Saiid Conteh Then listen to the Nelson Mandela tribute song with this very speech sampled!!on my channel right now.you gonna love it,the perfect song for you.
Feeling very proud today to be an South African...So many great leaders participating this memorial. Great speech from Obama. Everybody in SA talking about this speech
One of the best orators of all time. Simply right & beautifull speech. Even the heavens wept. R.I.P. Madiba. It was a blessing to have walked the earth in your live time
I would like to thank you to those people who posted these videos. We shall always remember this day and this strongest speech of America's leader. The son of the nation and also the son of the Abathembu has gone to rest peacefully. When the God speaks Always his words is the last words. He decided to take the hero of the nation and we have accepted though our heart are painful your soul may rest in peace Tata
Mandela u gave blacks hope , and proved to everyones heart that anything and everything is possible i love you and RIP you are in great hands and have left a great path for everyone to live as one
This brought tears to my eyes. It's a weird feeling to have, being so sad and yet so happy to have lived in this country during his time. He will forever be remembered. Ubuntu shall live on through his memory. Hamba Kahle Nelson Rolihlahla "Rocksteady" Mandela. The messenger might have faded away, but the message shall forever remain.
I was young when he died, but lemme say my piece. Mandela was a wonderful leader. He was what Obama here should've been; a peaceful version of Abe Lincoln who fought for what was on his brain constantly, using words and unity as his weapon.. never giving up on his goals. He was a true aspersion to the rights of the world, and a true hero. MLK, Chief Joseph, Rosa Parks, Micheal Collins and Ghandi would be so proud.. RIP to the great Nelson Mandela; the man who stood for the rights of South Africa, and the insperation of many. One of the last great liberators of the 20th century. July 18, 1918 - Dec 5th, 2013. _"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."_
This has been edited.Mandela earned his place in History through Struggle and Sacrifice. What a great feat for an ordinary village boy.I cherish his memory and as long as I live,I will always find inspiration from this great man.R.I.P Madiba.
I'm proudly South African and will always love this speach. I accept every thing and show a great honor to my president and wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for Mandela so this is dear to my heart.
Truly the best speech given at the memorial, he does not call on the past, he tells us to learn from it, he does not attack others, as that would be pissing on the death of Mandela, he explains Mandela truly the way he was over the past 20 years, and he reminds us that any colour or creed can make it work, so all can live in peace and harmony. I am proud to call myself a South African, but I feel that all our leaders should learn from Madiba. RIP
Loved this. A shame I didn't have the chance to see this when it was sent (European) but it is such a great speech about one of the greatest persons that walked this earth. Rest in peace, Nelson Mandela
You can have whatever opinion you want about Obama, but this is a speech on behalf of Nelson Mandela. Aren't there appropriate political videos for comments like that? Like Obama or not, this video is about Madiba and remembering his beautiful legacy.
Well said 8azile8, thanks for writing that on behalf of our father Nelson Mandela, I'm from South Africa by the way and this all above comments they not good at all and doesn't link with the Speech of Obama
Tumelo Percival No problem, I think he was one of the greatest men of our generation and I hope we have more people like him. Much love to S.A. from NYC.
Uhh, you're thinking of Morgan Freeman. The funny thing is the exact same thing happened in India. xD They put up a billboard saying RIP Nelson Mandela and it had Mr. Freeman's face on it. It's actually kinda sad.
Ser Nomad Are you sure? lol Because Morgan Freeman is an American Actor. I'm not sure whether you're trying to be funny or serious, but Zuma is the current president and he looks nothing like the guy you're referring to.
Now lets ALL talk Less and Do MORE!!!!!!! Great speeches. Start small help a stranger. Maat Kheru Madiba!!!! Your heart has been weighed it is in balance you may proceed!
Great eulogy for a stupendous man. May Madiba Nelson Mandela bestow upon us the undiminishable prospects of equality for all of humanity and life on this planet.
7:00 to 8:11.... there is a hidden message there... those aren't just the words of Mandela... he is suggesting something there..a new idea...a new way of life.... and it's about time we had a president say words like that... just hope Obama has the courage to do it as Mandela did...hope Obama's words are truth and not just for show...
Thank you for your tireless devotion. I fully support you 100%. We have a segment of scoffers who are blinded by heliish resources but they too will soon learn that you served in spite of them and you are a dignified leader. You never miss the water until the well runs dry. Thank you Mr. President.
As usual, an extraordinary speech and oration by an extraordinary man, whose tribute must have been one of the most, if not the most fitting for Nelson Mandela, whose presidency set such an example, not just for politicians--not at all just for aspiring leaders, but for aspiring human beings and for those on the brink of losing hope, or needing to be pulled back from that abyss after they have tumbled over. I am so grateful to have lived during the time of Mandela's liberation, the end of apartheid, and the presidency that seemed--and was--nothing short of miraculous. Likewise, I am blessed to be alive during the terms of the first African American president of the United States. And I saw the (public) end to the cold war. It is true that change on a worldwide scale is possible--and we have seen it, and it can and will happen again. Mandela's life always has and will continue to give me hope. Thank you for letting me see this--it means a lot to me. With great love, Namaste, Pam
President Barak Obama is undoubtedly one of the greatest leaders (or perhaps the best) the world has produced in the 21st century. He's a man of high integrity and unequaled family values. He's simple but extremely intelligent, and a good communicator who delivers his speeches with great energy and pristine clarity. Thank you the son of Afrika (with Kenyan roots) for demonstrating that anybody, irrespective of racial context or family background, can achieve anything he puts his heart in.
From Candidate Obama in Berlin to President Obama in Johannesburg, I'm so glad to have such an eloquent and intelligent man as my president… And let's not forget his beautiful first Lady!
ok so president obama can speak at Nelson Mandela memorial service but not Michael Jackson memorial service. That is just pitiful. Michael Jackson helped segregation of blacks and whites and different cultures by his music. And he was probably one of the most important stars in music this world will ever see.
but nobody cared to watch the greatest hip hop tribute song made with this Obama speech, see Revolution Nelson Mandela Tribute on my channel and thank me later !
Having read the comments, I find it extremely sad that so much negativity can be taken from this speech. It was truly inspirational and aspirational. What is wrong with at least trying to live up to the values of equality, freedom and justice? If we remain bitter about past transgressions and hold onto our differences, then history shows that we slow down the progress of humanity and perpetuate misery. A lose/lose situation. Why don't we try forgiveness for a change and get on with trying to improve ourselves and to make a positive difference, however small?
Mel Jenkins When you are under so much pressure, you have to endure his work. He is slowly but gradually fixing the errors left by the previous dictator. Mr. Bush.
I'm not american, but I think you do not understand what Obama was walking into when he took power. He was forced into this conflict. The President is nothing other than a puppet of the government.
I am by no means an Obama fan, however; that was well said. A truly open mind could take much from what was said here not just for race but for spiritual and gender toleration among all nations. And though I may not also agree with Mandela's political philosophies, it's his wisdom that inspires growth in humanity
Beautiful touching speech by Barack , Brought me to tears,Honestly, May God bless you abundantly Obama, You are as Madiba was, A True Great Leader, A leader with true intentions, Pure intentions, The United States of America is Lucky,

Imagine trump had to give a speech like this
Trump is uneducated
that would be totally inconceivable
C reader ok try. J u buy
And yet there are 10 times more people honoring some Paul Walker's death instead of this great man.
John Johnson please elaborate...or state a source. ..maybe a link
We need good people who do good things. Thank you for all that you do. You will forever be important to us all.
Sharing to remember this Obama speech
