For anyone wondering - he said on Twitter that this was filmed in March, before he found out, so him looking at a lymph node is really just a wild coincidence!
It's one of those things that one looks back on with future-knowledge and tries to imagine what it was like back then.
It's his final destination
Man just microscoped his personal enemy, taking a good look of what he' setting out to overcome. Best of luck on your future journey!
Get well soon Hank ❤❤❤
Wait, is he sick? :O
@@robertschnobert9090 he was diagnosed with cancer unfortunately
@@robertschnobert9090 he’s got hodgkin’s lymphoma :(
@@robertschnobert9090 He's undergoing treatment that should 100% CURE his lymphoma.
This hits different knowing what Hank is battling right now
We love you, Hank.. and we're all rooting for you. Thanks, always, for your infectious joy for learning
You sound so different between SciShow where you more 'excited and upbeat' and Microcosmos where you are much more 'quiet and thoughtful'. I almost didn't recognize your voice the first time I watched Micro. This particular vid is all excited and upbeat and the norm I'm used to. I like both versions of presentation, but the Micro is so soothing, almost meditative. Just thought I'd tell ya.
He has, on more than one occasion, talked about it being nice to just do something calmly.
I hope you are able to get better and heal Hank. I love all your content. You've done so much for science education. Take care of yourself first.
Hank is such a dork and I love it
I had no idea Hank ran this channel because he uses such a chill voice here
i was so happy to see hank! get well soon
Hank looking at lymph nodes hits a bit hard.
I just got mine 3 days ago. Been really enjoying playing with this and getting a feel for it
Thank you to the whole team for your work to make the microcosmos more accessible for everyone!
I didn't realise it was you. Love you're work
Me neither! I'm shocked, somehow!
Saame
Science dad is everywhere
i laughed a little too hard at the "1x" magnification reference at the beginning
oh, jeez, knowing about what's going on, that you're microscoping a lymph node - that's rough. best wishes, Hank.
I’m sure he had a laugh on noting it. You don’t get to be fun goofy science guy without being able to laugh :)
Taped 2 months ago, so he didn't know yet.
6:56 "Now I've put in the lymph nodes...boy I know nothing about histology" oh no...buddy you're about to learn...
Absolutely biology pilled
Could you make a video on the process of designing this microscope, and the whole process of getting these into production? I'd be very interested to see the decisions made between accessible cost vs quality components when making a product designed to be the first real leap into hobbyist microscopy
@@Crispy_Bee Hank and this channel are cool but taking a 100% markup for a logo and a phone mount really ain't a great look. Not a fan of when youtubers/influencers rebrand a generic product while talking about "working hard to produce it," especially if there aren't any notable customizations.
@@xomm I would hate to think they'd do this, but I suppose unless they give a breakdown of the design I wouldn't know.
@@IgneousExtrusive Google the model number on the box (BM-136C). It's available for 140 US dollars at retail online. Disappointing that this is just a re-branded item sold for a 100% markup, from a UA-camr I trust.
Look! It's Hank the goofy science guy! ❤
Speedy recovery, Hank. Love you😘
We love you Hank, do you what you love!
A movable stage sounds great after using my old microscope where I have to move the slide around by hand, while also pushing down or pulling up on the stage to focus lol. Can't wait to upgrade, this video has my excitement boiling over.
Hank we are here because of your enthusiasm curiosity and desire to inform others of what you learn!
Much comfort and support to you as you enter the battle with Lymph-gone bad, and any time you want to poke your head out we will be here cheering you on!
Thank you for the demo, shivering black bell thumbs up,
Hi Hank, I have an astronomy telscope, with a smart phone adapter, that does basicly the same thing as your microscope phone adapter. I find it works much better to take the eyepiece off of the telescope, clamp the adapter and the phone on the eyepiece, and then put a bright surface behind it, like a white piece of paper, while I align the phone, with the camera turned on. That way, I can more easily center the phone on the eyepiece. I can see the edges of the light coming thru the eyepiece, and center it, and it does not need to be in focus at this time. After the phone camera is centered, I can put the whole unit (phone, adapter and eyepiece) back on the telescope.
