When you snatched that crab up and said he wasn’t going anywhere, it hit him in a very nostalgic way. I remember shooting a two year doe after a long weekend and my Papa explaining to me why to shoot instead of why not. Hats off to you, Jared. Proud to see you sharing the lost ways.
THANKS JARED FOR THE VIDEO!! IM A LOCAL AND HIT ALOT OF THE SAME SPOTS AND HURTS TO SEE ALL THE TRASH AT EVERY SPOT WE HIT!!! WE TRY TO FILL A 5GAL BUCKET WITH TRASH AND BRING HOME TO PUT IN MY GARBAGE CAN... HOPE EVERY LIL BIT HELPS.. THATS WHAT I TEACH MY BOYS... GOD BLESS AND WAITING FOR MORE CONTENT...
I find it very interesting how you bring up feeling depressed slightly about how the natural resources are cared for down there being from Missouri myself. My wife and I just got back from a trip down there in New Orleans and the Lafitte area. I honestly think it’s because you get used to the area your in and how it’s cared for. I say that because my wife and I loved how the people in Lafitte really seem to care for and about the community, and how it’s taken care of compared to the majority of communities like it here in Missouri. I’m happy you enjoyed the trip you had up here but trust me there’s a lot of the trashy messy stuff up here too.
Well down in Hopedale a lot of folks almost don’t even want there to be land anymore, because its easier to get to the “swimps” if everything becomes open water lol! Ohhh so many complaints from the locals about the Mississippi River sediment diversion thats meant to save the place from becoming Atlantis. Plenty of rubber tires and trash laying dumped around everywhere to float on when it finally sinks, though. I almost stepped on a whole kitchen knife thrown on the ground at Shell Beach when I was down there fishing last week. I used to pick up all the trash at my fishing spots but every time i would go back it would be right back to how it was. Don’t even bother anymore. I make sure to pack all MY trash out down to the smallest clipping of monofilament line, though.
This is a great compilation to share with someone who hasn’t watched Outside The Levees 🐊 before. Catching supper for your family in resourceful, affordable and simple ways. Doesn’t get any better.
I enjoyed this video very much and I'm glad you spoke your mind about pollution by the people you thought would cherish pleasure spots for fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. Take care God bless you and your family.🙏
Great video Jared, we sure do enjoy your videos! Your faith, family, culture and involvement with your community! We have never understood how someone can throw trash on God’s land that he has provided for us, very sad indeed 😢! Thanks for sharing! God Bless you and your family!
I enjoy watching you throw that net. I especially love shrimp. You are a lucky man to be in the seafood capital of the world with so many varieties of seafood.
Hello 👋 Jared, when I was a youngin and my grandparents would take us to a river and dip net sea run smelt, it was the same thing. Dragging the net against the current was hard work, but the pay off was 5 gallon buckets full of smelt from 10 to 16 inches. They are a real soft meat fish, but amazing for smoking
I totally agree with you and the disregard folks have for the environment. Here in southwest Louisiana it’s the same in our ditches, beer cans, bottles, fast food trash, you name it. It needs to be enforced and taught to our children. It is sad.
Glad to see ya back on the side roads. I almost had a business trip to New Orleans, too bad, I would have visited you. Love the way you live off the levee. Keep it going!!
The best thing you can do is trust God and let him lead you. I find that if I do the things that I like to do, even if there are times when support seems very distant, there will always be people that can relate to you. Jared, stay humble, and do what you like, keeping God first in your life. Relating to Him is more important than anything else.
All that hard work got you breathing hard...lol. Getting ready to plan a trip down that way in Oct., my wife is graduating from an online college and will walk across the stage down near Baton Rouge so we will stay at Monty's place and do some fishing. Great video God bless and see you on the next one.
That is why i left La its was just a dumping ground ya fishing was ok but the trash is everywhere it brakes my heart so the wife and I moved out of state and are very happy we did it's way cleaner here and fishing kick but to we do miss La but i will never move back
Looks like it would be more effective to slam the net down at the very opening of the tile and hold it in place instead of scooping. That way the current forces the shrimp into the back of the net and helps keep them there. Then check the net every minute or two.
I remember my aunt telling me that I was crazy fishing in the rain. Crazy were those people that did not know where to catch the fish, but I always caught fish. I was not catching just for me.
@@OutsidetheLevees hehe, understood! :) I went there today, the water was 1+ foot higher turns into a mullet honey hole. Mullet was spawning everywhere, overtaking the shrimps.
I'm up in North Louisiana and it's just as bad here. I take a large garbage bag with me every time I go out. Sadly I fill it up quickly and could fill several more.
Spent 4 hours on the Hudson River this afternoon. One eel after another. Nasty things, don't even bother to land them, just dehook them over the rail! Please, I really need to know where to get a 504 Oyster shirt?
Eel are edible. I have had one and I hate their flavor. It is a strong oily flavor. If you like anchovies then you will like eel. They are cooked all kind of ways. 28:55
I always have a trash bag in my tackle box and I take more trash home than I take with me! It's saddening so many people are so irresponsible to abuse our natural resources!

That eel you caught s great bait for big flatheads.
Make sure to check that they are legal for bait in your state though!

Really enjoy these long vids, the river talk segment should be a series for you to every now and then add.

Just tie off a small box net in front of the covert/pipes while you're dipping, it may pay out greatly ✨💖✨🦐🦐🦐
Great content. Tacos looks amazing

Hello great videos. Can you do a video on how you freezer your fish and crabs and bait.
That is why i left La its was just a dumping ground ya fishing was ok but the trash is everywhere it brakes my heart so the wife and I moved out of state and are very happy we did it's way cleaner here and fishing kick but to we do miss La but i will never move back
I've always loved fried shrimp.
I Love Shrimp!!!
Amen
I’ve been there. The mullet would be swarming on that outgoing tide. Brings back the days.
That ell was great catfish bait
Yes I let him see another day
Awesome video as usual.
Thanks again!
You should scoop with the current.
Great job
Thank you brother
Hey can yall throw shrimp bait down there if so you will get more shrimps but I love your road side videos
Yes you can it def helps if not a lot of current
Embark on a delightful adventure of roadside and shoreline shrimping, crabbing, and fishing for a satisfying catch-and-cook experience!
Thank you
That chorizo mullet 😋
Right lol?

It doesn’t catch as well unfortunately

lol. Glad I could help

Could you explain what the keep regulations are for all your types of gathering and fishing. Like, what species, size, quantity. Would be interesting.
Great suggestion!

Try dipping with the current
I just watched a video from Pelican Bone Outdoors in that same spot.
Yep. That’s why you don’t show anyone your spots lol
We had a good time in New Orleans. But my idea of vacation and my wife's is 2 different things. I didn't get a chance to put a line in the water.
Go to 49:30 and watch at the top of the screen. WTF was that in the water that was making a splash?
Discharge pipe
Those are my crawfish I lost them there 😅
First
Thank you
Eels taste like catfish and you can skin it like a catfish cooking hole like a catfish and the meat pills away from the bone like a catfish
I have seen many homesteaders smoke eel and sell them
Yeah it looks nasty to me lol
I can't believe all the trash down there on that river.
14:55….never too old to learn something. ❤
58:04 gahhhdamn, did somebody throw that mf in there😂😂
What a shame to see all of that trash in the rocks.
