. But I’m only 15 minutes into it and I’m stopping to write this comment because I’m starting to have difficulty in maintaining focus. How can you possibly talk about Mary Baker Eddy’s miraculous recovery of health without mentioning Phineas Parkhurst Quimby? Not only did he heal her, but she became a student of his. This leads to a trust on the credibility of the very message Evan is trying to deliver. I plan to finish the video because I think there is a good message here. But when we talk about the history of Mary Baker Eddy we need to tell the whole truth.
Hello, Danno, thank you for your comment, and your feedback on this talk. You are right that there is an involved history behind Eddy's life and the discovery of Christian Science (too much to talk about here). There are some great sources of information including two biographies of Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer, and a series by Robert Peel.
Eddy studied with Quimby because she saw people like herself who were suffering from physical problems and getting relief through his treatments. Yes, she experienced a temporary healing. However, her invalidism returned. What she learned from Quimby was that the human mind does not heal, but simply replaces one belief with another. She found permanent healing by turning to the divine Mind, God as Jesus did. This is the basis of Christian Science.

I've probablly watched some 20 videos on Christian Science and not one has taught me anything. This one was probablly the closest. But still never says exactly what to do, and how to do it.

What about confessing with our mouths and believing in our hearts that Jesuschrist is our Lord and Saviour and that Christ is the only mediator to the Father as the Bible states?
