Really nice to see that reaction from Tuffers. He looked after Henry in the last few years of the great man's career I always felt. Gently correcting him when he didn't quite see things correctly and doing himself down to make sure Blowers never looked too mistake prone. Top bloke.
I tell you what'll always get me about this clip - the fact you can hear the crowd applauding in the background. Cricket is such a family, in a way - we give it out, we hammer our players sometimes, but we always look after our own. Blowers was one of us - a true gentleman, and a stalwart of the game. He deserved that applause, and he deserves it still. Well done Blowers indeed.
Initially I didn't particularly like Henry Blofeld's commentaries, but then I realised how good he was at literally painting pictures with words, whether it was about the action on the pitch, activity in the crowd, aircraft and helicopters flying overhead, or even buses passing outside the ground. I used to think that if I was an ex-pat Englishman living a long way from home, listening to him would make me feel quite homesick.
I will never tire of hearing about the pigeons at lords or the cranes around the oval with blowers in commentary , a true gentleman , the last of a dying breed 👏🏻👏🏻
Bloody hell, Henry Blofeld was great to listen to, along with Christopher Martin Jenkins, Fred Trueman, Tony Greig, Jonathan Agnew, Phil Tufnell and many other Pommie cricket commentators. Fair Bloody Dinkum They are so much better than our Australian commentators, so boring especially Terry Alderman, Terry would put you to sleep.

Top bloke.
Agreed. They were an excellent double act.
I agree too.

Excellently well put, my friend. The greatest sport in the World, with the most respectful and well mannered, well humoured watchers thrown in.
And even Sky Sports took a moment to acknowledge it.
there is nothing more beautiful to listen to then TMS on a summers day in the garden seriously .
Quite right. Absolute pleasure in this fast paced world
Could not agree more. Dozing of only to wake up and find England had a load of wickets. Cheers
Quintessentially the voice of English cricket.
Never be another Blowers
I was lucky enough to sit next to Blowers while he commentated on a charity match once…..an afternoon I will never forget
I cried watching this. Bless the man who provided such joy. And joy really is the only word I can find that adequately sums up this legend.
Lovely that the crowd joined in. Blowers was a ledge.❤
How can it be 6 years already? Time passes too quickly.

Tuffers knew he was going to blub, thinking the shades were going to save him.....failed
No histrionics, no blubbering, just hands over, absolute legend.
Well.....he then did a lap of honour round the ground, high-fiving the spectators, so it wasn't exactly John Arlott.
Henry & Johnston my all time favorites TMC radio BBC commentators from whom I learnt English language subltities
Blowers was the Peter Aliss of cricket. Top pair.
I never noticed Tuffers dabbing tears away at the end.
My dear old thing !
"and there goes another bus"
Love TMS, love listening in the summer here in the UK. Blowers is definately my dear old thing. Miss that voice.
I cant forget his voice.... listened to him first time in late eighties... my father was big fan of his commentary as well..
I got a bit choked up at how moved Tuffers was.
Was an excellent commentator back in the day but went on far too long made too many mistakes but it was his own decision to retire
Yeah I cried too, Tuffers.
Blowers,my dear old thing.

A complete gentleman, great charter my dear old thing god bless you henry.
Jim Maxwell? He's Australian.....
Henry Blofeld was Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld's first Cousin. FACT, no bullshit true story.
I feel this should have been given more importance.
Also have TMS on now rather than watch it.
🏏💜😪💔🏏
Legend. Sorely missed.
Are the hundred or so BBC staff readying for another Glastonbury jolly?
😁❤
Interesting 😃❤🇧🇩
Now we have to put up with people talking about 'batters' instead of batsmen!
You’ll survive old mate
Christ, really? 'Put up', sure....literally doesn't impact you in the slightest does it?
I think it was lords
good commentator but preferred Arlott, did you see the weasel Graeme Swann ran away from the aussies!
