What a fight put up by the Swiss. Nothing to be ashamed of
Except their history.
@@PROVOCATEURSK This is hockey not the UN
Switzerland has come a long way over the past 20 years or so. Some really incredible hockey talent has come out of their ranks. They are no longer the pushover team they once were. Taking them lightly can now lead to some interesting outcomes.
As a swede. The Swedish players slacked so much during this game, I Swear! It didn’t even seem professional. Me and my dad were both yelling at the tv 🤦♀️
Dude that would have been the biggest upset if the swiss won i wanted that so badly 😂😂😂😂
Congrats Sweden. But boy....some brutal calls from the refs.
IIHF needs the host country to go far to sell tickets now that Canada is out!
@@stopdroproll7258 😀right? I was watching Slovakia v Finland today and the whole place was silent as a crypt.
The ref missed at both directions, Sweden should have had atleast 2 powerplays before that. If it was rigged they would have got it. But the last penalty was bad.
@@MsUpptaget I guess so...anyway hockey gods decided in favor of Sweden so I am gonna respect that result.

Soft hooking call in OT but Switzerland got off free with two huge blown interference calls and a no icing call with like 5 minutes left. Refs couldn't handle the pressure and gave us a freebie at the end which is a shame
I am a competitor. If I win, I want my wins to be merited. That was NOT a merited win for Sweden! That was refs doing everything they could to hand them the win. Must be a disgusting feeling for those Swede players.
@Pottan23 The Swedes are a better team. They do not need the refs intervening. Let the boys play! Let the win be merited! That's how you win with pride. Winning like that is gut wrenching.
Weren't even interference calls, both times the two players ran into each other
That was clear hooking. Read the hooking rule.
@@steve8803bruh, it was one bad call, but many missed ones. That's not refs doing freebies.
Could we get some highlights other than goals? Maybe a save, hit or missed chance????? These are dreadful
And barely any replays either. At least the controversial penalty was shown.
I don’t think Switzerland got hosed but it sure did feel like they did. That “slashing” call was soooooo fn bad. The Canada vs Czechia and Finland Slovakia games being great and recent examples of how anything can happen in the final 2 mins and Switzerland not getting the best opportunity at the end didnt feel right. Especially after them losing in OT. Terribly officiated game as well. But happy for Sweden and hold ur heads high Switzerland very underated tourney performance from you guys
@Pesto21 yeah, as a competitor I want to win fair and square! The Swedes are the better team for sure, let the boys play and let the win be merited! The refs really wanted to dictate the outcome here and that is not ok. No matter which side you are on.
@@steve8803sure that slashing call was awful, but don’t forget about the dozen other calls they missed. Hit from behind, another time when the Swiss player literally wrestled a Swede down and blew off an icing late in 3. Period.
The amount missed calls in the latter stage of the 3rd period made Sweden deserve that call and isn’t spearing as it was not slashing a 5 minute penalty?
@@AggoAlm that was my point when I said that they didn’t actually get hosed but it just felt like it. I don’t fuck with (and never will) make up calls if they call it in moment maybe it gives Switzerland a chance for a better finish. It’s all in theory but yeah that was a shit show
someone else already said it but yah there were like 2-3 other fouls they made
it was bogus i think the players got cocky thinking the refs aint calling shit
and instead the refs picked the most petty shit i ever seen lol
I was cheering for sweden but that was the softest hooking call ive seen

@omfg322 not even close to being as soft as the "major" penalty they called at the end of the 3rd when nobody was even touched. What a joke.

Lol it was a hook. Most refs would have let it go in OT but it was still a hook and a legal call. And the goal lol you obviously dont know the rules which state:
goals scored while attacking Players are standing in the Goal Crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if:
(I) an attacking Player, either by their positioning or by a "relevant contact”, impairs the Goalkeeper’s ability to movefreely within their Goal Crease or defend their goal; or
(II) an attacking Player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a Goalkeeper, inside or outside of their Goal Crease.
Player was barely on the line of the crease and only for less than a sec before the puck went in. More importantly there was clearly not any contact what so ever and the goaltender could move unhindered.
@@BilldalSWE no iihf rules and nhl are different your not allowed to be in the crease at all when the puck is shot doesn't matter if goalie is prohibited thats why tsn said it was controversal learn the rules between international and normal
@@BilldalSWE the changed the rules i thought they couldn't be in the crease when the shot was made regardless of interference plus they made a big deal about him being in the crease but either way stupid ending to a great game that hook was not really a hook it was a stick lift that was embellished cause hooking is when you put the blade vertical this was horizontal and upward motion

