75k for a 35k truck. Is it Bidens fault? No .what we have is runaway inflation. Blaming labor unions makes no sense, Contracts are NEGOTIATED by lawyers in both sides. The employer knows how much they can’t pay and the union knows how much they can pay. It would make zero sense for the union to negotiate a contract that will close the business. Blame this all on Greed. They at least used to give us an excuse for prices going up now the companies are like fuck it raise the prices.

      Hi,
Ok so I understand your statement , and frustration. AND the more truthful less hyperbolic take is, that while yes the prices are ridiculous, these trucks 9 years apart technology wise, and I don’t just mean screens, I mean as far as required safety tech, is much more advanced as well as the tech employed for emissions are more expensive. They are over pricing the vehicle, and there are more costs involved with making this vehicle and no 9 years old truck isn’t the same vehicle. Comments are fun and hyperbolic statements get to be a bit much

I won't shed a tear. I've been a Detroit Three Cheerleader since I was 10 years old and simped for them for over 50 years now. No more.
This industry has eaten itself alive from the executive floor to the shop floor and every floor in between for 40 years. Short term gains at the expense of long term viability. Big paydays for executives and Union leaders. Continued shrinkage of the workforce over that time:
The United Auto Workers (UAW) workforce in 1979 had a membership of over 1.5 million.
The union’s membership has fallen to around 390,000 active members.
      Good work UAW.
You'd think the labor savings would allow management to hold the line on prices... But no. Big fat pay checks and stock options. Golden parachutes. All brand equity for sale, cheap!!! Where can we offload production for $1.25 an hour and a 16 hour day??? How much cheaper can we make timing chains, radiators, turbos, transmissions, how much more plastic can we engineer into our next gen engines? How can we pound our suppliers for cheaper parts???
Screw em. They hate their customers.
Buyer's Strike. Fix what you've got and let them burn.

I bought my current 2005 Ram 1500 Daytona edition (2door/2wd) used in 2007 for $13k. It only had 24k miles on it when I bought it. I bought it from an individual who was desperate to sell for financial reasons. I am still driving it today with almost 260k miles on it.
I have sank some money into it over the years, keeping it maintained and repaired, but not any more than what I originally paid for it. That includes a full engine replacement (reman) plus new torque converter last year at around 250k miles. Also, I completely replaced the suspension, steering, and brake systems myself 4 years ago.
All of that, and I still haven't spent even a third of what a new truck costs, and my old truck is still beautiful and mechanically sound.
Do yourself a favor and just keep what you have. Be happy with it. If you have the money to make payments on something newer, just save it and use some of it occasionally to maintain and repair what you have.

Toyota is no different in their view of the american auto market. Your right! The way these companies overseas operate is like a saboteur in our midst. They buy a big company here in the US then strip its assets buy selling throwing in the dumpster. Then take huge write-offs from the great uncle here. They even get to the point to push safety beyond the norms. This way they duck any liability that would arise. But it's on the workers dime. Time is money, money is time. But as you said, they don't care. They are still making money. A good example is a look at Greyhound. First Group bought them. Did not want Greyhound. Just school buses. What did they do. They made Greyhound look profitable by not purchasing new buses. Then, scraping or selling others. These were even going to overseas containers. This way, a profit is shown on the ledger. So buy us. At the same time, the US government is still paying them to continue being a national transit network. That today it's not as it was. Look as you drive the roads. Do you sea Greyhound. It's not what it was by no means. Now they are sold a new company has them. It going to be a struggle to bring them back. Much like an instant replay is happening with Stelantis Chrysler. Who continues to get breaks from our uncle Sam on losses and depreciation. The one suffering is the worker. There is nothing in the tax code for revenue loss. Or career changes. So look at the parent company. They are the ones picking the bones clean worldwide. Just like First Group did to Greyhound. I don't see Chrysler making a comeback with out some kind of government intervention. And it would need to be under new ownership again.

I told my friends I don't see how Jeep can stick around with basically one or two products to sell, maybe sales from the other brands could prop Jeep up for a short time but definitely not the long run. @@TheLemart well he's the head of the snake. So when you talk about unions, it's disingenuous to ignore his or other union bosses' roles.

Just had my local DJR dealership pepper my whole neighborhood with candy filled bags advertising themselves. Hopefully it’s a sign they’re getting desperate.

UAW sweating it now, their hindsight isn't 20/20. Now their members might be regretting their 'NEW' deal with manufacturers. Sometimes you have to make due with what you have,...just like us consumers have to with our older vehicles.

Union bosses don't care about the worker, and the worker doesn't realize it. Union bosses will laugh all the way to the bank in spite of layoffs.

Mopar guy all my life. Love my 2015 Ram and classic mopars from the 60s. I have a feeling Dodge/Ram (why did they switch to Ram and not Dodge Ram?!?!) will be gone in the next 5-10 years

Stellantis builds the Ram 2500 & 3500 in Mexico. The 1500 is so grossly overstocked and not selling (due to being overpriced and horrible quality) that they're just shifting the 1500 production to Mexico too. I don't see CDJR surviving this, not without major price cuts and quality increases.
    Ford isn't far behind.