I am wondering if that process would help with the microscope as well.
Thanks for always making my journey to the microcosmos a super chill experience.
I ordered you microscope and it just arrived! I’m really exited to open it (on my birthday) so what microscope tips do you recommend?
"I tell you, I know nothing about Histology" - the universe seems to have taken that as a challenge- how to make Hank learn with a John level urgency about a field of medicine.
Get well soon, Hank 🙏
Love you Hank! Get well soon!
I had no idea Andrew Huang did stuff like this. I love his work and man the synthy doops fit so well. Great stuff.
Nerdfighter since 2013 here… It took me like 50 episodes to realize that it was hank’s voice, its so soothing! ill get a microscope now!
Microscopes are the best, as a hematologist I can't imagine working without one, it makes work way more interesting.
Best of luck with your therapy
Thank you for sharing your new toy,it's a beauty. I wish you many, many, many years of fun Hank.
Really interesting and educational as ever, Hank. Brilliant stuff, as ever! Thanks to all the team. Cheers from England.
Hey get-well-soon hank love the stuff love all the different shows your on man
Love you guys, and love you Hank! Thanks for all that you do, wonderful people you are
My orders arrived today 😊. Two posters, Rheinberg filters, Homo Sapiens sweatshirt and diatom shirt. I also got a notification that my microscope has shipped today. I am so happy and excited for my microscope. Maybe that’s my microscope and Hank signed it 😊.
One day, I'll buy that! Looks great! Thanks for the video
Thank you for getting started us all on this journey!
Hank "I know nothing about histology"
Universe "Oh, let me help you with that"
I hope everything works out for you Hank. 🙏 I’ve learned a lot from your work :)
gotta save up for one of these. always wanted my own microscope
We love you Hank!
I was broke while the kickstarter was going for the microcosmos scope and when i wasnt broke the scope wasnt available for purchase yet so i got an amscope b490 to start my micro journey, happy to be a patreon supporter though and got a hydra shirt from the microstore. Looking forward to seeing what videos people send you using the journey to the microcosmos scope!
Exciting stuff!
I love your show, it's one of my favorites on UA-cam & your commentary on the videos is perfect you're like the David Atembourough of the microcosmos.
Awesome!
Big shout out to you, Mike.
This is awesome! I remember as a child my parents got me a little microscope and I thought it was so fascinating finding new things to put under... Perhaps I'll get back into it 😂
This is great! I'm looking forward to getting one soon.
You and your team always doing a great job about microbial popular science!!
What a cool thing!
Mine just arrived and I’m having a blast!
awesome!
That's a lovely washer and dryer you have there
After awhile I noticed I was calmer, THEN I realized there was calming music playing. Thanks for that.
Thank you for including a manual! Some of us still like our information in hard copy!
That absolutely is the best part of buying stuff: unpacking and meticulous setup. So fun!
Thanks for sharing the bizarre world with us, Hank 😊. May this fulfillment sorry you through the next few months.
That phone mount looks so much better than the one that came with mine! Where can I get the new one?
I love it when the Stentor music kicks in
I bought the upgraded one. I am excited 😊
I'm so looking forward to seeing what some people capture! Like a little community showcase.
Ordered one! I didn’t see what happened, but I hope you get well soon!
I already have a swift but i might pick up one of these to support the channel! Also, i wouldn’t mind having another either, so it’s a win win.
This channel is my favourite thing that you do
Looks great 🔬
Getting one for my daughter soon as I think she'll handle it safely lol. Amazing product cannot wait!
I never even considered a microscope, thought i was priced out. This is something I'll definitely be buying, thank you!
Wait Hank Green narrates this channel? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS???
This happened even before the office renovation too. Wow!
great!
