- hey guys it's josh and before I write something else I just wanna say thank you for the support on my videos
you may not know but I've been gaining views and a lot of subscribers so thank you and I just wanna say we've got a lot of videos lined up so yeah watch them :)
we've got a new face on my channel today Mr.John Frusciante very big fan love his work and love him and I hope you guys love him aswell without further a do enjoy the video :)
Instagram: cobbymate
Hey guys I've changed the title from "John frusciante being a guitar God for 3 minutes and 33 seconds"
To "John frusciante being a great guitarist for 3 minutes and 33 seconds" and watching the video back I
Realized I definetly did not add the best clips but my favourite clips so yeah I see why people hate the title
I will make an updates version with his greatest moments so please no more hate comments about the title :)
Its yours. Dont worry what people think about your title. Own that. I dig it. If we changed our lives because of hate from others, that individuality that you see in Frusciante for example that inspires will cease to exist. Do you friend. You have my support. 👍
@@jbutreallyjaie thank you really needed that but if you go down for a bit you'll see the comments and i just can't be bothered so whatever I still thinks he's a guitar God but keep the people happy.thanks and hope you have a good day :)
@@joshuacobb3923 those comments are coming from intentionally toxic people, just Ignore them, they don’t matter
Cheers mate really needed to hear that today
And I will but it was just constant bullshit at the time but thanks for the comment :)
Please change the title back to Guitar God!!
That's exactly what John is
The bedroom lick is as famous as many rhcp-songs...And it was just an impro....This guy is one of the best.
Jimi would have been very proud of him for that one, and he probably has no idea. It was from the heart. Every guitar player can feel that.. he was playing his soul
Wasn't it used later in a song? Sounds so familiar.
The bedroom lick was after making knock me down you can hear it
Knock me down - 1989
Bedroom lick - 1990
You can definitely hear it :)
@@joshuacobb3923 Jepp...You can definitly hear it. Thanx for pointing that out.
The way he plays both parts surely put me in different moods, though.
Both masterpieces!! :-)
The reason it sounds familiar is because it's very similar to "Can't You See" by The Allman Bros.. go listen to that songs intro 👍🏻... like at the end of "give it away" John gives away the song he stole and modified his riff from. Listen till the ending/outro .. its there.
So thankful this man pulled himself out of the throes of his addiction to continue to grace us all with his talent.
He really clutched up for all of us😂
Bands like this get my respect. Everyone is heard clearly, all get their chance to go off. There's nothing more annoying than bands who drown out the bass player or have the lead guitar overpower everyone else.
These guys have the mix exactly right.
They definitely are pretty fuckin pro. I've never been a big Chili Peppers fan but there's no denying that there's some amazing musicianship that has created some unforgettable, unbeatable songs. I bet they're pretty killer live too!
Just Like Led Zeppelin, The smiths, Tool, Rush, Alice in Chains
@@jorgelimon964 oh, man! The Smiths are an incredible band (so are all those others but I absolutely love them), but I can't stand Morrisey. His lyrics are amazingly poetic but I can't get past his monotone-ness and pompous-ness. Still worth listening to for me from time to time!
The only thing their missing is a rhythm guitarist. Why can't they have Klinghoffer and Frusciante on stage at the same time along with Arik Marshall or Black Byrd Mcknight?
I would love to see klinghoffer play with them but I just don't think it will happen
He understands Hendrix like very few other guitarists do.
That's because he's DOING Hendrix!
@@sahb7834 agreed - one of the few that not just cover Hendrix but develop his work..
@@florinbaiduc hell yeah✔️ he DEVELOPS hendrix👌
and if there never was a jimi hendrix, he'd (john) play same stuff already📢
Yes and no. Hendrix is on another planet.
@@ludomirsteinbruck9376 wrong, he was in another universe, just like Frusciante
John is one of the few guitarists I can feel a real connection with every time I hear him playing guitar. There’s something in his solos, every time it’s telling a story, with different feelings.
You could have uploaded whole slane castle concert
I was tempted to 😃
Right?!
Dude yes
Epic!
I play guitar for 26 years now, but i will never reach this perfection and creativity. Maybe because i play so many different instruments too.
John was my inspiration from the beginning and always will be.
Hendrix was definately a major influence with John. He mentions him in almost every interview. His playing reference is Hendrix. He has learned guitar through hendrix. He is waaay underrated. I believe his playing is on par with Hendrix, his idol. Or even better in some cases. He absorbed all that before he became a rock god at 17.
