Hey @chris Albert, do you know what’s causing those lockups? Or do you have a solution on how to fix it? I have an iStar Ultra SE with 9 HID RP40 readers and as you mentioned they very randomly seem to lock up, hold white LED, and screech. I’ve never had this problem before and HID and Software house tech support has not been helpful at all. Thanks for the video and I appreciate any help you could provide

Yeah, they seem to be related to the speed at which the i-star ultra panel would pulse the power going out to the reader. When the ultra panels boot up, the ACM will pulse the power on the reader port a couple of times. I think they would also do it after a full download whenever the crossfire services got restarted. This would make certain RP40 readers (I think related to the firmware on the reader), but not all, think they are going into a low power state and lock up in that "reader protection" mode where they turn the LED white and do a constant beep. Older RP40s didn't seem to have this issue, only newer ones it seemed. The only way to make them stop is a power cycle. So, as a workaround, at the time, I tried wiring all of my +v red wires from my readers directly to the i-star panels positive 12vdc terminal on its power supply. This kept constant +v to the readers so they would no longer lock up after panel resets or downloads. Since then, I don't think we have sold any more RP40s, so the issue kind of went away. Hope that helps lol :)
