The way he and his band conduct themselves on stage, the stunning music and instrumentalists, and the fabulous audio production make for a one-of-kind live experience. Also, that mandolin solo was FILTHY good.
Summer of 2013 when i started hearing this song i also started dating my wife. Always brings me back. I love her even more. We've been through so much and we are still here.
Found this song during Californication. One of the best scenes of that season. Duchovny did a great job expressing the emotion of “I will go, if you ask me to.”
I love the fact that no one is screaming and badgering and yelling obnoxiously and clapping their hands, over the tones of Greg and his band. It's absolutely disrespectful to those who save up money to see their favorite artists only to be bombarded with distracting noises and over dramatic "fans" while I give a huge credit to Greg and the band for such an amazing live performance. Shout out to the live Audience for being respectful the entire time and listening to the music speak for itself as it should be. Well done.
How incredibly pretension and selfish of you to assume that your method of music appreciation is the only valid form. There are many cultures all over the world that clap and stomp their feet to music to participate and show their appreciation for it. Some people go to concerts to be part of the chorus not just to examine the music like a beetle on a card. If you want to listen to unimpeded by "common folk" listen to the album and be done with it. If you want to go to a concert you need to be prepared for the certainty that people will enjoy music in different ways than you.
@@hastyscorpion I totally get the "be there in concert to be apart of the chorus" I can agree with that. But if you think that's my only version of music appreciation, than that's where you are wrong. That is just a very good example of one. There's all sorts of different genres of music that calls for "stomping your feet" or "clapping your hands" metal, rock, a little bit of blues. Than there are cultures that use the clap of the hand as the instrument itself. But in the culture of the USA, where the concerts are funded by the hard earned money of people, it should be automatically respected that I'm not gonna go there and over yell and holler over Greg and his teams music (especially for his type of music where its folky and kinda slow) what you say is "Selfish" I disagree, it's the complete opposite it's mutual respect out of and for everyone. Heck, there's a comment above that just proved my point. The girl was yelling "Big Black Car" after every song. You're in a tight environment and you're close to complete strangers. So out of the many options of "music appreciation" you're basically going to scream at the top of your lungs demanding a song to be played while also sitting next to a stranger completly disregarding the amount of noise comfort for his or hers ears. The list can go on and on. You're version of "music appreciation" is (from what I read), "Music is universal and different to each person" in short. Yeah if the concert was free, you can jump off each others backs for all I care. But as soon as money comes in, people pay for the artist at the end of the day. Not for some fan to ruin the show.
@@hastyscorpion it's just like a movie, you don't go there and talk the entire time. As I stated before I can go on and on. Out of respect for you, I'm not gonna completly just call you an idiot and say you don't have the vision of what true music appreciation is and all that. I'm sure you have examples, and I have examples too. But I can see where you thought sitting still like a duck is the only way to appreciate music, because that's kinda what it sounds like in my comment. Which I do get. But to not waste your time and mine, I get what you're saying. Peace and farewell.
Love is the relinquishment of logic, the willing relinquishing of reasonable patterns. We yield to it or we fight it but we can not meet it half way. Without it we can not continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality. Hill House, not sane, stands against it's hills, holding darkness within, has stood so for hundreds of years and might stand a hundred more. Within walls continue upright, bricks meet neatly, floors are firm, and doors are sensibly shut. Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House And those who walk there. Walk together..

I discovered Gregory Alan Isakov at the end of the Netflix series "Haunting of Hill House" with this song at the end of the series. Since that time I have listened to his music for so many hours. He is incredibly talented.

I discovered him not because of Hill House. Mark Knopfler took me to Ruth Moody, then she took me to the Wailin Jennys. Searching for someones similar, I arrived to the work of Red Molly, The be good tanyas, and finally Gregory Allan Isakov. What a sort of good music listened in the last months. David Dunst agreed. As a musician, I learned early that the key to playing electric in this circumstance isn’t when to play, but when not to play. It’s when art really hits your soul.