He is nowhere near on hendrix level of playing
HaAhhahHahjahahHhahahjahahJhahahjJhjahajajjJjajajjajajJjJjJajaahHahhHahahahahhahHhhHhhahHahahaaaahhah ….*deep breath* ….ahhHahahJjajajajJjajajajajHhahahahhHhahahhahahahahhahahahahha
D'fuck, the guy is one of the most famous guitarist in the world and u said he underrated, tf is wrong with u people
I mean if we're being real he is underrated. yes he is in one of the biggest bands in the world
And he is known but if you break it down when do you hear John Frusciante Is as good
As slash or srv or eric johson.you don't but he has made some of the best music of the 80s 90s
And 2000s I'm not saying people don't rate him but whenever I ask people who's a good guitarist
I have never heard anyone say John frusciante it's always Jimi Hendrix Eric Clapton and slash
And that's it he is definetly underrated and that's a fact :)
John Frusciante is a guitar artist and he has a special connection to his guitar, he adapted many influences and certainly created a kind of uniqueness to his play. A mixture between Eddie van Halen and Hendrix maybe. What he and Hendrix have in common is a rawness with the guitar, which is a quality other accomplished players are lacking. But Hendrix took guitar play to another level artisticly, he practicly reinvented guitar play. Whereas Frusciante fall back to flashy manouvers and relativly simple funky/punky licks, Hendrix had many more expressions and variety to off, just much, much more to say on the guitar generally. He did things on the guitar that no one is able to truly recreate, whereas Frusciante licks are fairly easy to handle.
DVD " Off the Map " my favorite. I already have my three tickets to see John on the 2022 tour in Seville in Spain
Off the map is amazing and hope you have fun
I would love to get tickets to see them :)
@@joshuacobb3923 Thank you very much, I'm sure I'll have fun, seeing John was one of my dreams, I hope that one day you can see them live. Greetings and hugs from Granada in Spain.
Your welcome 😊 I would love to see john one day too and I hope aswell.Much love from Birmingham, England :)
Nice :)
I’m a fairly recent Chili Peppers fan but I’m definitely tempted to see them as well.
John's been a guitar god since he was about 17.... awesome clips
Ik it's crazy to think he joined the chili peppers when he was only 17/18 :)
the jamming sessions they have in their concerts, just showcases how much of an improv god he is.
What separates a good guitar player from a legendary guitar player? A guitar player that can get in front of people and play better live than what they recorded in a studio!!!
You know whenever he makes the stepped on a Lego face something magical is happening.
I saw Gary Moore often make the same face..jaws wide open..😎
Among many guitarists I like, John is the only one that took me through such many dimensions of music. From cheerful vibe to depression, through chilling rhythms, finishing at psychodelic jams.
Ps. imo his lyrics are good as well
Yeah same here I see a lot of comments hating the guy but imo he's amazing his music is so addictive good guitar good lyrics and good vibes
What's your favourite song from John? :)
@@joshuacobb3923 It’s always the case with understated & intelligent musicians who don’t just churn out the same old stereotypical stuff, so the mainstream gang can’t get their heads round that and instantly dismiss them accompanied with their usual arrogant attitude about how terrible they are compared to whoever they rate the most! I used to be bothered about reading such comments, nowadays I just fair enough but why are you here watching and commenting on someone so terrible?! Ah yes, that’s right..you really have nothing better to do with yourself! 😉
Yeah mate exactly but it's funny seeing how everyone is getting mad about me calling him a guitar
God it just fits the title and that's what I think of him but yeah the comments are whatever and your right got nothing to do. I hope you have a great day thanks for the comment :)
@@joshuacobb3923 john’s an amazing guitarist and his backing vocals are probably some of the greatest of all time, too! My favourite song by him is “I go through these walls”... It’s astoundingly brilliant! Thanks for posting the video, bud.
@@perrymason866 agreed agreed and agreed plus though it's not my favourite song it's still amazing my favourites the will to death and thanks mate new john frusciante video coming out today stick around :)
Without a doubt one of the greatest to ever play.. AND CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
100%
Underrated what lmao
Yes he is underrated you never hear his name when they mentioned the greats
@@r0bbyinchins because he's alive still
He's not underrated tho
This man inspired me so much. I wouldn’t be the musician I am today if it wasn’t for him
I've been listening to Chili Peppers since Under the Bridge came out, never realized until now how much Hendrix there was in his playing. Now I hear it on every song.
Same!
Yeah theirs loads of interviews of john praising Jimi Hendrix and how he plays
Like Jimi:)
1:27 I though he was about to play “hey Joe.” A true Hendricks fan at heart.
John to his guitar, ''hold my cigarette and let me play you".
wow, he really could keep it going with the speed an feeling. .. impressive
Love JF, he moves seamlessly from chord to chord and is always melodic.
