My mother's favorite song. She has been gone for 19 years now, but if I close my eyes, I can still see her singing along to Snowbird with that wonder in her eyes. I love you mom, I hope the snowbirds are all around you.🌿
Does that mean contralto? I've never heard the term 'alter liner note' before. But I do agree, both Karen and Anne had a very pure contralto tone that no one I know matches, not even close.
Anne Murray's Beautiful Voice and Alto sound brought Songs to Life and gave heartfelt meaning in our lives. She is my all time favorite singer from back in the 70's when I was young. She brought meaning to my Life. Thank-you Anne. The Best to you always. ❤
A song inspired by a walk along a wintry Canadian beach looking at the birds flying off to warmer climes. I have a soft spot for "Snowbird" - one of the jauntiest songs about a melancholic subject you’ll ever come across.
At this time of year it's perfect to reflect what a real treat and joy Anne has brought to a young kid growing up with your music and your natural beauty. From " What about me" to your more recent recordings I just want you to know that I fell in love with you as a 15 year old kid and like Elvis ive no doubt that you are the most talented woman I've ever had the pleasure of hearing in my life. Ba r none ! Your voice is not one in a million, you're one of a kind. To say thank you for every note feels so inadequate, but it's all I can offer! Thank you Anne. I hope your family knows that you may be mom to them but you are an irreplaceable treasure for the rest of us!! I can only hope you see this. Just so you know how special you really are to the rest of us!! Best wishes to you and all of those you love. Forever grateful. Michael B. Nunn,Colorado,USA.
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean The unborn grass lies waiting For its coat to turn to green The snowbird sings the song he always sings And speaks to me of flowers That will bloom again in spring When I was young My heart was young then, too Anything that it would tell me That's the thing that I would do But now I feel such emptiness within For the thing that I want most in life's The thing that I can't win Spread your tiny wings and fly away And take the snow back with you Where it came from on that day The one I love forever is untrue And if I could you know that I would Fly away with you The breeze along the river seems to say That he'll only break my heart again Should I decide to stay So, little snowbird Take me with you when you go To that land of gentle breezes Where the peaceful waters flow Spread your tiny wings and fly away And take the snow back with you Where it came from on that day The one I love forever is untrue And if I could you know that I would Fly away with you Yeah, if I could you know that I would Fly away with you🎈♥️
Have loved this song from day one, and there is ONLY ONE person who can properly do it, she was very gracious as she granted a few minutes with her following a performance at Crystal Grand, Lake Delton, WI.
Loved Anne Murray since first hearing "You Needed Me" at age 13 in 1978, "I Just Fall In Love Again" and "Shadows In The Moonlight" the next year. Those were the 1st years of the best days of my life, 8th grade through high school and those songs take me back to those happy fun carefree days.
Met her in Merriville Indiana while she was playing at the Star Theatre in 1980. I had lunch with her at a local restaurant She was as nice as she was beautiful.
I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY PEOPLE SAY HOW RUBBISH MUSIC USED TO BE. YET ALL THE OLD ONES ARE COMING BACK MANY WITH A DIFFERENT ARTIST. THAT WILL NEVER COME CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL. THE MUSIC AS ALWAYS BEEN THERE WAY BEFORE UTUBE EXISTED MUST THANK UTUBE FOR KEEPING THIS MUSIC ALIVE. AND A LOT OF OTHER MEMORIES. A SPECIAL BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR COVERING OF THE BEAUTIFUL MARISKA VERES AND THE BAND SHOCKING BLUE. ❤️

2 minutes and 10 seconds of bliss. And everybody in their 50s and older knows all the words.
Anne Murray and Karen Carpenter two of the best altro liner note singers ever.
yes!
Yep
You are totally correct!
I don’t even know what that means and I agree. 😂 They both sang so beautifully! Something special about it.
Does that mean contralto? I've never heard the term 'alter liner note' before. But I do agree, both Karen and Anne had a very pure contralto tone that no one I know matches, not even close.
I never get tired of this song.
She has one of those great natural and sweet voices.
I remember when I first heard this song back in 1970 as a kid. Still one of my favorites.

The voice of an angel!
Many singers have recorded this song, but Murray's range and timbre make this the definitive version. There is no substitute for talent.

"The one I loved forever is untrue,
And if I could, you know that I would fly away with you."
*Love it!*
🐦
One of the songs that I recorded on my cassette player off the radio at age 18..still love it.
Me 2 bk in the day such a beautiful song loved it then and now
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting
For its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers
That will bloom again in spring
When I was young
My heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me
That's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's
The thing that I can't win
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you
The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again
Should I decide to stay
So, little snowbird
Take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes
Where the peaceful waters flow
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you
Yeah, if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you🎈♥️

My earliest songstress crush! Anne Murray continued to get more lovely with every passing year. At ages 50 through 60 she was at her loveliest.
Met her in Merriville Indiana while she was playing at the Star Theatre in 1980. I had lunch with her at a local restaurant She was as nice as she was beautiful.
