They had a beautiful loving sisterly relationship, but there was always a sour note in it, jealousy, duality, you name it. Their relationship was just like the song played in this video, a beautiful piece, with bittersweet chords.
Well, I think the really sour note was when Margaret wasn't allowed to marry the love of her life. She should have just been allowed and then Margaret could have made her mistake and lived with them.

As a middle child I can completely understand both sides. Having so many responsibilities and being expected to succeed in everything is as hard as having to live in your sibling’s shadow and never having your moment. Both situations really mess with your mind.

this part really breaks me. i understand, margaret just want to be happy and marry peter, but being a sister and *the* queen, it is not an easy decision for elizabeth.
I always hated how Margaret would say “I was his favorite” because, at least in the show, that’s not how it looked to me. George seemed to love them both equally, just in different ways. To George, from my perspective, Elizabeth and Margaret were two halves of his world. His pride, and his joy. I think it’s so hurtful for Margaret to say such cruel and heartless things to her sister. That’s why I don’t like her very much, very selfish.
I think that all her strength wear on to still be something and not just a little sister. I also believe that I’m the long run she would be a better queen then Elizabeth because she still had one foot in the real world and in my opinion had a better understanding of the fact that they needed to change the monarchy, and I also believe that she would have grown with the task and that Peter would have been more comfortable with been number 2 I the family if you compare him with Filip. No one can know for sure but she was a born leader and we’re more comfortable with being with the actual people so on that front she definitely out shine her older sister who doesn’t like to even do live speeches.

Don't you think it would be much more difficult for a person who wasn't prepared correctly for this position? The country was going through difficult situations and the queen needed to be strong and mature. Would Margaret be able to handle it, from what I've read about her, Margaret was a person who wanted to live a happy and free life. Do you think she could have those parties she did? No. Being queen/king is much more than serving your country, it is obeying the laws and traditions that the monarchy carries. Would she be willing to let go of her dreams, the man she loved. Because if you think she would marry Peter if she were queen, you're wrong. If as a princess she couldn't, who will say as a queen?
Princess Margaret is so much better that Queen Elizabeth and she should be happy but she couldn’t be happy because of her sister’s stupid undeveloped thoughts. (I hate Elizabeth II.)
The weight of crown is quite heavy for the one who wears it. Being the eldest and the Queen one must know how to be dutiful and set an example. Queen Elizabeth married her sister to someone else just to stabilise the politics and not to disturb the equality of power.
Well, they both suffered because they had different desires and dreams. The situation was complicated for both of them. Imagine living in the shadow of the sister you would like to live her life as? And imagine the queen having to make decisions that would hurt her sister, even though she didn't want to hurt her, but she had to make that decision because she was queen and because she swore an oath to her people?

Margaret was the PRETTIEST and a free spirit, but Elizabeth was a little smarter and more obedient, which is what it takes to be a successful royal.
This comment should be much higher. Elizabeth was the solid one, at the end of the day this is what the job requires.
Because Elizabeth was stable and would uphold the traditions of the crown, Margaret was allowed to be the amusement and opinionated one.
