    Amazing talk! Also have just read the book, which was very inspiring... the little things that meant a lot, the close friendships & how she loves people, her mums devotion (I'm her mums age) the way she loves her grandparents & how she spoke of her sisters & Jemma .. these things really resonated for me. The way she sees the world which I think is her main message... is very wise & and gift to have. It took me a long time to see the world like this, without any serious accidents I so relate and am reinforced by her story about what really matters in life. Living by the sea, being authentic & cherishing the things we love while acknowledging that life is far from perfect at times. I'm a nurse & also see that side in others as well. Thank you Emma for your voice & story. I wish you a long long life filled with more joy & beauty. And give your mum a hug from me.. she sounds like my kinda person

    I _really_ respect her for stressing the point that her recovery was only possible because of the specific nature of her injury. Too many of these inspirational recovery stories skip over that detail and imply (or allow people to believe) that 'anything is possible if you try hard enough' and so on.

    She is one fortunate lady. Maybe this is why she experienced this incident a decade ago; to encourage others who have not learned how to focus on their perspective on what's truly important to them in life. The one thing she failed to bring up; putting one's trust and faith in the God who could heal. Sometimes our greatest healing is in the mind rather the body, as seen with Emma.

    • @BillyGates1721

      experiencing god as a healer is posible. I have no doubt about it. My own parents are an example for the OPPOSITE. Believing in god kept them away from becoming healed. So my conclusion is: it is again the humans and what they do if something heals or not. To me personal there is no exclusivenes to god to be the only or th best "healer". And if you would live your attitude of knowing the "real truth" absolutely consequently, you would end up KILLING people with a different position. So to me if there is a real universal "good" thing it is TOLERANCE. As one example tolerance that Emma Carey did not talk about god.

    • @itzcaseykc
      @itzcaseykc 4 місяці тому

      @@BillyGates1721 God would have all living a life of good health and a life of abundance. Some however would leave Him if that were the case, due to the allurement the world has for many, and because that person did not have a solid anchor in Jesus our Savior and the scriptures in the first place.
      I have a sister who was that way. She became complacent in our mutual beliefs and became discontent... only to be lured into the Mormon beliefs 150%.
      IMHO, it is better that our mind's heart be foremost healed than for our physical body to be, since out of the heart springs forth all that we say and do. However, whatever God does for us, there is a reason.

    • @BillyGates1721

      @@itzcaseykc You made wrong assumptions about the situation of my parents. Their BODIES were healthy. It was and is a problem of their minds heart. Though after you writing "However, whatever God does for us, there is a reason." In doing so, you have declared yourself holy and the others fallible, so that they do not yet understand why God does this to them. This is killing with words. Walk away in this self-satisfied arrogance that you no longer even notice.
      Do you remember:
      "Whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me."
      I am sure you will find answers again and again infinetly In doing so, you have declared yourself holy and the others fallible so that they do not yet understand why God does this to them. This is killing with words. Go away in this self-satisfied arrogance that you no longer even notice.
      Do you remember: "Whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me."
      To quote a famous wording from Jesus: "But I tell you:"
      A psychotherapist can do it better.
      You will shake your head in pity
      "Oh how deluded he is"
      This is the kind of Christianity that prevents from real healing.
      When will you have the courage to deal with the human psyche yourself, OUTSIDE of your faith?
      Has God given you enough strength to do it?
      You will see no need to do it in your smug arrogance. What makes you so sure that God has not given you THIS task? Your preacher did not tell it to you.

    • @itzcaseykc
      @itzcaseykc 4 місяці тому

      @@BillyGates1721 Why are you directing so much anger towards me? I didn't do anything to you or your parents.
      No... you are making claims that do not exist. You misunderstand what I said in generalities and took it personal.
      You said it yourself, "Believing in god kept them away from becoming healed." That is either your opinion or theirs, but it certainly is a statement I highly doubt that is the cause for not being healed. God sometimes use doctors to heal someone.
      So what if we aren't healed of a problem plaguing our bodies? The question for all to ask themselves is this, "If I'm not healed, should that keep me from leaning on Jesus and obeying His Law that is meant for our benefit???" The sick we will always have with us up to when Jesus comes in the clouds above, including the poor [Mark 14:7].
      I never inferred I am holier than anyone, nor do I know why God does what He does, only that the reason He allow things to happen in our lives are above our understanding.
      I never inferred someone (or your parents) had done something to not be healed or anything of the like. I myself have not been healed from the damage and injuries I've sustained through the years through no fault of my own, yet I do not blame God for not healing me. What is important is that we all have the responsibility to go to Him so that our mind's heart is healed in order that our character may reflect His own.

      1. She jumped from a helicopter, so lower altitude.
      2. I understand it to be that the instructor pulled the chutes too late and they both got tangled. The tangled chutes still provide a LOT of drag.
      3- she would have fallen legs or pelvis first and been pulled forward a bit before fully hitting the ground because of the drag from the tangled chutes. This would have saved her vital organs from being damaged, but obviously destroyed her lower body in the process.
      I’ve seen a photo of a 100% free fall impact (pro jumper killed himself by jumping from a plane) and he was compressed into a 3 inch pancake. 100% Flat Stanley.

It’s incredible and super interesting how some people can survive such tragic accidents and others don’t. With what happened to Liam Payne a month ago unfortunately, and then watching this Ted talk, it’s kinda crazy to think about. The fact that her and the instructor both survived too is crazy luck.
      Also nostalgia trip with the flat Stanley comment, but that awful what happened to the person.
