I’ve never seen The Place Promised in Our Early Days and I don’t intend to; it looks boring and I don’t want to tarnish my relationship with this AMV. Robbie Williams’ ‘Feel’ is one of my favourite songs for its sensitive lyrics and empowering chorus; it’s a raw, human expression of how being human is confining. In combination with the visuals, this AMV feels like a refreshing blue-skied morning in winter, and I often think about it on those days, recalling scenes like 1.00. Aside from aesthetics, this edit hits me in all the right places. I used to connect to the teenage protagonist dealing with the immediate loss of his would-be life partner, but now I’ve become the jaded suit-wearing man at 2.58, staring out the window and thinking something reminiscent of the lyrics. It evokes the feeling that my train has already gone, and I’m forever waiting at the station for it to come back.'