Where are the full Sweden vs Swiss highlights? The five minute major that wasn't? The man in the crease on the Swede winning goal? Further compounded by a steadfast refusal, by offending refs, to review that tainted game ‘winning’ goal? All surgically expunged from TSN highlight videos?...
I don't have a problem with the penalty call in OT... Still, THIS GAME has left a really, REALLY bad taste in people’s mouths...
xxx
There was some controversy in the Sweden vs Canada round robin game too... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Sweden wasn't the better team, on the night... they were... Still, the decision, by a Swedish ref to reverse a 5 minute major to no penalty, when the offending player, who comes in from behind (albeit partly from the side too), extends both arms just after making contact, thereby increasing the impact of the hit/magnifying the danger, was, to me, especially after such a long review, a BRUTAL CALL…
Don’t get me wrong… What we saw in this Swiss vs Sweden game takes TAINTED OFFICIATING to a whole n’other level… GIVING THIS ‘SWEDEN HOSTED’ TOURNEY, AND THE WORLD JUNIORS IN GENERAL, A BLACK EYE…
Xxx
TSN’s Jeff O’Neil has already gone on record as saying "he won’t be back, if the 2 refs in this Swe/Swiss game are allowed to return for another World Jr tourney", or words to that effect…
I applaud " O'Dog" for saying this
What was that George Santayana said about "those who fail to learn from history" ?
Xxx
Harkening back to another year Sweden HOSTED World Juniors, and this is going way back to the 1990s...
Just to set the scene... We had Manny Legacy and Paul Kariya on that year's version of team Canada… This was back when Sweden vs Canada was, more or less, the defacto gold medal game, for several years running…. Our guys are winning 5-4, in the 3rd period vs Swedes, before a boisterous Swedish crowd, and a Big Wig from the Swedish Hockey Federation comes down to ice level and starts screaming at the ref to call a penalty vs Canada, which the ref promptly does… And less you think I’m making this up… IIHF later admitted this happened... Plus the offending Swede big wig, was subsequently censured…
Xxx
And then we have the incident after Canada beats Sweden in the gold medal game in 2009 World Juniors, when the Canadian Embassy in Sweden gets sprayed with ketchup, combined with some really disparaging comments reportedly by Peter Forsberg on live Swede TV, vis a vis Canadians and Canadian hockey players… Comments which no Canadian TV commentator , had the situation been reversed, would ever get way with saying on Canadian TV… Yet (Ethnocentric?) Swedes seemingly didn't bat an eye???
Xxx
How about the time that Swedish kid throws his silver medal in the stands, after losing yet another, World Junior Gold medal match vs Canada?
Xxx
How about the time in Torino, when the Swedish Olympic Team coach, more or less, admits on live TV to purposely losing a round robin game, to avoid facing Canada in a sudden death match?
Xxx
My point is that Swedes, in years past, have given the appearance of being ethnocentric, plus poor losers and poor winners, at World Juniors and IIHF sanctioned events… So now, doesn't it seem like "History Repeats" ???
Once again Swedes have left the impression of being poor hosts… by allowing what ‘looks’ like an effort by refs to help the home side advance… by allowing what was CLEARLY a bogus major penalty call, even after review, to stand …. And by allowing that tainted ‘man in the crease’ OT goal, to go unreviewed by refs... Further compounding this, after the fact, by a failure to acknowledge any of this... AND BY ALLOWING THOSE OFFENDING REFS TO GO UNPUNISHED???
Sorry, but that’s unacceptable… At a bare minimum, SWEDISH HOCKEY FEDERAL/MEDIA SHOULD JOIN DEMANDS TO HAVE THE OFFENDING REFS EXCLUDED FROM THIS AND FUTURE IIHF EVENTS…
XXX
If not? What say, we play the next few World Juniors without Both Canada and Russia?
...And what say we organize a North American based World Junior-style tourney… Canada, Russia, United States and one other European Hockey power, not named Sweden? If TSN doesn’t want to pay for the rights to this… Fine… They’re not the only Canadian/North American Sports Network
xxx
Howsa bout we exclude both IIHF and Sweden from future North American based World Junior and International Hockey tourneys going forward?… Until 1) The offending officials from the Swe/Swiss game are given lifetime bans and 2) We receive assurances from both Swedish Hockey Federation and IIHF, that future signs of refs aiding and abetting the Homeside, in achieving a TAINTED VICTORY... WON'T GO UNDRESSED/ UNPUNiSHED…
