I like a good back story as well, and this movie did the BEST version of Bruce Wayne's back story of all the movies I've seen. So much so, that this movie, for me, was just as good, if not better, BEFORE he became Batman then after he did, just from watching all the pieces come together.
Nick, the way u summed up all the Batman stuff in the beginning for ur mom-beautiful. The best summary in the fewest words in history…while still hitting all the important parts.👏
NICE! A lot of directors were considered for the job of making this movie happen: Wolfgang Peterson, JJ Abrams, Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, and the Wachowkis. A lot of actors were considered for the role of Batman: Billy Crudup, Hugh Dancy, Henry Cavill, Wes Bentley, Jake Gyllenhaal , Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Downey, Jr, Heath Ledger, Josh Brolin, Joshua Jackson, and David Duchovney. Cillian Murphy was even considered for the role as well, and even screen tested in Val Kilmer's Batman Forever suit. Viggo Mortenson, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, and Daniel Day Lewis were considered for Ra's Al Ghul. Rachel McAdams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Amy Adams were considered for Rachel Dawes. Kurt Russell, Chris Cooper and Dennis Quaid were considered for James Gordon. Marilyn Manson, Christopher Eccleston, Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Davies were considered for The Scarecrow.
Nolan did what I like the most, bring realism to his work in many ways. The Tumbler, for example. They built five cars and most of the scenes are real, with the exception of the roof drive. I'm so happy you are watching this 🤗❤️
In the late 1970s, DC Comics had a "DC Hotline," an 800 number you could call to hear a recording of a DC staff member tell you about upcoming comics. One week, Denny O'Neil, the creator of Rā's al-Ghul, did the recording, and he pronounced it "raysh." I had always said "raz" before that.
@6:28 --- in 1974 bruce discovered a unknown brother, thomas wayne jr, who had been institutionalized as a boy after suffering brain damage from a car accident. thomas jr escapes and becomes the "boomerang killer" whose spree ends when the spectral hero deadman decides to use his body as a host. thomas jr later dies taking a bullet meant for batman. storylines from the 2000s make thomas jr 1) an alternate universe batman-style villain called owlman and in the 2010s 2) a member of the secret villain society "the court of owls"
As in the originals, there is a dark atmosphere, a broken hero, someone who doesn't fit into this hero mold at all. And that's exactly what made this character absolutely interesting, even in the comic era. Christian Bale as the perfect Batman, Michael Caine as the butler, Rutger Hauer as the unscrupulous representative", Scarecrow played absolutely brilliantly. Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Liam also fit seamlessly into the Brilliant area. These three films are a monument to me; I have found the absolutely right portrayal of Batman, especially since I didn't like any of the previous films in any way. However, the series from the 1960s is an exception.
Just imagine being those cops surrounding the building where the Batman is for the first time and you hear the rumors of this bat person that can fly and all that and then a giant swarm of bats engulfs the building. Like what is going through your head after that?
@@Phillyd0gg the Animated Batman will always be my favorite iteration of Batman (RIP Kevin Conroy) and Mark Hamills Joker in that series always gave me chills just how good he was.
It tickles me when you swear jen, as a Scottish woman i understand that language well (we are well known for it here.)😂 And Nick your movie knowledge is astounding as always, loved it guys, you keep me company. ❤
If you guys are interested in Batman films, I would also recommend Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. This is also another great Batman film, and it displays the voice talent of the late Kevin Conroy voicing Batman.
I understand what Joe Chill did was wrong, but besides taking into account his motive was desperation over greed, he did agree to turn State's Evidence for the case against Falcone. Falcone makes more Joe Chills everyday. I believe - hand on heart - it's what Thomas and Martha Wayne would have wanted.
A request: As one (or rather, two) of the few reactors who has seen both "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon," please watch "The Cheap Detective" (1979), a zany parody of both of them.
2:28 Batman and Robin came out in 1997 (and to this day George Clooney STILL apologizes for "destroying" the Batman franchise. 🤣) Can't wait 'til you watch The Dark Knight (the only movie I've seen in the movie theater FOUR times)
He trained the Dark Knight. He trained Jedi Knights. He was effing Zeus. You take his daughter, he will find you and he will kill you. Think of another role where he kneels, closes his eyes and accepts his death.
Definitely a rebound after Batman and Robin (though casting a white guy for an Asian role is a bit cringeworthy, but Liam Neeson is a great actor), but just wait until your mom gets to Dark Knight. I still consider Michael Keaton the quintessential live action Batman, but that's probably the best Batman movie, with the best villain, no disrespect to Jack. Gary Oldman is also terrific in these movies and speaking of Commissioner Gordon, the best thing about the latest Batman movie was actually Jeffrey Wright, who we all know from the Daniel Craig Bond movies as Felix Leiter. He's really good in the role too. Oldman and Wright obviously bring something different to the role, but they're both very good. I still can't see that glittery vampire as Batman, though. At least he didn't sparkle, I guess.
Nah, that'd be Blade. Infinity War, Winter Soldier or my personal favourite, even though he's not a superhero, Dredd. Major props to James Gunn Super too.
The best thing about people watching this movie for the first time, is that they will get to The Dark Knight shortly after 😀 And don't get me wrong, this is a really good movie, but TDK is just 10 times better!

Agreed!
I wouldn't say THE BEST backstory.
I love seeing how excited mom (Jen) gets!!

a very stacked cast... little King Geoffrey

One of the inspirations for the plot of Batman Begins and for one of the scenes in the film was the graphic novel Batman: Year One.
Love Michael Cain’s Alfred

great movie
The Dark Night Trilogy and the Tim Burton Batman movies are my favorite!

George Clooney was the best Batman ever. He had the Bat Glare.
He does the Glare at the end of The Flash.
Nolans work on these films owes a helluva lot of debt to Frank Miller. Wish someone had told them how to pronounce Ras!.
Can't wait for the Dark Knight that will be a good one
Ra's Al Ghul was not one of Bruce's teachers. He's an arch-enemy.
What's funny is in the comics other superheroes don't like going to Gotham City.
Not to mention, Batman doesn't want them there.
He trained the Dark Knight. He trained Jedi Knights. He was effing Zeus.
You take his daughter, he will find you and he will kill you.
