My heads had infamous sparkplug cracks on my 04 and i did a mild ej257 street build...but now that we moved to a different state my mom said I could get a bike and now im sitting here regretting it Edit: My car is from the rusty state of minnesota. Its going to be too damn hard to sell it here in south so I cant even do that and get a beater and a bike...
That never gonna happen to me because I own a honda civic hatchback ex 😁 DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE THE WAY WRX AND STI LOOK AND SOUND, there are so unreliable...
bro me rn with my NA forester, engine went out due to rod knock and am thinking of an ej205 swap even though everyone is telling me to just buy an Xt but as weird as it sounds I'm pretty attached to the car and don't want to sell it
you CANNOT grab a random part off a 2015 sti and slap it on an 04 wrx. different chassis, different components, different fitments! That's gonna cost some kid who doesn't know any better a lot of money and time because they took you at your word.
Jdm swaps cost me around 1000-1200 in California (I do the work myself, it's really easy) that includes fluids, gaskets and timing belt. I've done this at least 20-30 times
My 05 wrx wagon blew and found a new motor and turbo through a shop and had all gaskets and timeing belt replaced for about 3k for all that and the swap
I purchased a WRX 08 off my bro-in-law and he bent a rod racing it I took it all apart and wanted to rebuild it but not spend too much money on it you know
Just picked up a wrx 2004 EJ205 with 150000miles on it, I bought the car bone stock other then a exhaust on it but that’s it, I want to build it up (internals) and my goal is to reach 350 400awhp my question is is it worth doing so on the current engine or should I replace it with a ej207 short block I’m still new any help will do thanks
I'm eyeing some impreza hatches from 07 to 09 (really if you look at em right with the right body kit they remind me of the hondas and integras of yesteryears, etc). Planning to eventually do that insane small v8 in there and whatever else will follow suit as a early mid life crisis diy tuner that will undoubtedly drive me to drug abuse and rambling about what I could have done in my late years... Anyway, any tips or advice? Going auto since i never cared for the feel of manual post 2005. There's no performance increase if you're not on a race track so I'm good with the 'get a stick' argument, but as far as particular engine models that make the swaps easy, or even a smaller engine that is a cheap rout to boost. I'm looking for post 300hp all said and done, which a v8 could do automatically. I just want that power on that awd in the dirt roads and rains of florida country side. It's slippery enough here to drift in awd auto haha. Did it in my 2002 crv. No mechanical experience, I know, "DoNt Do IiIiIiTtTtT!!" this is a "if it works, great, if not, toss it and downpayment to a mustang gt" goal over the next few years. Thanks for the video, not sure if this applies for the newer models. I've seen the engines aruond 2k to 2.5k though, so seems the same. Most pushign 140k miles. autos tho. Commuters
I'm looking a 2011 sti Coupe for $6500 but the engine has a know and I can't seem to find a 3rd gen engine for sale anywhere. Will any other engines work?
There is another option that you are not aware of, and that is to get a new short block already build with forged pistons. I think this the best long term option with the most reliability because stock pistons are the weak spots. They can start from $2900. You can find them here: www.importimageracing.com/collections/short-blocks-long-blocks-heads
Hey I have a 2007 Subaru impreza outback sport 2.5l my project is to swap to a sti engine ,6 speed transmission & rombo calipers what you think of it please comment on it
My buddy did this but in a 99 outback , swapped in a harness and computer from a sti and the motor and trans and it took a year or so but it runs well he put the wrx dash inside too
No offense to you and your wrx community but it doesn't make sense that you said that wrx are reliable when there engine and transmission have so many problems... to me if a car start giving you any kind of problems before 100,000 miles., i am sorry but is not a reliable car😎
its true :) 08 - 15 Subaru's are cheap junk. the older EJ205 is more reliable but no valve control and less power of course. all 2.5 turbos are made from cardboard. the new fa20dit seems solid but is relatively new.
I beg to differ, i have a 2004 sti, stock block 195,000 no problems at all, you just have to take care and not beat the shit out of the car and get a good reliable tune for any mods you do... the only problems i have had with mine is the radiator... i daily drive my car and i do a mix of spirited driving a casual... but i do have to say most of them have their ups and down, and i respect you opinion...
I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza outback sport and I’m considering wrx swapping it, there is a jdm shop in Calgary Alberta with jdm wrx engines for a little less than 2000$ do you think it would be worth it ?
I've purchased one of there engines and in the process of swapping it, stuck on the wiring harness as the ecu main plug is on the wrong side of the engine Bay so I'm unsure what to do next. The shop is an okay option though
What would you do if your engine blew up!? 🤔

Same :/
I have a spare EJ205 ready to go when she blows.
Best option if you have the time:
Buy an engine for a swap.
Rebuild it.
Tune.
I do think its worth it. Easy to get attached to your sube regardless of the condition.
oh for sure!

Wanna come help me In Connecticut lol
are you in the bay area?
Question, would you rather a 2.5 liter or a 2 liter for a daily driver? Nothing too fancy just some fun with friends.
You seem so angry explaining everything

Can you do a video of what a WRX should feel like to drive maybe a walk around and pre-purchase inspection?
Yep I actually made a video on my channel about that. Check it out if you want
@@robdog9265 sorry man, I couldn't find it. I'll look again, thanks!