The way he bends that note at 1:16 min is so intense and it transports me to another dimension.
Ik it's so addictive it just sounds amazing :)
His tone is the greatest
It is just amazing 😩
It is just amazing 😩
@@joshuacobb3923 can you send this clip pls?
Out of ALLLL of the musicians I know in the whole wide world of my land of music, I swear John is still up there as one of my all-time favorite musicians (RHCP too), both for his personal albums like Shadows Collide with People and Curtains, to ALL of his work with RHCP…can’t ever forget em’.
He's just great
Thanks for those footages of John , a few i never seen before !
Plenty more john content on the way
Love this man !!!!
Whoa, you all look incredible!!! Saw all your gorgeous pictures Anthony of you and your son at an airport! They were super beautiful. Twice saw your amazing videos. Both times had appointments and could not use phone in Dr.s Office. So I truly loved them!!!! Love you all mucho and ya know it truly!!! Have the best day ever!!!!!!!!! ❤️ love❤️🙏🌹Kathie
They are incredible :)
Has anyone else fallen down the Frusciante rabbit hole lately? I’m still down there 3 years later; his story, musicianship and interviews are all fascinating to any student of life - there is much to be gained from learning about this man. Thank you for this tiny sample of Frusciante’s achievements @JoshuaCobb ❤️
I'm still in the rabbit hole and don't intend on coming out I've became interested in his music and him as a person with his time with the chili
Peppers and just him being solo he's just amazing and thank you I'm planning on making more john frusciante videos :)
Ive been down here for about 20 years 😅 built a little house and everything, i dont plan on leaving
OF COURSE. Been there for almost 8 years (no kidding) haha!
Love talking to people who actually listen to john
Because my mates dunno who he really is so it's cool that this videos bringing all the john fans together :)
We need a well made documentary on the man
There's something special with the concept of a 4-piece rock'n roll band. Something of purity, of raw power, of simple elegance. IDK, almost all my fave music acts are 4-piece bands, so it's a statistic for me. :)
And of course, we're very grateful to the great late Muddy Waters, for he practically invented _the 4-piece rock'n roll band._ 😊🙏
What can you say but the man got the skills that just melt the ordinary mind.
Not to mention a guitar tone that can melt your face half the time while the other times you just feel like a slice of butter melting on top a stack of hot pancakes 🥞
Like this comment if you want a new
John frusciante Video :)
Sure af my man
@@CrawleonDunger well I'm gonna start making one now 😂
Epic footage
Beyond being a great guitarist Fusciante one of the best backing vocalist of all time. His background vocals out shine keidis’ lead everytime imo
Agreed
John cannot be compared to any other guitarist because he is unlike any other guitarist in history.
Johns my hero he's low key because he likes that but for us that play he is so special...He reminds of a Duane Allman that we didn't lose they don't sound the same but we could of lost John way to early and now he is a blessing to my ears.If I ever go deaf this guy I'll miss the most.
Same here his music just makes me feel so free and I listen to a load of other music but John
Just takes you away when I'm listening to my smile is a rifle or the will to death or any other of johns songs you just sit there and think wow This is beautiful. Thanks for the comment :)
Watching this again, been a fan since I was 13 (2000) and seen it before but still watching it again lol 😝🤟🤟
Great to hear your watching again and I've been a fan for a few years my dad got me into the chilli
peppers when I was 10 really I'm 18 now and still loving them :)
lovely peace
last 30 seconds....chills man
Can’t wait to hear the new stuff
Same really looking forward to it :)
Chad really is the glue. The best they all play off. The bands amazing but without every person here doing what they do it wouldn't be the same
0:33 "it's not that far from home"
:)
The last clip with that bedroom lick song lmao
0:50 the migos got alot of explaining to do
the only thing more cursed that john playing a tele and not a strat, is john playing a gibson
Disturbing stuff 🤣🤣
@@joshuacobb3923 Well, nope, I love how he uses it sporadically for a more raspy sound, on Fortune Faded or Ready Made.
I just don't like Gibson's but yeah both great songs :)
Did you know when he first joined the band Ibanez sent him a couple guitars, a wah pedal and one or two other pedals? He ended up smashing the guitars while on stage.. but he kept the WAH WAH.
THANK GOODNESS!!! 😁
Thank God he kept the wah :)
I'm not a big RHCP fan, but that last clip is amazing. What song is that? I haven't listened to them for a while, but I remember my friend and his mom playing the Stadium Arcadium album on a road trip through northern New Mexico up by Taos and the music and the landcape together was just magical. I should listen to more of their stuff. I think they're the last great rock band, really, at least in terms of mainstream bands.
