Filipino Corned Beef and the Delusion of Utopia

  • In today's video, I drive several miles down a forestry road at Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina, USA and then hike to do some dispersed camping up on a wooded hill. There, I set up camp and cook a popular Filipino dish called Delimondo Garlic & Chili Corned Beef on rice before discussing the futility of a man-made utopia on earth.
I'm a Baptist and my understanding, after studying Biblical eschatology, is that someday, Jesus Christ will return to the earth to establish His millennial kingdom. Currently, despite all of man's attempts, there will be no paradise on earth. Of course, a government that works for the people, instead of against us, will help improve life to some degree but the real utopia people should be striving for is eternal life with Christ and it's only obtained by admitting one is a sinner, believing in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and accepting the free gift of eternal life which Jesus makes possible ("By grace are ye saved through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast").
You might like this video if you enjoy camping, hiking, campfire cooking anything that has to do with the great outdoors, and God's Word. While there are no banana leaves in NC, I did use some big leaves and ate Filipino style, with my fingers! And, oh, I can't forget to tell you my savvy musical ability playing a Japanese instrument called Otamatone.
    Mabuhay!

A tomato and onion salad with a bit of soy sauce is the perfect accompaniment to most Filipino dishes. 😉
