Hemant ji, one important thing to remember while carrying IR check of electrical equipment that the output voltage of Insulation Resistance tester should not be more than the service voltage of the equipment which is to be checked.

my question is related to NGR, if the neutral is earthed, how can any other phase touch that cable, are they not physically separated? if yes, then how can fault current from another phase travel to the neutral phase? thanks

सर, अर्थ वाली 1 कोर केवल और 3 कोर वाली केवल में जब हम किट भरते हैं तो दोनों सिरे से दो अर्थ कि स्ट्रिप निकलती है, क्या हमें दोनों सिरों को अर्थ करना चाहिए या दोनों का तरीका अलग है। कृपया जानकारी दिजिये सर।

Dear Sir, Consider normal operation of cable wherein all three phase cores are properly separated from each other and Earth. If one of the core touches with ground i.e. armouring of the cable, say R phase. Then insulation of other 2 phases i.e. Y and B would become live at 415 Volts i.e. 1.732 times of usual voltage. Means, Y phase insulation is under pressure because of Y phase voltage internally through the conductor. Whereas, the same Y phase insulation would become under stressed because of R phase voltage externally through contact of the core with Y phase as well as may be with armoured of the cable.
