I'm not saying the buildings are bad, but how come that 100 years ago, architects were able to build highrise housing with interesting artistic designs and today, we don't seem to be able to do the same? I'm happy to see that the people who designed these buildings understood that building black or grey cubes ins't the way to go, but I do have to say. When is minimalism, too minimalistic? Academic studies show that depression levels increase in buildings like these. And that's not a shock to hear. For years people have been complaining that these type of buildings look and feel lifeless, emotionless and without character. They're boxes. And I do have to agree with that. There is a reason why people love going to the Grand Place. Why? Because the buildings look interesting. They're full of art. No matter how many times you look at them, you keep seeing new things. These buildings here are built to be functional. And that's understandable. But the eye also wants something. It would have been fun if the designers added some "tralalas" on the corners of the buildings. Let your mind run free. Most of these buildings are just a copy-paste. But regardless, thanks for using pretty colours instead of black or full glass. What I mean is take a look at Manhattan in New York for example at the highrise buildings there from the 1920s. They're to this day iconic and beautiful. We can do better.