Throw away your tv and yeah you should :)
Go watch RHCP live at slane castle, you will Be a fan for life
2:37 ish…itchin the scratch
This video lives up to its title. Nice.
Yes
He' has that Electric Lady Land mojo working. Total immersion into the realm of sonic self expression. . .
Nice
And I loved the "ATAXIA" project!!!
Chili peppers are one of those bands, you change one person the whole dynamic of the band is changed
🙌🙌🙌
Can hear hendrix all through his stuff
33 seconds (plus 3 minutes)?!
it would be more correct to say that he's a guitar god for 33 YEARS, as he joined red hot chili peppers in 1988
True :)
Wow. The year I was born. Hes one of my top fav guitarist of ALL time. Something about squirting H just gets those riffs out of us guitarist like nothing else; but, passion of course. Im clean now, and this man is as well (as far as I know) and has been a huge inspiration to me musically and story of redemption.
What a year to be born ☺️ and yeah he's just an amazing guitarist and yes he is healthy and is making a new album with the chilli's :)
@@joshuacobb3923 what about 1986 (the year when i was born)? 😊
@@joshuacobb3923 Nice! Thanks for the good news & the + vibe to start my Thursday off. Have a good one!

Can't wait for June 2022 x
Same :)
Favorite guitarist ever.
Same :)
Same, without a doubt
I could listen to that lick at 2:21 for hours. John was truly touched by God in that moment.
❤
It's out of tune and off-tempo. What's so great about it?
Nice jam
That Will Ferrell is a helluva drummer.
Any guitarists/musicians compilations would you guy's like me to make literally anyone :)
Eric johnson bro, he is just crazy at guitar
I'll be sure to make an Eric Johnson video ☺️
Rory Gallagher
Steve craddock
Good choice :)
Wow so cool
Very Nice 👍👍👍👍👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
John is clearly one of my favorite guitarists, and every member of the band represents their part perfectly. So when someone leaves (guitarists) it kind of ruins the chemistry of the RHCP,,i hope they keep giving us their beautiful music for many years to come.
Totally agree and yeah I hope they play forever :)
the drooling starting at 00:58 SOOO in the zone.
Feeling the music :)
Best famous guitar looser ever
The Yokohama jam was great. I wish John did more freestyle jams. His tone is so damn good. I saw RHCP 2 times. First time was lollapalooza back in 1993. Pat Smear had to step in for John due to the heroin problem. Then i saw them in 2002 and John was having an off night. He did jam a little bit but I play guitar too and could tell he was not in the groove. I won't say he was being lazy since i don't want to act like he owes me anything. The Empyrean solo cd has some gold on it.
But i bet John just jamming with Flea for fun would top anything else. He could probably due a tribute to Jimi on his own that would blow our minds.
Yeah his jams are all amazing idk how he is so consistent with some jams and I hope to see rhcp soon especially when the new album comes out and yeah the empyrean album is Just
Great and yeah I would love to see a tribute to Jimi :)
Anyone know where the clip at 1:27 is from? What show? Figure it's worth checking out the whole thing
What it soul 2000 live
This man is God's gift to mankind
Not only another level but a totally other solar system. Thats about the only comment I can make that might be worthy of being up here.
Very nice
Thank you :)
Greatest in the last 35 years
I've got neighbors that play about that well.
Cool
That clip where you wrote you liked that one the most sounded so much like Prince - Colonized Mind.
They sound really similar tbf but I'm sure john actually remixed knock me down by the chilli peppers but yeah they sound pretty much the same :)
In that clip the guitar is out of tune.
I meant no disrespect for JF his playing is great . It maybe that i was around when Jimmy Hendrix was on the earth and his approach wasn't like anyone else . He wasn't emulating other guitarist , his genius came from within like many of the 60's musicians . Analog baby before digital !

What's the name of the song they're jumping together
0:50 He must have started out as a bass player. I see some droolage here.
So under rated
I beg to differ. I don't get the Frusciante hype. Like at all.
And don't get me wrong. I totally dig RHCP...
He's like marmite you either love him or hate him :)
i can really see chad smiths lack of awareness in the end
I think they had the best jams together, behind doors
00:40 what song and concert was this, I need to know
If you have to ask live off the map :)
Awe 333 means love
John Frusciante’s sex appeal is astronomical, isn’t it? 😂 He doesn’t even have to try, does he?
I'm straight and all but John makes me forget my sexuality sometimes 😂
No "Dont forget me live at cigale" ? Comon, this has to be one his best performance
Ik I'll make a future video with some clips from there :)
I got a lot of my style playing from listening frusciante play
Thanks
Thank you :)