QUESTION - I was actually drafting an email to Complexly & James right when they announced this video was coming out, so I put it on hold and have been waiting!! I need something that I can use with my left hand. Or mostly use my left hand. Looks like the focus is Bilateral. Yay! But what about the slide tray? Can it be moved with the left hand? Or can a left handed slide tray be purchased & exchanged? I haven't used a microscope in almost 30 years... Can most of the things be done left handed?
Unfortunately, I have nerve damage in my right hand from multiple sclerosis. I am investigating new hobbies since I can no longer do most things. Microscopy is at the top of my list. Along with doing scent work with my dog...
If anyone knows and could answer I would really appreciate it. Otherwise, I will send my email along anyway...

Such a great initiative to make a high quality small microscope, if I wasn't on my first year I'd definitely give it a try to save up for one myself!
I highly recommended getting some replacement dust covers that will fit. If you have long eyelashes like myself I advise that you get yourself some lenses with eye cups that are long enough to keep your eyelashes out of lens.
For future versions a better foam for transport would be awesome
Oh my, the Games with Hank background, haven't seen that in a while XD
Maybe I'm just old now...but I expected these to be MUCH MUCH more expensive than they are. The temptation has suddenly greatly increased. Darn that inner child who always wanted a microscope.
suggestion for the store.... a water bottle sticker that says "WARNING: Tardigrade Habitat"
Man I want one of these, I can't wait until I can finally afford one.
Never knew hank was the voice of the mc universe
😮 That's amazing that you don't recognize voices. I wonder if that's kinda like being tone deaf.
@@thorr18BEM -- to be fair to Harley Judy, HG does use a much more relaxed and even vocal tone when narrating the microcosmos videos, which is different from the more energetic and sometimes comedic inflections used in a lot of the vlogbrothers videos and even the scishow and crash course videos.
Is there a good free alternative to ProCam?
Coolio. like a kid in a candy store. This is how I feel when I get new aquarium stuff and start new aqua projects. 😁
I love mine, only thing is when I spilled oil on the shutter it ended up cloggikg then rusting so I can't really adjust the apature anymore which is anoying. Not sure if anyone know how to get that fixed
Hank and his brother are behind every cool science channel lol.
Me and my brother got one to share and we love it so far!
Can we use this as a hacky metallographic microscope? Like, shine a light into one eyepiece, so that we can illuminate opaque objects through the objective itself? Too much reflections from internal optics maybe?
Awesome! Going to make a goal to get one😂
How did I not realize that you were a part of this channel too 😂❤ I’ve fallen asleep to these videos for years now so embarrassing 😅
What ??? It's you again ? Are you behind every great youtube channel or what ?
This comment is very funny 😂
Journey To The Microcosmos is one of a handful of amazingly high quality channels on UA-cam. Everyone from the team and the wider Complexly team should be crazy proud of the content they pump out for us (for free!) 🎉
Best wishes Hank in your health journey in the coming months x
Imma have to save for one, I’ve always wanted one. I had a cheap one but it was stolen when I moved unfortunately. Ty for the amazing content!! Stay blessed
Can you tell us what iphone adapter you are using to mount the phone on the eyepiece? What do you recommend?
The custom iPhone adapter comes with the microscope.
Love you hank!
Incredible timing. Ive been looking for a microscope and it's so hard to understand the products out there.
we love hank we love hank
UA-cam didn't show me this when it came!! I want one!
I always wanted my own binocular microscope. These are so much better than we had as kids many decades ago. Histology is something one never gets tired of, it is truly fascinating.
im getting a new job soon so hopefully i will be able to afford one of these in the near future! because i have in my possession a cat spinal cord slide and i have no way of actually viewing it aside from holding it super close to my face lol.
and best wishes and best of luck to Hank! we hope you can keep your spirits up during this tough time because that's one of the hardest things to do and an important part of working through cancer treatment! 💜
Yeah, science!
Just a note: this video was recorded in march
