  • It's Vincent Price vs. plague-ridden zombie/vampires in what is in retrospect a surprisingly influential US-Italian coproduction. Despite falling into the public domain in the US it's now available on video from multiple sources in a good quality TotalScope transfer pirated from the 1980s laserdisc release, although the MGM dvd version remains the preferred option.

You are the best for reviewing this movie. An often over-looked classic.

0:43 imagine watching this on a double feature with Dr. Terror's House of Horrors. That sounds awesome

Good movie. The scene with the dog is fricking heart-breaking.

Freaked me right out as a kid, especially when he encountered his wife turned vampire.

This movie scared the crap out of me, my sister and a neighborhood friend when we went to the theater to see it. Vincent Price's wife returning from the dead and the scene of him dumping corpses at the landfill and burning them just freaked us out.

Being a huge fan of the classic Richard Matheson novel, this version was (*and still is*) the most faithful version of the book; "I Am Legend". For years now I had hoped for an updated version, giving Matheson's vampire novel a better movie in quality and integrity. Sadly, all we got was an unrecognizable & incredibly lame film starring Will Smith, which has now destroyed any hopes for an updated/ true adaption of "I Am Legend". Read the novel.

LATVERIAN1 What about "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston?

Its so ironic that the one version that took the name completely missed the point of the name! Why Neville was the Legend. Even the omega man had its own charm but that will smith vs the worst cgi vampires is unwatchable.

@@willcooke5308 The Omega Man was OK, but Anthony Zerbe was the best part.
Watch "The Last Man on Earth" . IT'S one of my all time top 10 favorites. Price is great. The settings were eerie, yet somehow sad. The first time I saw it, it scared the heck out of me. It's right up there with Masque of the Red Death!

Price is surprisingly low-key and personable in this movie . . . .

We (zombie expert, Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg and myself) produced a feature-length commentary of this film that you can find for free at the internet archive. Please check it out and enjoy!

when was this trailer released? it mentions "zombies" but the film was released before "zombie" became the common term for this monster. was this trailer made later after the film's release & the colloquial understanding of the term zombie?

Amazing how there have been three movies made from this story and they all completely miss the point of the story.
