Great work! VLS's big weakness is rearming & we have an absolutely massive area of sea to cover with very few ports to service & resupply from. So we definitely need these guys to be able to perform this task safely, wherever they can be berthed, with minimal supervision & overheads.
This may great for Broome and Darwin, what about the rest of WA. For example, the only regular army unit in Western Australia is the SAS. In terms of logistics WA still relies a single all-weather highway and one rail line to connect us with the eastern states. In reality there two other connecting roads; The Great Central and the Tamani Track both of which are unsealed and a nightmare to drive on when dry and impassable when wet.
State government issue, probably should not have been allowed by the CLP government of the day to be given the lease. Or at least had it subject to a rigourous review by the then Coalition Government federally. But the state government wanted the money. HMAS Coonawarra is a similar situation to RAAF Base Darwin, sharing or very close to civilian infrastructure.

Huge
The rearm in Darwin, was that done at the Chinese 100year leased wharf. If so not very operational security 😮
No, it was done at Larrakeyah
Wow
Armed forces wearing camouflage with hi vis over the top seems wrong eyed to me. If we were at war would they do that?
Find a way to rearm a VLS system while at sea.
Did you have to get a licence from the Chinese Owners of Darwin Port before moving munitions in?

Great .... now we are a target...
